October 12. Duet.


I didn't need to read farther.
This was the day me and her did our first duet in our guitar class. She was wearing a black shirt with a baby blue cardigan. Her red hair vibrant. I remember. I remember everything, and it's playing in my mind like a fucking movie.

Today was duet day, and guess who was my partner? That's right! Not the geeky guy that always stared at me! Ha! No, it's was Antonio. He smiled shyly at me, and spoke for the first time in this class. Dyna thinks I have a crush on him, and maybe I do. He plays guitar amazingly and his smiles makes my heart accelerate. That's all I can say. We don't hang, he's usually at band practice with Jaime. I wish I could talk to him... Just once. Maybe even if we bump into each other. That's all I need to be happy. To know that I finally got to the first base. -Jane.


First base. I remember how her finger were against her guitars and how her smile really showed her happiness. I remember when she told me she wanted to work with me. Her glasses were crooked because she was getting new ones soon.
"Tony?" I look up and Nayfee smiles down at me. She comes out of the room she's been staying for now, since Dyna left for a small vacation with her kids east.
"What's up Nayfee?"
"I was wondering, if... If you can tell me about you and my mom." Her brown eyes look into mine, and I look at her deeply. She had Jane's features.
"I'll read you one... Sit." She sits next to me, grabs a pillow and hugs it tightly, looking at me. I flip the page and smile.
"What?" She asks, raising an eyebrow.
"I remember this day..." I push back the tears that rimmed around my eyes. I take a deep breath and Nayfee places a hand over mine.

"Okay.... October 24th."

Halloween shopping. Today was probably the most amazing day of sophomore year so far, and we just started school. This is awesome! I was hanging out with Dyna, Hextor, Jaime and well Antonio. We were talking about Halloween, and we started to talk about couple costumes, and it was awkward at first. We landed on to talking about Joker and Harley Quinn, you know, the girl that has half red and half black hair, outfit.. All that? Well after school, Antonio came to me and told me if I would like to be his Quinn for this Halloween, because he's been wanting to be Joker for this year. I just said yes, but my insides were celebrating this second base! Oh my gosh! I have to be his'girl' for Halloween. I already got my black hair dye, cause I'm going full out! Jane.

I close the book and Nayfee smiles. I reach for my yearbook, and hand it to her, as I point to the picture of our Halloween night at high school.
"She looks awesome!" She says, touching the picture. "You did your makeup?" I chuckle and shake my head.
"No; my mom did it for me.. Jane did the lips."
"You guys look awesome." I smile and shrug as i sit doqwn next to her. “Was anyone batman?”
"No, sadly. But we went trick or treated and a little kid threw a little paper at me. I played along and fell to the ground.”
“You made that's kids life!” I nod and she lays down. “I’m tired.”
“Wanna take a nap? I gotta head out somewhere.”
"Okay…” She closes her eyes and falls asleep. I look her carefully, and see Jane on her face. If Nayfee were to have half red hair, she would look just like her mom.
