The New Member

The Beginning

Present Day

"So Guys, why a new member?" The shaky interviewer asked.
"Aaah... you see, she technically has always been here, but not here." Vic stated before going over what he said and realising it made no sense, "I mean, just check the credits in the booklets, you'll find her there."
"Haha, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fans buying your albums just to find her name now. Anyway, Noortje, what is it like partying with the guys?"
My head snapped up when my name was said and I turned bright red, "Oh god, my first interview and I already zone out . I feel so bad now. Stupid, so stupid! Ugh, ok, I'm rambling, I'll just answer the question before I embarrass myself even more."
Jaime started silently giggling as Vic just shook his head.
"Well, partying with these guys is quite fun I guess. If you mean partying as in drinking and shit, then yea, it's kinda weird. I don't drink, so seeing these guys drunk off their asses is hilarious! Seriously it's better than watching a comedy movie. But then they pass out and I have to make sure nobody will choke on their own spit or have serious neck pains the next days."
"Hey, we aren't that bad!" Mike defended
"Yes, yes you are," I backfired before continuing, "But if you mean partying as in joining these guys as an official member, then I would say it's awesome. Emphasis on the awesome. Oddly, I'm still getting used to their many antics, but nonetheless I love them."
"That was one of the best answers I got since I started interviewing, which I admit, wasn't very long, but still."
After a few more questions for the guys and me trying my best to not zone out again, (I'm still very used to zoning out a lot, I guess it's a habit I will never really get rid of) the interviewer directed a question back to me.
" I think a lot of fans will wonder how you know the guys. So, how do you know them?"
"Ooh, that's quite a funny story. I'll just summarise the events for you. It started when I just moved away from home, from Holland...”

I stared up at the tall red brick building. This was going to be my home for the time being… If i wasn’t going to be homeless before that. You see, I moved here for what I liked to call “job opportunities’. Of course they weren’t actual job opportunities, I just really had to get away. I just had to start again and forget my demons, like I’ve done so many times before. I grabbed my large suitcases and made my way towards the door. Was I really ready for this? I could still turn back now, just forget about ever leaving and deal with it. No. No, I wasn’t going to let it win this time, I was doing this for my own good.
After some trouble with the sketchy door I was finally able to enter my apartment. Ok, so what, it wasn’t large. A room that just fit a bed, and another that was supposed to be a dining room/living room/kitchen. Then there was a bathroom… ugh! Of course it hasn’t been cleaned! Couldn’t the previous owners at least have done this for me? I wandered further till I entered the last room. It was the perfect size. I could put the old worn out table in the left corner and put all my guitars on the walls and the many other corners. This is were I would be spending the most of my time, well only if my guitars and table would actually be arrived in 3 days like the moving company had promised. All I can do now is sit down and stare at the wall I was planning to paint.
I was jet-lagged out of my mind. It might only be midnight here, but for me it felt like 9 in the morning. Oh, the wonders of time zones. I stood up and opened one of my many suitcases; Cleaning products. Yes, I was going to clean this place. I might as well do it now, or I’ll never do it. I always am more productive when the sun goes down. Starting with the kitchen I soon realised it was too quiet. Music never harmed nobody, did it? I turned on my favourite playlist and cleaned while dancing. It’s possible!
It was all fun and games until I reached the bathroom. God, did it smell. The whole sink was covered in stains! Don’t ever get me started on the toilet. It just made me feel sick. I decided to just suck it up and cleaned the whole place before reaching the toilet. I needed a toilet brush for this, and of course, who’s the dumb person that doesn’t have one? Me! I looked through my suitcases trying to find anything that I could use as a substitute, but no luck. Maybe the neighbours have something I can use? Yeah, they probably do.

Present Day

“I had such a stupid brain at that time. Seriously, I don’t even get why I did what I did next!”
“Hey, it’s fine. If you wouldn’t have done that we probably would even have met.” Vic replied.
“Ok, thats true. But I still feel so guilty!”
“No, I won’t have any of that, you didn’t even do anything bad!”
“Ugh, ok”

I opened my front door and walked to the opposite side of the corridor. Just as I rang the doorbell I realised what I did. It’s fucking 1 in the morning, who in their right mind would still be awake now! My eyes went wide and I just wanted to turn around to walk back to my apartment when the door opened.
“Oh god, I am so sorry. I don’t know what I was thinking! I’m so sorry! I totally forgot it was 1 in the morning! How can I make it up to you? I’m so-“ I babbled.
“Umm…. It’s ok…. I’m awake now, so just tell me what you want,” A man with long messy hair and no shirt said quite rudely, “Sorry, that sounded rude. I didn’t intend for it to sound like that… What’s up”
“Well, I just moved next door and I was cleaning the apartment, ‘cause omg it was so disgusting,” I made a disgusted face.
The man raised an eyebrow, “Oh, welcome. But why did you need me?”
“Oh yea, I forgot that part. I was cleaning the bathroom and realised I didn’t have a toilet brush, so I was wondering if you had one I could borrow.”
“As much as I would love to lend you my toilet brush, I don’t have one. I may or may not have snapped it in half yesterday.”
This got a giggle out of me, which made the man grin.
“You know what, since I need a new one, and you need one, we’ll go buy some right now! Just let me go put on a shirt and get my keys. I’ll be right back.”
The man turned around before I could reply, “Uhhhh… ok?”
I stood there awkwardly at the door. His apartment seemed quite nice. It sure had a lot more furniture than mine. I should probably go buy some furniture this week, I still have some savings. I stared just thinking about how I could decorate my apartment before I was shaken away from my thoughts by the man shouting.
“Baby, I’m going out to buy a new toilet brush!”
“At 1 in the morning? Oh well… You’re crazy like that. Have fun!” A female voice came from what I expected to be the bedroom.
The man had put on a beanie and a shirt, luckily. Not that I minded him not having a shirt on, I just didn’t feel all that comfortable around guys in that way. And I don’t think I will be for a long time.

“Well that seems eventful.”
“Yes, yes it was. But that was just me meeting Vic. Let me tell you about when I met the others!”

Notes

First Chapter!
I promise it won’t jump for present to past through out the whole story. It will just be like this for the first couple of chapters.
A lot of dialogue, normally barely have dialogue, oh well. I hope it’s not too bad.
Ok, so I'll try to update frequently, but school is a bitch of course. I also tend to over think everything I write... so a paragraph of 100 words can take me half an hour. Just bare with me!
I might ask for suggestions later on the story as I also get serious writers block before having these creative moments and being all over the place, like I am now.
Anyway, just tell me how to improve, and I'll try my best. Just tell me if I repeat words too often, it's something I do a lot. I also seem to use both English and American spelling, the perks of living in many different countries.

@Nickyvlxx
Hahaha, thank you. You can totally see how my writing has developed in this story; the first chapters are written so bad. I'm excited for our story as well.

Yaaaaay I read it all! I finished it! I loved it, babe. You're an amazing writer and I'm happy I get to work together with you :) ♡

@Nickyvlxx
Thank you so much. I remember writing chapter three when I was in a really weird mood; I was so confused about everything. I'm Dutch as well, but (as I recall you saying somewhere at the beginning of the story; I have a really weird memory for weird things) English is my first language because I've been speaking it a lot more than Dutch since I was very young. But this wasn't the reason I chose to make her Dutch, I wanted something European and put some random countries in a hat (well, on a website, but same thing) and it came out. So yay!

I have read 3 chapters now and I honestly love it! You have a beautiful writing style and the story is really unique! I also kind of relate to Noortjes feelings. I have the same problems with reality. And I like it a lot that she is dutch because I am too :p

I'M STILL READING!!
