You'd Better Hide the Bullets

She is Shy Apparently

I was fuming, raging with the audacity that asshole has to lock me in a cupboard for the rest of the school day. I missed my afternoon classes and my mom was contacted. Patrick and Pete couldn't find me since I had no idea where I was myself, sucks being new doesn't it. A janitor found me around 3pm and escorted me to the principles office, thinking I was deliberately skipping classes. Nah this isn't fair. I've been given detention tomorrow after school for this.

My feet stomped across the parking lot as I searched for my car. I found it and my heart began racing. Vic was sitting on the hood of my car, as if he was some sort of model. This made me move faster to get him off my car. His eyes lit up when he seen me approach him. "Hey friend, how was the rest of school?" He asked innocently.

"Amazing, it was great." I was with my voice oozing of sarcasm. This only made him happier. "Get off my car." I said sternly.

He smirked at me. "Nah I like it here." He shrugged. I nodded and laughed.

"Fine, be that way." I mumbled and walked to the drivers door. I unlocked the door and then got in. He turned on the hood of the car and smirked at me through the wind shield. I rolled the window down. "Get off the car or I'll remove you myself." I told him.

"You wouldn't." He grinned at me. His face makes me so angry. I started the ignition and then put my foot on the accelerator. The car moved forward suddenly and Vic dramatically rolled off the hood of the car, which I stopped immediately. He let out a loud scream which gave me a fright. I shut off the ignition and jumped out of the car.

"Oh my God, are you okay?" I panicked and ran round to the front of the car. He was lying on the ground laughing his ass off.

"Got you." He giggled. I rolled my eyes and flipped him off.

"Next time I won't stop." I said folding my arms across my chest.

He picked himself up off the floor and and smiled "sweetly" at me. I made a grossed out face at him. "Well this was fun, see you tomorrow babe." He said winking at me and walking off to his car.

Babe? Seriously. I shuddered at the thought of the name. Who the Hell does he think he is. I genuinely have never hated anyone as much in my whole life. I got back into my car and drove home, anger and confusion swirling around my brain.

-

The next morning I walked into school and decided to head straight to my music class, which I missed yesterday because of Vic locking me in a closet. My mom and dad were so angry at me, especially since I just got the new car and they think I'm defying them. I feel so bad but they won't believe me.

I walked through the door of the music room and there was no one there, the piano in the corner was so enticing so I went over and sat down in front of it. I miss playing piano, it was one of my favourite hobbies but I stopped when I discovered makeup and boys. I wish I never did to be honest.

My fingers grazed over the piano keys, a familiar tune began to get stuck in my head so I decided to play it. The words came out of my mouth, so easily and as if they were just waiting for this moment. Suddenly the door opened and a guy around 30 walked in wearing a shirt and tie. I guess he is the music teacher. "Oh hi. I didn't know there was anyone in here." He said with a small laugh.

"Yeah I missed the class yesterday so I thought I'd come and get a little extra practice before class started today." I explained to him. He seemed shocked that I'd come and do that.

"People never come in for extra practice, I guess you're enthusiastic about music then?" He asked me, placing some files on his desk.

"I used to be but I lost my passion. I kinda miss it though." I laughed a little, looking down at the keys.

"Well I hope you find it again in this class. It's a little crazy but you do sound good. I did listen for a few seconds before I came in." He smiled and walked over to his desk.

The morning bell rang and I decided to go find a seat to sit in. Students began flooding into the classroom and to my disgust Vic, Jaime and Tony walked in. They were loudly talking about something pointless. Vic looked over to me and winked. I faked being sick and it made him laugh even more.

Pete walked in and looked around the room, he noticed me and then walked over to me. "Hey what's up?" He asked as he plonked himself down on a chair next to me.

"Nothing much, almost got my car taken off me cause some ASSHOLE locked me in a cupboard." I said loud enough for Vic to hear. He turned his head to look at me and shrugged.

"Okay class go and get your instruments and practice for your first assessment. Scarlett can I speak to you." The teacher said to me. I nodded and walked down to the front of the class. "I'm Mr Haynes by the way." He told me. "Okay I need you to play the song you were playing when I walked in. Or another it's up to you. I just need to quickly assess your level." He explained to me.

"But like there's a lot of people in here." I said nervously. He nodded in agreement.

"Don't worry, they all have to do this at some point. They won't be listening to you because they're all gonna do their work." He smiled at me. I nodded slowly and walked over to the piano.

Mr Haynes followed me and sat next to me, a notepad in his lap and a pen. I looked at the keys and suddenly felt very nauseous. "Okay." I said to myself. Preparing myself even.

I knew this song so perfectly, thankfully. My fingers danced over the keys, pressing lightly on the correct ones. "Waking up I see that everything is okay. The first time in my life and now it's so great. Slowing down I look around and I am so amazed. I think about the little things that make life great. I wouldn't change a thing about it, this is the best feeling." I sung softly. I could feel eyes beginning to glue on me. It made me feel nervous but I had to do it. "This innocence is brilliant, I hope that it will stay. This moment is perfect, please don't go away. I need you now and I'll hold on to it, don't you let it pass you by." My heart was racing. I looked towards Vic and he was staring at me. In awe. Nice.

I finished the song as quickly as possible, noticing that most of the class were now staring at me. It's kinda odd because everyone looks shocked by my talent. "Well, that was good. You're a lot better than I thought. Hmm." Mr Haynes nodded, looking at what he had written down. "I wonder..." He spoke to himself.

"Everyone is staring at me." I whispered nervously. He looked up and nodded.

