You'd Better Hide the Bullets

You're Giving Me a Heartattack

Stepping out into the lobby of my grandparents penthouse and finding Vic standing in a black shirt, bow tie and black skinny jeans made my heart skip a beat. He looks so good, so pristine. He grinned at me, clearly enjoying the fact I was wearing the dress he got me. It was beautiful and the fact he picked it out for me made me so happy. I put my hair into a messy ponytail and let parts of my hair fall onto my face.

I approached Vic and he kissed me on the cheek. "You look beautiful." He smiled down at me.

"This feels like some cheesy romantic movie right now, I keep pinching myself to see if I'm actually sleeping or in a coma." I laughed and looked away. I could feel my cheeks beginning to turn, well Scarlett. Maybe thats why my parents called me it because they knew I'd spend 80% of my life resembling a fucking tomato.

"For tonight it could be. We can go for dinner and then come back here because we are both under age and have no money." He smiled, grabbing my hand and directing me towards the elevator.

"Okay well, we will see after dinner then." I smiled, so fucking happily. Just standing here holding Vic's hand made me happy, instead of knowing he's with my sister. Instead of me crying myself to sleep wishing he was there, tonight I get to spend it with him, and sleep by his side. "I just realised something." I frowned. Vic looked down at me and noticed my frown, making him frown.

"What is it?" He sounded sad. The elevator opened and we walked out into the lobby of the ground floor.

"You never broke up with Ali, so technically you're still with her." I pointed out. Vic looked at me and he nodded.

"I think the running away thing kinda made it clear that I didn't wanna be with her." He smiled down at me. "Also I did break up with her but she blackmailed me into staying with her, which reminds me that I'm a total asshole. All those things I said to you that night." He looked at his feet, a pained look spreading across his face.

"Look I understand that she made you do it." I told him, resting my hand on his chest. He looked at me and a small smile broke out onto his face.

"Thank you Scarlett. I didn't mean a word of it anyway, I just had to make you stay away from me." He explained, I stood on the tips of my toes and kissed him softly.

"It's in the past okay." I mumbled. He pulled away and then dragged me outside, I noticed my grandparents driver, Jonathan was standing in front of his car waiting for us. He opened the back door for us and we both slid into the car.

"Table for two under the name Fuentes." Vic said so confidently. Sometimes I forget how forward he is, for the most part recently he's been really quite. I guess I didn't realise I missed his confidence until now.

"Right this way." The hostess told us and led us to a table near the back, away from everyone.

"Thank you." I told her as she gave us the menus and asked for our drink orders. She walked away and left us to our own devices. "Okay I've been dying to say this but you actually look like you fit in on this upper class New York lifestyle." I laughed at Vic. He rolled his eyes and picked at the napkin in front of him.

"You know that's a lie." He smirked at me, that smirk that makes me wanna rip every inch of his clothing off his body.

"Why would I lie about that?" I said leaning my chin on my hand upon the table, a small smile on my lips. The flirting is getting out of hand.

"Come on, look at me. I look so out of place and clueless here." He said rolling his eyes. I just shrugged at his reaction. "The funny thing is that you do though." He had a serious look on his face.

"What do you mean?" I asked, confused. The hostess brought over our drinks.

"Are you ready to order or do you need a few more minutes?" She smiled at us.

"A few more minutes, thanks." Vic said politely to her. She nodded and then walked away.

"Okay so what do you mean?" I asked again, getting frustrated.

"What I mean is, since I've seen you here in New York I've realised that you fit in here so well. It's so busy and demanding and you can handle it. The slowing down you had to do to move to San Diego must have been harsh." He explained, I nodded in understanding. "What I'm saying is that I never pictured you this way is all, and I do like it." He grabbed my hand and kissed it softly.

"Okay Romeo, let's order some food." I chuckled and picked up the menu.

After we left the restaurant I walked over to Jonathan and asked him to take me to a place I used to go to when I was younger. It was near the Brooklyn bridge, but you could see the whole city lit up and it looks beautiful. "Where are we going?" Vic whined for the millionth time.

"It's a surprise." I told him. He didn't like it though, oh well.

We pulled up near the bridge and I got out, excitedly. Vic followed me and I grabbed his hand, and began running towards the balcony. "Isn't it beautiful?" I asked, my eyes dancing over every lit up building in front of us.

"It's amazing." He breathed out. I looked at him and he had a look of amazement on his face.

"I used to come here all the time, that and the Empire State Building. My two safety nets." I told him. He looked down at me and wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

Silence fell between us and I felt so happy and content. "What's gonna happen when we go back to San Diego?" Vic suddenly asked. I looked out into the horizon and smiled.

"Anything we want." I mumbled happily.

"Do you want to be my girlfriend?" He suddenly asked. I looked at him and he was already looking at me.

"I just flew halfway across the country to get you but nah, I don't wanna be your girlfriend." I said sarcastically. He shut me up by kissing me quickly, takin my breath away. He pulled away and smirked at me.

"I'm gonna take that as a yes okay." He said softly and he turned his gaze to the city.

"It's getting cold, do you wanna go back to my grandparents'?" I asked, watching my breath in front of me.

"Of course." He said grabbing my hand and leading me back to the car. This feels like a fairytale, and I'm so happy to be a part of it.
