I Introduce The Selfish Machine

Thirty Four

Wedding Dress, check.
Tony's tux, check.
Bridesmaids dresses, check.
Now came down to little details.
Flowers, purple tulips, because, what other flowers would we have?
Band or DJ, DJ. Duh.
Open bar or closed bar, is that even a question?
I sat in front of my computer, my eyes burning from being up all night. We have so long until the wedding, but I just don't want to mess anything up. I've been awake since 4, and it's now 8:30. Tony was awake, I heard him moving around in the back, but I was too focused on planning to go back there. My bun flopped to the side of my head, knocking the end of my glasses. I took them off and rubbed my tired eyes. Just a little bit more and I can curl up in bed again.
Tony walked into the living room, fully dressed and ready to go. He had his guitar on his back, ready for another day of finishing up their new CD in San Diego. They did most of it in New York, but the ending stuff required them to work in San Diego. They only have one more week, and then they can release the release date to the public. I've heard bits and pieces of Collide With The Sky, and it sounds awesome. I'm so proud of my fiance.
He reached for the bowl of fruit, which sat right in front of my laptop in the middle of the table. He grabbed an apple, then bent down to look at the screen.
"How long have you been working?" He asked, taking a bite of the apple.
"Since about 4 this morning." I replied.
"Piper, we still have like 6 months until the wedding."
I smiled softly at him. "I know, I just don't want to mess anything up."
He rolled his eyes with a smile. "You won't ruin anything. I believe in you." He said, then glanced at the time. "Well, I have to get going. I'll call you around lunch, okay?" He asked.
"Okay." I said, then turned my head to look at him. I put my left hand on his face and pulled him down a little bit more for a kiss. Just as he turned to walk away, I remembered something. "Hey, on Wednesday, we need to go pick out our like, official wedding rings."
He smiled. "I'll see when is the earliest I can come home, okay? I love you, my queen." he said.
"I love you, my king." I said, and then he left.
I focused my attention back on the screen, but it wasn't long until I was staring at my engagement ring. My body is weird; I have curves, but I don't have a tummy. I had median size thighs, but a small thigh gap. My fingers short, but skinny. The ring wasn't too big or too small, nor did it fit just right either. The thin band, the big diamond in the center and the two smaller diamonds on the side. After months of being engaged, I was still in love with my ring. It was a symbol of everlasting love, not love that'll end. Finally, things in my life were starting to calm down and go the right way. It was like I was living a fairytale, but better. In the bad, there's always good.

My eyes fluttered open when I heard my phone vibrating on the other side of the table. I sat up quickly, squinting to find my phone. I must have passed out by accident. I shook my head and picked up the phone. My eyes were so blurry, I couldn't see the numbers calling me so I answered anyway.
"Yeah." I said with a yawn.
"Is this Piper, Piper Lynn?" A deep voice asked.
"The one and only, who is this?"
There was a chuckle, a chuckle I recognized. I patted the table down until I found my glasses. I placed them on my face and looked at the number, but I still didn't know who it was. It was a DC number though, which is strange because I know nobody in Washington DC. "It's me, Piper. Your father."
