The pact

You wear a crown, but you're no king

I knew it was hard for him to talk about what happened, so we stopped talking about it after that.
School was getting really weird. Me and Vic were always together, in the halls, in the classes we had together, during breaks.
The weird thing about it was, that people still ignored Vic, but called me names in the halls. It made for really crazy situations, because whenever they called me names, Vic tried to stand up for me. It seemed like he had finally accepted the fact that there was nothing to do about the fact that I had broken the pact. But his sadness made place for the fear of seeing me hurt, and so he stood up for me every time they called me slut, whore or loser etc. Not that they listened to him, they just ignored him and that made Vic angry. Which was cute as fuck.
He let go of the idea of going along with the pact to protect me and I had to admit, it was really sexy.
We had gotten really close in the following days too. After school we tried to do as many fun things as possible to distract of our terrible school life. We went skating (I fell on my butt ten times in ten minutes), we went to the zoo, we went to the cinema to see 'the emperor's new groove.' Everything to keep our minds of things.
And it worked. We had loads of fun together and for a few moments I had forgotten all about school and my situation at home. My mom was back to ignoring me and I was happy about that. When she was talking to me she was complaining about that she had to do everything around the house and that I was too lazy to help her out. But the conversation subjects remained simple things like that.
Although I was happy she didn't talk to me much, I was mostly miserable because of it at home. I often wished for a normal, caring mother. Someone who'd hug me when I felt sad and told me that everything was going to be alright. Someone who had taught me the real things in life like things about boys or friends instead of the useless, untrue things she had taught me.
I also hadn't heard of Tony and Jaime in days. It disappointed me, because for some reason I had hoped that they would try to contact me behind Mike's back. But I also kind of realized that they wouldn't ever do that. Jaime and Mike had been friends since fifth grade and Tony joined in seventh grade. They wouldn't betray a friend they had had for so many years, for some girl they had just met that year.
I found it really hard to not see them. I had gotten so close to them in the last half year and sometimes I just needed to walk home with Jaime or see Tony fanboy about star wars.
Even though I didn't want to admit it, I also missed Mike. I had been wrong about things and I wanted to tell him I was sorry, but I also knew that he wouldn't want to talk to me anymore.

