The Surprise

Vic’s POV

“Please tell me nothing happened.”
I couldn’t confirm nor deny. I just stood there, words stuck in my throat. I didn’t want to lie… She is my best friend. What if she actually is pregnant with Mike’s baby? I would have told her nothing happened, and then suddenly there will be a mini Mike running around. I wouldn’t be able to deal with the guilt.

All I did was stand still in my tracks. I saw both Noortje and Tony staring at me with hope in their eyes, but I still couldn’t say anything. Tony slammed down his glass and ran off. The door slammed shut with a loud bang that rung through the house.

“Please call Mike.” Noortje mumbled with tears streaming down her face.
I sat down next to her and nodded. I took out my phone in silence and dialed Mike number. The phone was on loud speaker and Noortje was clutching on the bowl of cake mix as tightly as she could. She was terrified. We both stared down at the display. I was about to end the call when the call was finally answered.
“What up Viccy?”
“Umm, you’re on loudspeaker.” I stammered.
“Why so serious?”
“Umm… I’m here with Noortje,” I looked to my left and saw she was shaking. I gave her a small smile, “We just had a few questions…”
“Is everything alright?” Mike questioned.
“Yea… It’s just... “
“You’re scaring me Vic.”
I looked once more to Noortje for permission to talk and she nodded.
I sighed, “We were just wondering if you had sex with her that one night when we were completely wasted and her medication had taken effect?”
“Ummm…” Mike thought, “To be honest I seriously don’t know. The last thing I remember was bumping into her on my way to the bunks.”
“Shit.” I muttered.
“Why, what’s going on?”
“Nothing. Don’t worry.” With that I immediately hung up.

I sighed again and heard a sob coming from besides me. I rested my elbows of the counter and rested my head in my hands. If Mike would have been able to say whether it happened or not, this would have probably been a lot easier. I heard the chair next to me be pushed back with a deafening squeak, and then footsteps walk out of the room. I had no clue what I had to do.

Something crashed and fell upstairs and I rushed up. I went straight towards Noortje’s room, but found her door locked. Shit. I banged on the door. No response. This wasn’t working. I paced up and down the hallway with my hands behind my head while I desperately thought of a plan. I remembered what Tony and I did last time this happened. I had to knock the door down. I charged towards it and the door flung open. I was relieved with what I saw. There was no dying Noortje. However, she was wrapped in her blanket, like a burrito, on her knees. She was staring at the floor. I followed her gaze and saw a broken photo frame. There was glass shattered everywhere and the photograph was faced down. She slowly reached down to the glass, but I hit her hand away first. She looked shocked to see me, like she hadn’t heard me break the door down. Maybe she hadn’t, she often zones out when she is in this --for a lack of a better word-- mood. I grabbed her bin and the conveniently placed broom and got rid of the glass. I wasn’t going to let her hurt herself.

The photograph was still faced down and I was starting to get curious as to what photo it was. I slowly picked it up and saw it was a group photo of us. It was from a few years ago when we had our first headlining tour. Noortje had joined us after we had begged her to come; we wanted to thank her for all she did. We were all standing in front of the first venue and struck a funny pose. It upset me that it was on the floor. I looked up at her with sad eyes.

“I accidentally knocked it over with my blanket.” Noortje said unemotionally.

I nodded and placed the photo on her bedside table before crawling next to her. I pulled her into a hug and she broke down. I felt really bad for her. There was nothing she could have done about it, and she would never know if it had actually happened. Well… unless she was pregnant.

“Hey, maybe it won’t be that bad?” I tried cheering her up.
This only made her cry harder. Bad move, Vic, bad move.
“Umm, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it that way. We don’t even know if you are pregnant, do we?”
She didn’t show any signs of changing her mind and just kept on crying.
“But if you are… We will all help you. Maybe it was faith. I’m sure you will be a great mother.”
She shook her head no.
“What? I’m sure you will be-.”
“No, I didn’t mean that. So what if I slept with Mike, I did with you as well, didn’t I? And if I’m pregnant, there’s nothing I can really do about it. Well… there’s always the option of abortion, but I’ll have to think that through. It’s just- It’s just... Tony. He’s mad at me now.” She began sobbing again.

I mouthed an ‘Oh’. I did not get what was going on between them anymore. They seem like a couple, but they keep telling us they are just best friends. We also never see them kiss, except for that time at my house, which apparently was fake, and when Jaime saw them but Tony pushed her away. Everyone thought they were perfect together, but I guess they didn’t think so.

“Tony will just have to get over it. There is no reason why he is allowed to be mad at you. Just fuck him! Wait no, don’t fuck him. Or wait, yes, yes you can. But ugh. You know what I mean!” I encouraged.
She nodded her head and sat upright.
“Yeah!” She tried to say with enthusiasm, but her voice cracked.
She started giggling and I smiled.
“How about you choose a movie and I will get rid of the glass and make us some hot chocolate?”
Noortje looked at me and grinned before jumping out of her bed and looking for a movie.

