You'd Better Hide the Bullets

In a Storm of Feeling, I'm so Unappealing

"We need to use our detective skills and work this one out, who could it be?" Patrick scratched his head.

"Someone we just aren't thinking of." I suggested. He nodded and looked down at his book.

"Okay let's write down possible candidates." He ripped a piece of paper out of his book and wrote 'people messing with Scar' which made me smile a little. I watched him write down some names and it couldn't help but laugh at some of his suspects.

"Vic? Really?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Well it's possible." He pushed his glasses further up his nose.

"How? Why would he do that?" I was baffled by the sheer idea that Vic was behind this.

"Maybe in some twisted way he's doing all this to make it look like someone is out to get you guys, so that he can comfort you and show that he's actually a really good guy." Patrick explained his theory.

"Okay that makes a little sense but let's be real here, Vic doesn't play around like that. He'd rather just push me to feel something for him. Hey wait, he already did that." I said sarcastically.

"Okay fine." Patrick said as he scribbled out Vic's name. He wrote down everyone else that he thought might be involved.

Jaime
Mike
Tony
Amber
Pete
Ali
Lewis
Vic's ex girlfriend(s)

"Okay this is interesting. Maybe it is one of Vic's ex girlfriends?" I said out loud.

"That's what I was thinking. It would make sense because he has a lot of them." Patrick laughed.

"It would make sense though. Although how would they have gotten the notebook out of his house?" I pointed out.

"Maybe they took it while we were still at school?" Patrick suggested.

"The last entry was dated for Christmas Eve." I told him. He looked away with a thoughtful look on his face.

"Or maybe that's what this person wanted you to think." Patrick looked back at me, a huge grin on his face.

"What are you trying to say Patrick?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well, maybe ask Vic when he wrote the last entry. If he says Christmas Eve then the ex girlfriend theory is off the list." Patrick smiled at me. The bell rang for lunch and we got our stuff together and walked to the lunch hall. I noticed Vic was the only one at the table.

I sat down next to him and Patrick sat across from us. Vic opened his mouth to say something but I cut him off. "Okay before you say anything I wanna apologise for over reacting yesterday. I now realise it was stupid and you didn't do anything deliberately to hurt me." I said quickly. Vic nodded and stared at me. "I don't know the circumstances that happened that day to make you feel that way but please answer me this one question." I said finally taking a breath.

"Okay." He looked so confused and bombarded.

"When did you write the last diary entry for your notebook?" I asked him, hope in my eyes.

"Around the start of December. Why?" Vic asked, looking back and forth between me and Patrick.

Patrick gave me a hopeful look. "Do you have any ex girlfriends who hate you, would want to get revenge on you?" I felt like I was quizzing him.

"Probably, why?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Maybe the person screwing with me is an ex of yours." I pointed out. He nodded and thought about it for a second.

"Could be but I highly doubt it. Everyone knows I have a girlfriend so why would they miss with you instead of my girlfriend?" Vic said. Me and Patrick both stared at him and then looked at each other.

"He has a very good point." Patrick pointed towards Vic and nodded. Vic held his hands up and shrugged.

"And now we are back to square one." I threw my head down on the desk and groaned really loudly. Suddenly everyone else from our group down at the table.

"What's up with you?" I presume to be Mike asked.

"She can't work out who he mystery person is." Vic said with a hint of laughter in his voice.

I sat up and looked at him. "You know, who ever it is clearly wants to use our secrets to hurt the other person so why don't we just lay it all out there?" I asked. Vic thought for a second and nodded.

"Okay." He smiled. I stood up and motioned for him and Patrick to follow me.

"Hey do we smell or something?" Jaime shouted after us.

"Just a little bit." I called back at Jaime.

We walked to the back of school and stood. "Okay so why did I have to come?" Patrick scratched the back of his head, fixing his hat.

"Because if we both have secrets to share then I can't guarantee that I won't want to punch Vic's face in and well, I might need you to pull me off him." I said as sweetly as possible.

"Hey I could totally get you off me." Vic grinned at me. I rolled my eyes at crossed my arms over my chest.

"Anyway, you go first." I nodded to Vic.

"Okay... Let me think. Oh yeah, I sorta told some people that we slept together." He shrugged. My jaw hung open, what the Hell.

"That's downright gross, why would you do that?" I shook my head at him.

"Some guys in my math class were talking about how hot you are so I kinda bragged about sleeping with you cause, I wanted them to back off." He said casually. It's like an insult within a compliment or maybe it's the other way about. Either way it's weird.

"Right, well I guess my next one ties in with that one." I laughed a little. Vic and Patrick both raised their eyebrows. "It was me who spread the rumour about you having a tiny dick." I smirked at Vic.

"Wow, how rude of you." He said with a fake sad look on his face. "You don't even know that so, it's unfair that you'd lie about that." He huffed.