One day I was walking towards the grocery store, because my mom had been shitty again and forced me to go get groceries. I was going to a fair with Vic this afternoon, so I had asked her if I could also do it another time, but she gave me 'that' look. I wanted to avoid a conflict, so I just went to get the groceries.
I walked really fast, so I could get home again soon and go to Vic's house.
Suddenly I heard a boy say from behind me: ''Hey look! It's Luna!'' I had recognized the voice immediately and it made me tense my muscles out of shock. It was Ryan.
One second I was frozen, not knowing what to do. Then I started to walk even faster, pretending like I didn't hear them. They followed me.
''Hey Luna! Where are you going? Are you going to your boyfriend? Planning on punching someone into the hospital?'' I heard Peter yell at me.
''Yeah, you.'' I had whispered to myself as I turned around a corner to get rid of them. They kept following me and I heard them get closer and closer.
Fear rose up in me. We weren't on school grounds and that made them more dangerous. They hadn't ever physically hurt me, but this felt like the perfect opportunity for them to do that. I knew they were capable of doing terrible things.
I kept ignoring them and they didn't like it. ''Hey bitch! Don't ignore us! That's rude!'' I heard Ryan yell and I was now walking so fast, I was almost running.
We weren't really in a safe neighborhood, so I couldn't really rely on anyone on the street. I saw the grocery store rise up in the distance and I knew I would be safe there.
''You're gonna regret this, slut!'' Ryan yelled.
I suddenly felt an intense pain in the back of my head. Stars appeared in front of my eyes and for a moment my muscles turned weak and I fell on the stone ground. I scraped my elbow on the ground as I fell.
I put my hands over the back of my head trying to contain the stinging pain. I felt fluid on my hands and I realized my head was bleeding.
They had thrown something at me, I had felt a hard surface hit the back of my head before I fell. I looked around and saw a big grey stone laying next to my head.
Before I could get up, Ryan and Peter stood next to me, looking down on me with grins on their faces.
''Aw, poor kiddo, did that hurt?'' Peter said with a fake caring voice.
I wanted to say something back, but wasn't able to.
I was still in shock when Ryan picked up the stone laying next to my head and threw it at me again. This time the rock hit my right rib case, sending shocks of pain through my chest. I screamed it out not able to contain it.
I saw Peter and Ryan looking around worried. They must've been afraid that someone heard me. They must've seen something, because their eyes widened and they ran away as fast as they could.
I rolled on my left side, pushing my hand to my right rib case. God, it hurt so fucking bad.
I heard footsteps coming my way. Were they coming back.?
But then I heard the voice of a girl above me: ''Oh my god, are you okay?'' I turned on my back to face her. It was a girl around my age. She had a pale skin and bright red hair. I looked to her black shirt, green day.
''Yeah I'm alright.'' I said slowly getting up. My ribs and head started to sting and I closed my eyes in pain.
''No you're not.'' she said walking towards me as I finally stood straight. ''Let me look at it, my dad is a doctor, I know a lot about these sort of things."
I looked at her suspiciously, holding my rib case with my hands.
''Do you rather go to the hospital then?'' She said sighing.
I shook my head fast. That would only be more trouble. ''Okay, go ahead.'' I said.
She walked towards me. When she was standing in front of me I noticed that she was smaller than me. And that was hard to do.
