You'd Better Hide the Bullets

The sound of someone thumping their fist on my front door woke me up, my parents were in bed, hopefully they wouldn't be pissed off at whoever it was at the front door. I got out of my bed and walked downstairs. My mom had answered the door, I couldn't see who it was but I heard her speaking. She looked at me and I realised Ali was standing behind me too. "Girls, come down here." She said softly. Me and Ali both looked at each other with confusion all over our faces.

Once we reached the bottom of the stairs we both noticed that there was two police officers at our door. "Mom what's going on?" I asked, fear beginning to run through my veins.

"Go sit down in the living room." She told me. We both went and sat on the couches. My mom and the police officers followed us. My mom sitting next to me and the officers on the other couch.

"I'm officer Jackson and this is my colleague officer Benson. We are here to ask you a few questions about..." He stopped to look at his notepad. "Vic Fuentes." My heart began beating rapidly. Oh no.

"What's happened to him?" Ali asked frantically.

"Mr Fuentes was reported missing tonight after he failed to return home for the last two nights." Officer Benson spoke up.

I felt Ali tense up beside me. I grabbed her hand and she looked at me, tears in her eyes. "I haven't seen him since Thursday night." She choked. Her voice beginning to crack.

"When was the last time you see him, Scarlett is it?" Officer Jackson asked me, his voice monotone.

"I seen him on Friday night." I said softly. Ali looked at me and raised her eyebrows.

"And where did you see him?" The officer questioned.

"I was at my friend Jaime Preciado's house. He was supposed to be going to the cinema with Jaime but something came up. Vic walked out and I left Jaime's house, passing Vic but we never spoke. That was the last I seen him." I explained. The officer nodded and wrote down details.

"Does Vic have any enemies? Anyone who would want to hurt him or something?" Officer Jackson asked.

"Honestly, I don't know. He's not the nicest guy in school so I can understand why someone would wanna get revenge on him but not this far, not as far enough to really physically hurt him." I explained to the officers.

"What about arguments, has anything been happening between him and your friends? What about you, Alison? You're his girlfriend right?" Ali nodded at the question.

"No, we've been great actually." She said forcefully. I looked at her and I could tell straight away she was lying through her teeth.

"Well that's all we need right now. If you hear anything then please contact us." They both stood up, handing me and Ali a card with their numbers on it. "Sorry to bring this news to you at such a late hour of the night." Officer Benson said as they began walking out of the house. My mom closed the door and walked into the living room.

"I'm sorry this has happened girls, go back to bed and we can talk about this in the morning.

We all went back upstairs and to our own rooms but around five minutes later there was a knock on my door. I walked over to it and opened it to reveal Ali standing there, completely breaking down. "Scarlett I need to talk to you." She sobbed. I let her into my room and she sat on my bed.

"What is it Ali?" I asked, closing my door. She began crying her eyes out.

"It's my fault Vic has gone missing, I've drove him away." She cried. I furrowed my eyebrows at her and she just kept on crying.

"Explain." I demanded. She looked up and wiped away her tears.

"It was me sending you those notes, I wanted you to stay away from him. You could take him at any moment but I really love him." She said, more tears forming in her eyes. "After he found out it was me I blackmailed him with a video of us having sex, I made it look as though he raped me so that he wouldn't leave me." She explained. I felt sick to my stomach that my own sister would do that to anyone, just out of a selfish impulse. "I gave him the choice, me or you. He chose me but only to save his own ass and now he's ran off. Scared because of me. I'm a horrible human being." She cried.

I walked up to her and slapped her hard across he face. She let out a loud yelp and fell backwards onto the floor. "What kinda heartless bitch are you?" I almost screamed at her. She held onto her cheek and sobbed her eyes out.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." She cried and cried.

"Where's the video?" I asked sternly.

"On my phone." She replied. I stormed off into her room and grabbed her phone. I unlocked it and then went to her videos. I found it and quickly deleted it and made sure it was gone forever. I walked back into her room and threw her phone at her feet.

"It's gone, it better not be backed up somewhere because if it is and you threaten him with it I'll take it to the police and tell them you're blackmailing him and that's why he's gone missing." I warned her.

"I don't want to hurt him, I didn't think it'd go this far. I'm so sorry Scarlett." She sobbed and sobbed. I couldn't even look at her, she was disgusting me.

"Get out of my fucking room." I demanded. She scrambled to her feet and left my room. I checked my phone and noticed it was 3:45am. I quickly threw on a hoody and vans, walking down the stairs and unlocking the front door.

I ran across the street and knocked on the Fuentes' door. Mike answered and he had puffy red eyes. "Scarlett, have you heard?" He asked. I felt like my heart was breaking in front of me.

"Vic is missing and it's all Ali's fault." I told him quickly.

"How do you know?" He asked frantically.

"She was black mailing him with a video and it sent him over the edge. Mike we have to find him." I rushed. Mike nodded, letting me into his house. We at up all night trying to contact him and work out where he went.
