Bulletproof Love

Death do us part

Emily’s POV

“Tony we have been on the road for 7 hours now. Just tell me where we are going,” I whined and gave him my best puppy dog look. We had left at 8:00am today and it was already 3:00pm.

If we were driving any longer I knew I would go insane.

“Well we are on our way to Chicago but we’re going to spend the night in Colorado because I don't want to spend the rest of the night driving,” he laughed.

“Fair enough, now how much longer?” I asked curious. I didn't even know where we were.

“3 hours, can you live?” he asked.

“Maybe,” I said. I sat for a little bit just quietly then started talking again. “Tone I got a little more of my song written!”

“Oh my god, let me hear it!” he practically yelled. He turned off the radio and gave me as much attention as he could without taking his eyes off the road.

Well, fuck what am I supposed to be impressed? You’re just another set of bones to lay at rest. I guess it’s time to say goodnight. I hope you had a really good time,” I paused for a second trying to contain my tears. I didn't want to admit it but the next lines were about Tony. “And I will soon forget the color of your eyes, and you’ll forget mine.”

“It just keeps getting better! You write just like Vic,” he said.

“Thanks Tone, you’ll probably have to help me figure out some more lyrics when we get home,” I said.

“Sounds like a plan,” he said as he turned the radio back on.

We got to Colorado three hours later just like Tony had said and slept like actual babies. We were back on the road by 5:00am and had arrived in Chicago at 7:00pm. We were traveling so much that the days and times were just blurs to us now. All that seemed to matter was that we were together.

I flopped down on the bed and let out a loud sigh. Tony walked out of the bathroom drying his hair with a towel.

“Got any more of those lyrics written?” he said sitting down next to me.

“Yeah, hold on.” I leaned over the side of the bed and grabbed my notebook. I flipped through it till I was at the page my unfinished song was written on. “Choke; try to wash you down with something strong. Dry but the taste of blood remains, cold empty mattresses and falling stars. My how they start to look the same,” I sang.

“You are so fucking talented Emily Fuentes,” he said pulling me close to him, “and I really really love that about you,” he whispered in my ear before planted light kiss on my lips.

“Tony? You did bring condoms this time right?” I laughed. Tony sat up and looked me in the eyes.

“What if we don't,” he said quietly.

“Don't what?” I asked confused.

“Don't use one,” he said. I looked at him confused.

“Are you insane?” I laughed getting out of bed.

“No, I’m just saying that I really wouldn't mind having a little mini you waking me up in the
morning, and waking me up in the middle of the night because of her nightmares. I wouldn't mind hearing her little footsteps running through the kitchen. Or helping her put the star on top of a Christmas tree,” he explained. I looked at him like he was crazy. “Plus we are going to get married eventually,” he was going to keep talking but I cut him off.

“We’re getting married?” I asked. His face turned red and he looked away.

“I just mean. I love you so much and I really want to marry you and having kids and raise a family. I just want to be with you forever and protect you from everything bad in the world. I want to give you everything,” he whispered. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” I said sitting down next to him and resting my head on his shoulder. “But I am nowhere near ready to get married let alone have a baby. I mean especially after,” I stopped with tears in my eyes.

Tony grabbed me and pulled me close to him.

“I’ll wait for you,” he said laughing. He laid us down.

“Even if you were dead, I would wait for you. I would wait until I could see you again,” I said to him.

“Here,” he said getting out of bed. He dug out two string bracelets from his bag.

“A friendship bracelet,” I laughed.

“Tie it around your wrist and never take it off. Where ever you go I will always be with you no matter what. I’ll have mine tied tightly around my wrist for the rest of the night,” he said tying it around my wrist. “I will always love you Emily Fuentes, even if you’re dead,” he whispered.