She lifted up my shirt and looked at my ribs. There was a big flesh wound and blood was dripping from it. There were bruises surrounding it. ''I think you are lucky. You don't have broken ribs, it just a little bruised.'' She took her backpack off and started searching it. She took out a small white box with a red cross on it and took out some bandages. She cut them into the shape of butterflies and put one wing on one side of the wound and one wing on the other. The wound was pulled together because of it and it stopped bleeding after she had pasted four bandages.
''This is an alternative for stitches.'' She said. ''Look out with it though. You can easily open it up again.''
I nodded. She looked like she really knew what she was doing.
She walked around me and pulled my head down a little to look at the wound on the back of my head. She then took out a little brown bottle with alcohol and wimps out of her bag and started dabbing it on my head. It stung like crazy, but it felt better after.
''This might gonna sound weird, but I wouldn't rapport this to the police.'' she said.
She walked around me to face me again and put the bottle and wimps back in her bag.
''I wasn't going to, but why not?'' I asked.
''Ryan's father is the sheriff. Why do you think he and his friends get away with beating up all those people?'' she said swinging the backpack on her back again.
''Yeah that sounds logical. How do you know Ryan? Are you from my school?'' I asked.
''Yeah, I'm a sophomore and I can tell you with pain in my heart that Ryan is my cousin. I know what you're thinking, how can she be related to a pig? She doesn't even have a curly tail! But yeah, it's a mystery to me too.'' She said she had a high, soft voice.
I laughed. ''I'm Luna.'' I said and put out my hand to her.
''Yeah I know, I'm Leah.'' She said as she shook my hand.
''I'm kinda famous at school now, huh?'' I asked her.
She nodded. ''You and Vic are THE gossip subject in the cafeteria. Almost everyone has an opinion about it. Personally I think you're awesome. It might seem as nothing to you, but by breaking the pact that openly, you made a lot of people think about the morals of the pact and of the other terrible things that group of people has done. A lot of bullied people feel like you didn't only stood up for Vic, but also for them.''
I didn't realize I had such a big affect on people. There were other people like me, who saw how wrong it was. ''Are there a lot of people who think that way?'' I asked her with a surprised look.
''Quite a lot. I personally, wanted to do what you did for a long time, but I never had the balls too. I know a lot of people think the same as me. Especially the alternative kids: the punks, the grunge people, the gothic kids, the basket cases etc.'' She said.
Wow, this was incredible. Leah seemed to notice my astonishment. ''You didn't know this? I heard it quite some time at school.''
I shook my head. ''The only person who still talks to me is Vic.'' I said with a sadness in my voice.
She sent me a reassuring smile. ''I can keep you updated if you want to? I'll even help you if you want to start a revolution!''
I chuckled. ''A revolution? Like the French revolution?''
She rolled her eyes. ''It sounds stupid, I know. But if we get a lot of kids behind us then we can make them all stand up for each other and fight back. We're definitely with more. They won't stand a chance.''
There was a small chance that this would work, but it was there and I wanted to fight for those poor kids who were the victim of Ryan, Peter and Jessie.
''I'll think about it.'' I said. ''And yeah, thanks, I like you to keep me updated.''
She smiled. ''Yes! oh by the way! I just wanted to say that you and Vic are really cute together.''
I felt myself turn red from head to toe. ''Uhm...we're not together...we're just friends.''
She laughed at my blushing head. ''I know, you said that in front of the whole school. I just think you guys would be cute together.''
''Uhm...Thanks?'' I giggled. I looked at my watch. ''Sorry I really need to go now. I'll see you later okay? Thank you for everything.''
''Okay bye!'' she said and she walked off.

