This Summer

Memories

Tori came back downstairs and walked over to the living room where she saw everyone lost in their phones. She stepped over Mike’s extended legs and sat on the opposite side of the sofa. Jaime looked up from his phone and looked at her from where he sat besides her, on the single sofa.

“Were you able to find your room?”

“Uh- yeah.” She said quickly as she spotted Vic coming down the stairs and coming over to sit with them. He sat on the arm rest on the couch and the two looked away from each other. Tony hung up his phone and walked over to the living room, sitting on the couch right next to Tori.

“That was Anthony, said he’s getting here tomorrow.”

“Alright! Didn’t think he was going to make it after all.” Jaime said with a bit of excitement.

“Anthony?” Tori asked the group confused.

“My cousin from my dad’s side.” Tony told her. She gave him a nod in return as she took the information in.

“So Tori-“Mike started to say to get her attention. “What’s new with you? Are you seeing anyone?” He asked as he looked straight at Tony. They both squinted their eyes at him, not knowing they were doing it at the same time.

She shrugged her shoulders as her answer to him and turned the question around to him. “Eh. Are you seeing anyone?”

“Uh-“ He looked down at his phone in his lap as he hesitated.

“Are you kidding? It’s Mike you’re talking about, he doesn’t do relationships.” Tony said, interrupting him.

“Ye-yeah. What Tony said." Mike said quickly before bringing back the question to take the focus off of him. “No but seriously, Tori.”

Tori noticed Vic looking at her from where he sat besides Mike, waiting for her response as well.

“No Mike, I’m not seeing anyone.” Vic was satisfied with her answer but deep down felt a bit of remorse as he wondered of the possibility that if whatever happened between them last time they saw each other had to do with the fact that she was single. Did he hurt her that bad that she couldn't even look at him?

”Do I look good?” Victoria asked Vic as she stepped away from the bathroom mirror attached to Vic’s room and looked at him. She had a bit of makeup on that made her eyes standout and her eyelashes look longer then they already did.

“Are you wearing makeup?” He asked since he’s never seen her with any before.

“A little, does it look bad? I feel like a clown.”

“No, no you look great.” She smiled at him before she fixed the straps to her top. “Trying to impress Tony today?”

“No.” Vic looked at her knowing well she was lying. “Ok, maybe.”

“You don’t have to worry Tori, you look beautiful just as always and if Tony doesn’t see that tonight then he’s clearly blind.” She walked out of her bathroom and walked up to him.

“Thank you Vic.” He gave her a quick hug, taking in her perfume for the first time.

“We should head out now; I think people are here now.”

“I can’t believe you guys actually did this.” She told him as they walked out of his room and made their way down the stairs.

"It's our last weekend together before you leave to go to New York, of course we had to throw you this party."

"You know I could have accepted a simple hangout too, I'm not that special."

"Are you kidding Tori? You're our best friend, you know you're special to all of us big time."

"And you sure your parents are ok with this?"

"Yeah, they love you!- and they aren't going to be home this weekend."

"Vic! You told me someone was going to be here, that's the only reason my parents let me stay the night."

"It's fine, we have it under control and besides it's not like you haven't spent the night here before."

"Yeah with your parents home."

"It will be fine." He repeated as they reached the last step. "Come on." He grabbed her hand and led her out to the back porch where the party was starting. They slipped through the sliding door and walked through the crowd of people until they found Mike and Jaime standing by some coolers. Mike handed them both a red cup and Tori took it knowing she wasn't going to drink what was inside it.

"Are you going to do it tonight?" Mike asked her after awhile of talking.

"Do what exactly?"

"You know tell Tony how you feel." She bit her bottom lip as she stared over to where Jaime and Tony stood a couple people away from them.

"Um I don't know Mike."
"Come on Tori! This is your last chance to finally do something."
"But what difference will it make if I tell him? I'm leaving, it's not like anything can happen between us."
"Just do it, you never know what can come from it. What if he feels the same way and you don't even know it."
"I doubt that."
"You never know."
"Maybe later."
"Okay, just try and do it before the night ends." He said before he had to leave to attend to other things.

