Worlds Over, Time to Die. Nothing Left but our Souls Inside.

Vic went out with Mike, Alysha, and Jaime. I think it goes without saying just how much that worried me. I mean if something happened, not only would I lose my boyfriend but also his little brother and one of my best friends. Yeah Mike and I aren’t that close but he is still like a brother to me and I would lose it if anything happened to him. I had already lost Erin and I don’t think I could handle losing Alysha also. She was one of the only ones in the group who seemed to be holding it together the best.

Honestly any supply run scared me. There was a risk that no one was coming back. It didn’t matter how fast or how strong you were, anything could happen to anyone. We weren’t sure what exactly caused people to turn into these zombie things so we had to be on high alert at all times.

On a bit of a brighter note, we managed to make the storage unit a bit more personal. We had sectioned it off with bits of wood and blankets and all of us had our own ‘room’. It wasn’t much but it gave us some privacy. However it didn’t stop the sounds of weeping at night. None of us really knew how to comfort those who had lost someone or those who didn’t know how their families were.

After Vic left I got restless and walked around the unit to stretch my legs. Jessica and Kellin were on lookout duty. Jessica told me that there had been a few zombies nearby but none had wandered our direction.

Then I heard someone sobbing near by. None of us were supposed to wander too far from the unit unless we were in groups. I followed the sound of the sobbing and found Tony sitting against a tree with a picture of Erin and a guitar. The strings were broken and his fingers were bleeding. I ripped part of my shirt and started wrapping his fingers up. He didn’t even look at me as I bandaged his fingers. I moved the guitar out of his lap and pulled him to me. I held him tight as he cried into my shoulder. Nothing I could say would make things better so I just let him cry.

We sat there for what felt like hours. He finally pulled away and wiped his face, still refusing to look at me. I sat back and stared off in the distance. It was quiet for now but we never knew how long that would be. I was so lost in thought that I nearly missed moment not that far away. I tapped Tony’s shoulder and pointed to what I was seeing.

I put my fingers to my lips and reached down to my ankle. I pulled out a knife I had there and started creeping in the direction that I saw movement. It was only about 300 feet from us and it was inspecting some of the empty units. I felt Tony creeping along behind me. I looked back and he had a tree branch and he was holding it like a bat.

As we crept closer, we saw that it was indeed a zombie thing. It’s pace was slow but it seemed to be looking for something. It would look in a unit, make a noise, then move on. I looked at Tony and he just shrugged. We hid behind a car and waited for our chance. At the rate the zombie was going it would reach our unit by nightfall so it was best to just get rid of it now.
We waited for it to get closer to attack. We wanted to take it by surprise and do it quick. We didn’t want to cause a commotion if other zombies were near. We waited until the zombie was at the front of the car and we attacked. I ran out and stabbed it’s arm and when it was focused on me, Tony ran behind it and clubbed it on the back of the head. The zombie fell to the ground motionless. It wasn’t dead though, merely stunned. Before I could say anything, Tony started bashing the zombies head. He didn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon and I wasn’t about to try and stop him.

That was until I heard a noise and turned to see four more zombies heading in our direction. I yelled for Tony to look up and when he did I saw a strange look in his eyes, gone was the sadness, it was replaced by a hunger for blood. He lunged at the closests zombie and I had no choice but to follow suit. The zombies weren’t fast but they were strong. We had the element of surprise with the first one but not with these four. Tony and I went back to back and fought them off. By the time we were finished both of us were covered in brain and blood. We headed back to the unit and told Jessica and Kellin about what happened.

After that I grabbed some clothes and headed to the until right next to ours. We had set it up like a bath house/shower. We didn’t have much water so we had to use it sparingly. I heated some water up using a bucket and a fire and stripped down and washed off. When I was done I left the water and switched places with Tony who was outside keeping guard.

When he was done we both headed back to the unit and here I am now. I can do nothing but twiddle my thumbs and hope everyone comes back alright. It is almost nightfall and they still have yet to return. I take over guard duty in…. Wait I hear something, Jessica is shouting.

Well that was a bit more than I expected honestly o.O

I hope you guys like this chapter. This story is waaay different than any I have done before and it's a challenge. I like it ^^
