Hold On Till May

Signing Days

Julia’s POV

I walked through the hallway to lunch, trying to focus on my thoughts as I was mobbed by other students.

Tony was acting weird yesterday when we got home from the studio…Should I be worried about him? I hope he’s okay…

I pushed the cafeteria doors open and walked over to the back door to the cafeteria kitchen.
As I opened it, I spoke. “Hey there Rosie.”
“Hello Julia.” The skinny woman turned towards me and held out a tray full of food. I took it out of her hands.
“Thank You.”
“You can eat in here again if you like. We have a table for you.” I shook my head.
“No thank you. I promised 50 people autographs today. I gotta go out there and sign.”
“Well why would you do that honey?”
“Because they wouldn’t stop mobbing me yesterday morning.”
“Well just come see me tomorrow. I want you to eat here. Okay?”
“Yes. I promise.” I smiled at her. Ever since my freshman year, Rosie has always been there. Almost like a mother, but not really. She made sure me and Tony had money before Pierce the Veil became big. It really meant a lot to us. She was always there.
“Good. Don’t die at your signing.” She waved at me as I walked out the door.
“I’ll try not to!” I chuckled.

I walked to an empty table where there was a long line.

Let’s do this!

I sat down as people screamed at me and reached out to touch me. I smiled at the first person waiting in line. It was a small girl, more than likely a freshman. She had curly hair and was wearing an over sized jacket and a beanie. She reminded me of myself when I was a freshman.

“Hi. What’s your name?”
“M-my name i-is Athena. C-can you s-sign th-this?” She held out a poster with me and Tony pictured on it. It was me and Tony half-hugging on stage with our guitars hanging around our necks, and our other free hands being held in victory.
“I love this poster Athena!” I quickly signed my name.
“R-really? S-sorry about m-my st-st-stutter. I’m r-really nervous…I st-stutter all th-the time.”
“Hey, Athena. Don’t worry about it. When I was a freshman, wait are you a freshman?”
“Y-yes.”
“When I was a freshman, I stuttered so much. Eventually Tony helped me get over that.”
“R-really? H-how?” “I can help you Athena. Here.” I pulled my notebook out of my bag and tore a page out. I scribbled my name and number down. I slid it across the table to her.
“Call me or text me whenever. We can go get some Starbucks or something.”
“Th-Thank You. F-for everyth-thing.” Her hand shook as she reached out for it.
“No problem Athena.” She turned and walked away. I waved my hand for the next person to come forward.

Time to keep signing I guess.
