Bulletproof Love

Emily’s POV:
Tuesday – 2:00am
I dug through my bags making sure I had everything I would ever need. I cannot believe that this is how I have to do this. Instead of having a civil conversation with my big brother I have to run from him. I am just picking up my bags and leaving, and I don’t know when I will be back. I ripped out a piece of paper and wrote a goodbye note.
To whoever gets this first,
It’s Emily. I want to say that I am okay but I cannot be sent off to a random hospital. I am a 22 year old woman and I can do what I want. I love each and every one of you guys to the bone and I will miss you all so much. I knew that you would disapprove of my decision but it is final. I will not answer any calls or texts; I will avoid you at all costs. Please understand you did nothing wrong but I have to do this. I will see you whenever I see you.

I felt my phone buzz in my pocket and I knew what that meant, I grabbed my bags and my note and headed out. I taped the note to the fridge and silently walked down the stairs. I was tieing my shoes when I heard a voice.
“Going somewhere?” I turned to see Mike walking at me.
“Mike, you know more than anyone that I cannot be shipped off” I started with tears forming in my eyes.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
“Away. With Tony” I said, his eyes lit up when I said his name.
“Be safe Em” he whispered as he walked back to his room. I walked out of the door and slid into Tony’s car. As soon as I sat down tears came rolling out of my eyes.
“Em” Tony said as he reached for my hand. “It is going to be okay, I promise” he said.
“I know, it’s just, I cant believe that I am actually just dropping everything and leaving” I said. “This is going to be really fucking hard” I added. “And don’t get me wrong I love you, but I am leaving the only family I’ll ever have” I cried.
“Not true” Tony said, I turned and stared at him. “I love you, and I am your family too, and one day you are going to make a great mother and I can only hope that I get to share that joy with you” he said.
“Yeah” I said.
“You can go back inside, I wont be mad. I just couldn’t live with myself if I knew you were unhappy and I could help but didn’t” he said. I took a deep breathe and looked back at my house.
“You should probably start driving before I change my mind” I said as I buckled my seatbelt.
“I missed you so much” he laughed as he started driving.

“Tony, where are we going?” I asked, we had been on the road almost an hour and I was getting tired.
“You’ll see!” he said, this is going to be one crazy adventure we are about to embark on. But I know that as long as I am with Tony, it will all be worth it. And where ever we are going or wherever we end up, this trip will bring both of us closer together. I fell asleep listening to him sing “Twin Skeletons” on repeat, and I’m sure I was smiling in my sleep.
