Worlds Over, Time to Die. Nothing Left but our Souls Inside.

March 26, 2015- Jaime Preciado

Lately I've been chosen to go on supply runs with Mike and Alysha. They're not actually that bad in the fact that I get to bash zombies heads in but also arrive back as a hero like figure. Sure I'm not actually a hero, but when I come back with supplies and everyone is so happy to see me, especially Jess, the feeling I get is as close as I can get to the feelings I got when I was performing.

I've missed that feeling so much. I think that's why I risk my life for supply runs. Just so I can have a bit of feeling.

---

Mike and I were gearing up for a supply run today. Alysha was somewhere else at the time but Vic walked up to us. He said with a strong word that he is coming on a supply run with us. Naturally, Mike opposed saying that he wants to protect his brother and keep him safe and camp and I said I didn't want Vic getting hurt and I'd rather him stay and watch the girls and camp. He resented our arguments. He came with us.

While out on the run, I strayed away from the group. It wasn't intentional, I was just looking for supplies. I walked away without warning, I don't think they noticed, because when I turned around, they weren't there. I couldn't see them and I couldn't recognise where I was.

For a second, it felt like time had shifted in how quickly I lost sight of the group, but it was still daylight, so I had plenty of time to find them.

As I was walking, I collected a great deal of good quality firewood and berries. It was the best supply run I had been on. I had so much stuff to carry it was nearly spilling over my small basket. I still did the best I could to keep everything.

Through my travels, I noticed a plume of smoke in the distance. My first thoughts were survivors. Erin! I ran as fast i could in the direction of smoke, my heart beating at the thought I could find Erin, or other survivors. When I arrived, I was heartbroken.

There were survivors. But not anymore. A truck was ruined in ashes. Just smouldering in the cracked ground. My heart spilt into pieces. I did not find Erin and I did not find survivors. I found unfortunate casualties. 2 adults in the front, and 2 small children in the back.

It reminded me instantly of my family. This family was killed in a fire. My family killed in the fires of the collapse of California. I fell to pieces inside.

I heard something behind me. I heard a deep groan. I turned to a zombie only mere metres from me. I dropped my basket, spilling everything everywhere. I grab the first thing I saw and swung. My heart racing a thousand miles per hour, i continued to swing at the zombies head. The adrenaline from the fright forcing me to swing and crush the zombies head.

Blood spattered everywhere. Covering my clothes and face and the weapon I used. But it didn't stop there. More zombies appeared. They must have seen the smoke plume too and was drawn to it like I was. There must have been 5 or 6 by the time I finished with the first zombie.

Fear rushed through my like a racing car in a race. Blood pounded at my heart and adrenaline kept kicking me. I just kept swinging in all directions. Wherever they were I swung, there was no stopping me. I was uncontrollable. My body taking over my mind and releasing absolute fury upon the zombies.

Their bodies squished against the ground as my weapon attacked them. Blood constantly spattered and flesh thrown everywhere. They kept coming from every direction but my eyesight was slowly becoming limited. Night was approaching. I still swung my weapon, grunts of air leaving my lungs as my body exhausted all of it's power.

The sun had set after I had killed the last zombie. I counted the bodies. 13 zombies. I took heavy breaths and let my arms dangle. I had exhausted everything into killing them. I was wrecked. I was drenched in blood and flesh. It was a frightening time.

My mind still wasn't straight, but I picked up my basket and found the supplies that I could before I walked back to camp. I had no idea where I was going, nor could I see. There wasn't even a moon tonight. I just limbed my way across the land and rubble. I saw a glow in the distance. I followed it and it let to my camp.

I limped slowly to them, holding my basket by the very tips of my fingers. I was weak and exhausted. I was dehydrated and I was under nourished. Not living like I used to has taken it's toll on me.

Vic and Mike ran to my aid as soon as my face caught the light of the flame. I dropped the basket and fell into Vic and mikes adjoined arms. They lifted my arms over their shoulders and dragged me to the unit. Jess bolted to me, screaming and crying and the others followed.

They cleaned my face and gave me a clean blanket while they washed my blood stained clothes. I fell asleep for the first time in ages.

My advice to anyone who may read this, do not ever give up. No matter what life throws at you, you cannot give up. It may be your last chance to fight and you cannot give up. Please live for me.

Notes

So here is another thrilling instalment of Jaime. I hope you lovelies like it.

Also, when I do my diary entries, because I live in another country to the other writers, my dates will be one day ahead. Timezones. Haha

OMG!!!! I'm so happy right now! Can this happen for real though?!
For some reason I fell like D.C has something to do with a quarantine. Like they get there but they find this wall of sorts and they're denied entry because they've been in the "infected" zone. It could be all of the zombie/disease books I've been reading, too. I read "The Girl with All of the Gifts" by M.R Carey before this story and just reread "Dreamcatcher" by Stephen King. Can't wait for more!