"I can't help it if that's what I've heard." I shrugged, a small smirk on my face still.

"I don't, I'll prove it to you right now." He grabbed his belt buckle and began to unloop it.

Patrick's had flew over his eye instantly. "Vic take your hands away from your fucking pants and don't dare drop them!" He screamed at Vic. We all began laughing and Vic fixed his belt.

"Fine, whatever. Ignorance is bliss." He mumbled. "It was me who stole your car for an hour when you and Ali had a huge argument and you thought she took it. It was actually me and well, she convinced me to." Vic explained. I assumed it was my sister but hey, he's a dirty thief because of her.

"I was the one who put itching powder in your dirty washing when you cleaned your clothes at mines." I said with a smug look on my face.

"Nice, I actually thought it was Mike." He laughed.

"Okay this is a shitty idea, none of these things can be used against each other." Patrick said with a fed up tone.

Vic looked at me as if he was debating on saying something. "Okay, this one is definitely relevant. Me and Tony made a bet before we began dating Alex and Ali. He bet me twenty bucks that I couldn't make you become one of us and take you to prom." He explained. A part of me wanted to punch him but then another part of me wanted to hug him for telling me.

"So you bet that I would become a bully like you?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Well this was way before I knew anything about your past so, I didn't know any better." Vic sighed, looking kinda guilty.

"It's fine." I shrugged. Patrick got bored and walked off in front of us. Me and Vic just looked at each other and then began walking after Patrick. "Well I guess you Tony twenty bucks." I nudged him.

"We are all friends now so you're kinda like me, I guess." He pointed out, I rolled my eyes at his stupid comment.

"Actually you're more like me now. So you were half right." I looked at him and he made a face at me.

"Maybe I can get ten dollars off him." Vic said aloud.

We were almost late for Neck Deep, Patrick took too long to get the directions and forgot our tickets at home so we had to go back when we were already half way there. Vic sat in the back, whining like a child. "Thank God we made it." Patrick sighed as we turned into the parking lot.

Neck Deep would be on stage in 5 minutes. We got out, locked the car and basically ran across the parking lot to the doors. We handed our tickets in and then walked into the venue, just in time for them to come on stage. "That was close." I laughed at as we walked into the room they were playing in. The venue was tiny, maybe 300 people. They weren't the headliners and we haven't decided if we are going to stay for the headliners.

Patrick disappeared into the crowd, leaving me and Vic standing alone near the back. I began singing along to parts of the sons that I knew. Vic had a smile on his lips which made me smile a little. "Well what did you expect? A fucking compliment?" I sung along, as loud as I could. I could feel Vic's eyes staring into the side of my head. I looked at him and he tried to look away, pretending that he wasn't looking at me.

A Part of Me came on and I could feel my heart beginning to race. My hands began to grow a little sweaty and I felt awkward, this song just made me think of Vic, everything about it reminded me of the situation between me and him. "I was falling for a girl who'd ask me to come over just for a day, when her parents were away. Now all I could do is lay in my room, fall asleep, dream of you and then wake up and do nothing about it." Suddenly Vic grabbed my hand and laced our fingers together, I looked down at our hands and I felt a small smile creep up on my lips. I looked at Vic's face and he had a content smile on it, relaxing me and making me feel really happy.

We stayed like that until the band finished their set, as soon as we noticed Patrick approach us we let go of each other's hands. "That was so good, what did you think?" Patrick beamed at us, his hair was clamped to his head with sweat. He fixed his hat and glasses.

"They were so good." I smiled at Patrick. "Hey I'm gonna head to the merch desk and get a shirt, I'll be back soon." I told them. I went to the merch desk and there was a huge line.

I joined the back of it and it took so long to dwindle down. I was about halfway down the line when the headliners took to the stage, they didn't sound particularly great but I guess we are stuck here until I get my shirt. Eventually I got down to the front of the line and bought my shirt. I thanked the guy and gave him a tip. When I turned to walk away I bumped into someone. "Sorry." He said with a very strong English accent. I looked up at the person and noticed it was the lead singer, Ben I think his name is.

"Oh, it's okay. Sorry for being extremely clumsy." I apologised.

"Don't worry about it." He smiled down at me.

"The set was really good, I'm glad I came. My friend told me to listen to you guys and come to this show so I did and it paid off." I gushed to him. He seemed really sweet actually.

"I'm really glad you did come and enjoyed yourself. I hope we see you again sometime soon." Ben grinned down at me.

"Would you mind if I got a picture with you?" I asked. He looked at me and nodded, I pulled my phone out and snapped a couple pictures with him. He was totally sweet.

"Thank you." I said hugging him. He hugged me back and said goodbye.

I walked back into the venue hall where the bands were playing and found Vic and Patrick. The were both chatting away and I felt completely over the moon that I got to meet a member of the band I was here to see. He seemed so nice too.
