I Introduce The Selfish Machine

Forty Two

I was leaned over the kitchen counter, promising myself this would be the last line. I inhaled the power through a rolled up $100 that I have to put in the duffle bag to pay for the bag I just bought. I wasn't going to try to go out and sell, I was going to pay for it all out of my own pocket. Now, how I get rid of the cocaine, I don't know.
"Babe!" Tony called out from the bedroom. Terrified, I threw the ziplock bag filled with cocaine under the sink, stuffed the money in my pocket and knocked the baking soda out of a cabinet, making a mess on the floor. I rather Tony see that than the cocaine.
Tony walked in with a smile on his face, but halted when he saw the mess. "What happened?" He asked.
"I was trying to get the baking soda out so I could put it in the fridge, but I accidentally dropped it." I lied.
"Oh, okay." Tony said, not suspecting anything. "You have a lunch date with Seren, don't you?"
I looked over at the oven, which read the time 12:30. "Oh crap. I completely forgot." I said, resisting the urge to rub my neck. I never rub my neck unless I'm high or thinking about getting high. It hasn't kicked in yet, but I know it's about to happen.
"Yeah, Vic texted me asking me if I wanted to go drink with him because Seren's at lunch and you're supposed to be there."
"I'll text her. I wanted to clean today, so I didn't even think about it. Wow I feel bad." I rushed out of the kitchen to grab my purse. Tony followed behind me.
"I'm sure she'll understand." Tony said, then leaned down to kiss me. His nose is way too close to mine right now. "I love you."
"I love you." I said, and meant it.
Then I left, feeling like such a bitch for lying to him.

I can pull off being high very well, Seren couldn't even tell I was. It was wearing off by the time I pulled up to the apartment complex. Hopefully Tony was still out with Vic so I could do a line real quick. I opened the door and made a beeline for the kitchen, but stopped dead in my tracks when I got to the dining table.
Tony was standing on the other side of it, with the duffle bag opened wide. I tried not to look guilty, but I knew he could tell I was. He knows. "What the hell is this, Piper?"