Towards the rest of the night she couldn't get Mike's words out of her mind. She gripped onto her cup as she tried to get the courage to go up to Tony but each time her nerves would get the best of her. Jaime left Tony's side and as she watched him start to text on his phone she started to encourage herself to finally go up to him. She took a quick sip of the substance in her cup and immediately regretted it when she felt the burn pass down her throat. She saw him turn around and start to walk towards the side of the house and quickly tried to catch up to him before she can chicken out. She walked away from the music and walked through the dark where she barley heard his voice. Tori felt her nerves start to bubble up inside her stomach as she knew she was getting closer to wherever he was. She let out a deep breath and turned the corner. Her mouth parted and the cup dropped from her hands as she stared at Tony a couple feet away making out with a girl she didn't recognize. She covered her mouth and quickly went back towards the party. She walked through the crowd to get to where she stood moments ago and stopped almost running into Mike. She gave him a quick look before taking the red cup he held in his hands and drinking whatever was left in it.
"Whoa are you ok?" She shook her head and swallowed down the alcohol.
"Never been better."
Vic came over to them and she did the same, taking his cup and drinking what he was having.
The brothers exchanged confused glances before looking back at her.
"Can you watch her?" Mike asked Vic low enough for only him to hear.
"I got it."
Vic put his arm around Tori's shoulders and started leading her out of the crowd but she was quick enough to grab one of the bottles of whiskey before they left. They walked inside the house and went upstairs to the den. Once they reached the top Tori walked away from Vic's arms and went to sit on the sofa. She opened the bottle in her hands and brought it up to her lips to take a quick swig. Vic rushed up to her and moved the bottle away.
"Easy! It's your first time drinking and this will not lead to a nice morning." He took the bottle from her and sat besides her. "What's wrong Tori?"
"Nothing I'm fine."
"Tori, I know you. This isn't like you."she let out a sigh and sunk deeper into the sofa cushion.
"I just feel stupid."
"Why?"
"Because it's pretty pathetic how much time I've spent liking Tony when I know it was just a waste of time."
"Why do you say that?" He asked before taking a drink of the bottle in his hands.
"He will never be remotely interested in someone like him. Especially since I'm so young."
"You're 16."
"I just turned 16 Vic, not so long ago and he's going on 18. Why would he be interested in someone like me when he can have someone his own age." She took the bottle from his hands and this time took a smaller sip then before. "I give up on guys."
"Hey we aren't all that bad you know."
"I know I just- I don't know anymore."she said as she looked down to the ground, shaking her head. Vic saw her wipe away at a tear that was streaming down her cheek as she tried to hide it from him. He didn't like that she was feeling this way because of Tony. It upset him that he couldn't see what he was missing right in front of him, the girl that was always there for him, for all of them. The coolest and one of the prettiest girls he's ever seen. As he started to think about it more he noticed his mind start to view Tori on a different perspective and he couldn't help it. Vic moved her hair back and she turned to face him. He looked deep into her bright green eyes and saw himself leaning close to her for a kiss before feeling her lips on his. Tori was confused by his actions but felt the alcohol kicking in as she started to kiss him back. He leaned in closer as the kiss started to get more intense, making her rest her back on the couch. His hand rested on her hip as she buried one of her hands in his hair. She felt his hand slowly slide up but didn't stop him as she was lost in their kiss. He slowly raised her shirt and broke away from the kiss as he stared at her intently before she let him take it off completely. He tossed is aside and went back to kissing her. He felt her hands at the bottom of his back as she started to peel his shirt off his body.
"Tori are-" he started to ask but before he could finish she smacked her lips on his again. This was really going to happen.

Vic looked away from Tori as the memory crossed his mind. He remembered waking up the day after they had slept together and not knowing what to say to her. He didn't regret what he did but he felt like he did wrong because he knew she was a virgin before that and knew how she felt about Tony. He was so full of guilt that he couldn't talk to her even when it came to the day she was leaving California and he knew that was his mistake because ever since that night he couldn't stop thinking about her as the feelings he never knew he had for her started to surface.