"Everyone back to work okay. Jaime up with the bassist." He warned. Jaime stood up in a huffy way and stomped over to where Pete and some other kid was sitting. "Vic, down here." He said to Vic.

Vic sauntered over to the piano and leaned on it, staring down at me and Mr Haynes. "Yes Sir?" He asked politely. What a fake asshole.

"You're aware of the recital in three weeks yes?" He asked Vic, whom just nodded. "Well I need two singers to do a duet at the recital, and I think you guys are the perfect candidates. What you think?" He asked us.

"That'd be swell." Vic grinned at me.

"I guess." I said quietly.

"The song that has been chosen is Alone by Heart, you guys know it?" I nodded and Vic did too. "Great, so I'll need you guys to stay a few extra days after school to practice but you can use this as an opportunity to gain some musical experience. I know you're really into your music Vic." Mr Haynes said nicely. He seems like such a nice guy. Not like more teachers in this school.

"Thank you for the opportunity Sir." Vic nodded down at the teacher in front of him. I rolled my eyes at his fakeness.

"Okay well I'll get back to you on practice dates, go and work on some stuff." He told us. I stood up and quickly walked back over to where Pete was sitting.

"You're really good." He told me as I sat down.

"Thank you, it was kinda unfair that I got made to do that but whatever." I laughed.

"Have fun with your duet though." He winked at me and continued playing his bass.

Lunch rolled around pretty quickly, I met up with Patrick and Pete in the lunch queue. I got a sandwich and a can of soda. We then walked over to Amber and Lewis who were having a debate over which superhero was better. Spider-Man or batman. "Spider-Man actually has powers. He's clearly better." Amber protested.

"Yeah but an ordinary man like Bruce Wayne puts his life at risk to save other people. How is that not better?" Lewis pointed out. "The thing is that Spider-Man is ordinary too but he has a power to shield him from some danger, batman doesn't!" Lewis was so passionate about this.

"I always liked the villains more." I announced. They both looked at me like I'd just spit in their food. "Sorry." I shrugged.

"Like who?" Amber asked.

"The riddler, the joker, bane, venom etc etc etc." I told them.

"Okay some of them are good but like the hero is always the best." Lewis said taking a bite of his sandwich.

"But the thing with the hero is they always win. In reality the bad guy is always the winner. I mean look at school? The bullies are on top. I stood up to Vic and his minions but they're still on top. I can try to be the hero here but they're ALWAYS going to win." I pointed out.

"So in a round about way you basically just said you like Vic." Pete jumped in. They all oohed and ahhed.

"Oh yes, I totally like him. He's so hot when he throws me against lockers and locks me in janitors closets almost getting my car taken off me. What a guy he is." I rolled my eyes and bit into my sandwich.

"You chicks love a bad boy." Pete laughed. I rolled my eyes at him. "Seriously, I mean look at us. We are all single; why? Because we are nice guys." Pete pointed out. "And then look at that." He nodded towards Vic's table. There was 3 girl's all over Vic, Tony and Jaime. Mike didn't look at all interested in it though which is weird. "You see my point now?" He asked feeling smug.

"Okay, but I bet I could go over there and cock block him so badly." I said with a huge grin on my face.

"Are you sure?" Patrick asked raising his eyebrows.

"Twenty bucks says I can get him to be all over me within 5 minutes." I said leaning forwards towards the guys.

They all looked at each other and nodded. "Deal." Patrick said with a knowing grin. He thinks he's gonna win this one. Nope.

I stood up, took one last drink of my Pepsi and then saluted the guys. I turned on my heels and walked over towards Vic's table. The girl all over Vic looked at me and whispered something to him, which made him look towards me. He kinda scooted away from her as I finally approached his table. "Hey Vic, how are you?" I asked, putting on the most flirtatious tone I could muster.

He looked up at me with the strangest look on his face. Please don't ruin this for me. "Hi? What do you want?" He shook his head.

"Oh I just wanted to see what you were up to." I smiled the worst fake smile ever. I decided to sit down on his lap and wrap my arms around his neck.

The shock was written all over his face. He didn't know what to do. "Okay I'm fine." He mumbled.

"Awe I'm glad to hear it Victor." I told him with a sweet tone in my voice. "Wow I really like your hair today, it's really hot." I sounded so fake but for some reason it was working. He slowly put his hands on my back.

"Thanks umm you look nice too." He told me. This isn't working, those girls aren't leaving. I gotta pull out the big guns now.

"Thank you babe." I grinned. Okay just get it over with Scarlett. I quickly leaned in and kissed his lips. He went completely stiff, probably totally and utterly shocked. Suddenly he kissed me back and it's all backfiring. I somehow can't stop kissing him and it's getting really awkward now. I pulled back and looked away, towards my friends. They were all staring in shock and then began laughing when they seen my expression. Vic followed my gaze and realise what had been going on. I also noticed the girls had left the table.

"Well aren't you a massive bitch." He mumbled, slowly pushing me off his lap onto the seat next to him. He got up and stormed off out of the lunch room. I looked to his brother and two friends. They looked shocked at the whole situation.

"Okay I'm confused. Why are you suddenly kissing Vic?" Jaime asked.

"I just made twenty bucks." I winked at him then stood up, walking over to my table. I sat down and held my hand out for my money. They all forked up five bucks each.

"Thank you guys, what a great friend I am." I smiled at them.

"I can't believe you kissed him." Patrick shook his head.

"Yeah he looked so shocked but then stormed off looking so sad." Pete pointed out. "Oh well he's an asshole." He shrugged. It's strange because I really don't wanna upset him even though he is a total jerk. Hmm.