I was walking down the fair with Vic and we just went into a thing that was called the spider and well, let's say that we made a lot of spins in that thing. I just had a cotton candy earlier and I felt like throwing up now.
''Vic, I don't feel good.'' I said holding my stomach with a grumpy face.
He looked at me and laughed. ''I can't believe you got sick on that thing. I barely feel a thing. Maybe I'm just a lot braver than you.'' He said and poked in my arm.
I rolled my eyes at him and we started walking. ''Please. You were the one who didn't want to go in that freefall thing. You almost cried when I proposed to go on it.''
''That thing was really high okay? '' He said insulted. ''and I would've never do that. I'm a man.''
I busted out in laughter. ''You? A man? Are you sure?'' I said jokingly.
''Oh my god. Maybe I'm a woman.'' he said putting his hands on both sides of his face, making a fake shocked face.
I laughed at him. ''Maybe you should go and check.'' I said and winked at him. Our humour could be summarised in one word: sarcasm.
''Yeah you're right.'' He said and he nodded very seriously. Then he suddenly stopped walking and his hands moved to his zipper.
I chuckled. ''No you loser, not here. Check it without me.''
''You don't want to see it?'' he asked smiling and he moved his eyebrows up and down.
I tried my hardest not to blush. ''I must inform you, Victor Fuentes, that I'm a lady. It's not polite to say such things to ladies.''
He threw his head back in laughter. ''Are you sure you are lady, though? Maybe you need to check too.'''
''VIC!'' I screamed and I hit him on the back. It only made him laugh more.
He started to tickle me, but he hit my wound with his fingers and a flash of pain shot across my face. I tried to contain it, but it was too late. He had seen it. He was too good at observing.
''What's wrong?'' He asked. His mood was changed in a split second.
''Nothing. It's nothing, vic.'' I said and I started walking again. He followed me.
''It obviously is. I barely touched you and you already cringed. Was it your mom?''
'''No! she never hurt me like that...'' I said and I knew I had said too much.
''Like what?'' He said. He grabbed my shoulders and made me stand still again. ''Luna, what happened?''
I sighed. I told him the whole story. From the groceries to Ryan and Peter following me, from the stones to Leah.
When I was done talking he looked disgusted. ''I wanna kill them.'' He said. ''Hurting me, that's alright, go ahead. But no one hurts you without facing the consequences.''
I sighed. ''This is exactly why I didn't tell you at first. You're kind of overly protective lately.''
He looked at his shoes, moving his feet a little. ''Well, I know that if something happens to you, that it is my fault. I can't forgive myself for that...And I really care for you...'' he blushed.
I blushed too. ''That's really sweet, but you know you'll only make it worse if you start fighting them, don't you?''
''Not if I kill them.'' He said and first he looked seriously but then he looked up to me and smiled.
I rolled my eyes. ''No, not really, Vic. You'll be in jail and then I'll have no one to protect me from falling on my butt when I fall with skating.''
He nodded. ''Yeah you're a danger to yourself and others when you're skating. But I read a book a little while ago about how to commit the perfect murder, I won't have to go to jail if I follow those steps...''
I loudly sighed. ''No Vic! I will not tolerate murder!'' I said strictly.
''Yes sir'' he said.
''It's m'am.''
''We're still not entirely sure about that yet...''
''UGH VIC!'' I said annoyed. He laughed.
When we walked towards the bumper cars, I suddenly saw a familiar face. My heart sank. It was Tony. He was alone and he looked around him, searching for someone.
I wanted to look away, so he wouldn't see me, but his eyes already met mine. He started walking towards me. ''Hey, I've been looking for you.'' He said when he stood in front of me and vic.
I raised an eyebrow. ''Have you?'' I said, sounding as annoyed as I could.
He nodded and ignored my sarcastic politeness. ''Yeah, I had called to your home. Your mom picked up. she told me she didn't know where you went. Then I figured that you must've been with Vic. So I went to his house and asked Mrs. Fuentes were you two went and she told me you were at the fair. So I came here. I've been searching for half an hour now. I didn't know it was this big here.'' He looked around.
I was confused. Why would he be looking for me? I felt Vic grabbing my hand. I was a reassurance. He knew that I would find it hard talking to Tony after everything that had happened. My confidence immediately grew.
''Why were you looking for me, Tony?'' I said a bit angry. ''The last couple of days you haven't really made the impression that you want to be my friend.''
He looked sad. ''I know. And I'm sorry. I should've chosen your side immediately, but I just couldn't betray Mike. I still don't want to, but I don't want to lose you as a friend either.'' He looked at Vic. ''I know you don't know me, but I want you to know that I'm at your side. You have to know that before I met Mike and Jaime, I was a very shy kid. I was pushed around and I had no friends. Mike and Jaime took me in, that's why I kinda looked up to them. So when Mike told me that you deserved what had happened to you, I believed him. Now I realize that he was wrong, no one deserves what you're going through and if Luna likes you then you must be a nice person.''
I looked up to Vic. He looked surprised, but happy. I wanted to say to him: 'I told you so, you don't deserve this', but I guess he realised that now too.
''Thanks.'' Vic shyly said and Tony smiled at him. Then Tony turned to me. ''So what do you think? Please say you'll forgive me.''
I sighed and looked inside of his eyes for a while. He really seemed to mean it. ''Tony, how do you want to do that? Be friends with me and Mike. He is not gonna change his mind any time soon.''
''Well, you've been secretly friends with Vic for months. I think I can pull that off. And by the way, I don't just want to be friends with you, I want to be friends with both of you.'' He smiled at me, his eyes full of hope.
I couldn't help but smile back. It was impossible to stay mad at Tony. The boy was all fluff. He also wasn't a person to stand up against someone. If he did that, then he must've really meant it.
Then I just walked over to him and hugged him. ''I'm happy to see you again turtle.'' I whispered in his hair and I heard him chuckle.

Notes

heyyy guys!

I hope you guys understand why I named this chapter after that song of blessthefall, it's because Ryan feels like he's king...and it fits in the whole 'revolution' theme XD
This chapter was gonna be named after 'kick me' by sleeping with sirens, but it turned out to be a whole different chapter than I had first in mind. Uggh...I just wanna use a sleeping with sirens song!

Next chapter is gonna be a really big and awesome one! :D I'm almost 100% sure that it will be named after 'sing' by my chemical romance.

okay, so vote, subscribe and comment (PLEASE I love ur guys' comments!) but only if you want to ;)