----

We had just finished the movie and I was walking out of the kitchen with a glass of water. I heard the front door close and Tony came walking in with a bag. He tried walking past me, but I stopped him.

“Where were you,” I hissed, “Noortje was nearly having a mental breakdown earlier!”
He hummed showing no emotion and tried to walk past me again.
“No. She was not crying because the could maybe be pregnant. She was fucking crying because you left.”
“Shit.” He mumbled.
“Yeah shit! Now, where did you go!” I hit him on the back of his head.
“Ouch!” He screamed.
I looked at his with raised eyebrows, still waiting on an answer.
“Noortje!” He shouted out
I glared at him. How dare he not answer my question! Quiet footsteps came down the stairs and soon after she carefully popped her head around the corner. Tony smiled and walked over to the counter. Noortje and I followed shortly behind.
He dumped the contents of the bag he had on the counter, “I got you some pregnancy tests, just to make sure. Unless you already sorted this out with Mike. Then I would have no clue what to do with all of these.” He pointed at the four different branded pregnancy tests he got.
Noortje shook her head, “He doesn’t know either.”
“Ok,” He whispered, “Why don’t you go to the bathroom and use these and Vic and I will stay out here. Unless you want one of us to come with you, of course.”
“I’ll be fine, thank you.” She gave Tony a hug and grabbed the tests before running off in the direction of the bathroom.

Tony and I sat down on the couch in the livingroom. We were anxiously anticipating the results.
“So that’s where you went?” I asked.
“Yea,” He smiled, “It was really awkward though. The lady at the counter wasn’t sure if she had to be happy for me or worried for me. So I smiled at her and apparently she now thinks I have a girlfriend who’s trying for a baby with me.” I laughed, “So we’re never going to that pharmacy again, I’m guessing?”
“Nope.”
“But seriously, thank you Tony. She was so scared that you were mad at her.”
“I don’t think I will ever be able to be mad at her.”

I smiled. They were perfect for each other. If Mike and Jaime hadn’t convinced me to give up of the plan, I would have surely been planning the next step right now. But if Tony and Noortje didn’t want to get together, so be it. It’s not for me to interfere.

“Tony!” Noortje screamed from the bathroom.
Tony and I both jumped a bit and he ran to the direction of the scream.

Tony’s POV

“What’s wrong?” I said out of breath.

Noortje was sitting on the bathroom counter with the pregnancy tests facedown, behind her.

“I’m scared.” She murmured.
I stood between her legs and grabbed her hands, “I get that you’re scared and I’m not going to say that there’s no need to be. But I just want you to know that if those pregnancy tests say positive, I will, and I promise I will, stay with you every step of the way. I don’t care that I won’t be the father of the baby, but I will be there to support you and it.”
She stared at my eyes, trying to find any evidence of me lying, but she couldn’t find any. She nodded and rested her forehead against mine.
“I’m going to be ok.” She mumbled under her breath towards herself and closed her eyes.
“Yes you are.” I whispered back.

Her phone alarm went off and we both knew they were ready. She turned towards the tests and looked at them. She reached out to the first one, but lost her strength and moved her hand away.
“You can do this.” I said.
This was all she needed and she quickly turned them all around. She read them all and sighed. I started panicking and couldn’t wait anymore.
“What do they say?” I asked tensely.
She turned towards me and sighed again, “Tony… I’m… NOT PREGNANT!” She screamed out the last part.
“What!” I hugged her and was going to go in for a kiss-
“So what’s going on?” Fuck Vic. Seriously? Why does he keep doing this! I was so close to slamming the door in his face and just making out with Noortje. But I saw her doing a happy dance and couldn’t let myself ruin her happiness.

Maybe one day this will be us… but then with a pregnant Noortje…

Notes

I was going to post this hours ago, but then I decided I wanted to edit it. And when I was finally done my internet connection died. Oh well, it's here now.

Hahaha, thank you. You can totally see how my writing has developed in this story; the first chapters are written so bad. I'm excited for our story as well.

Yaaaaay I read it all! I finished it! I loved it, babe. You're an amazing writer and I'm happy I get to work together with you :) ♡

@Nickyvlxx
Thank you so much. I remember writing chapter three when I was in a really weird mood; I was so confused about everything. I'm Dutch as well, but (as I recall you saying somewhere at the beginning of the story; I have a really weird memory for weird things) English is my first language because I've been speaking it a lot more than Dutch since I was very young. But this wasn't the reason I chose to make her Dutch, I wanted something European and put some random countries in a hat (well, on a website, but same thing) and it came out. So yay!

I have read 3 chapters now and I honestly love it! You have a beautiful writing style and the story is really unique! I also kind of relate to Noortjes feelings. I have the same problems with reality. And I like it a lot that she is dutch because I am too :p

I'M STILL READING!!
