This Summer

She's Back

“So what do you think about running into Victoria again after all these years?” Mike asked as he leaned on the patio fencing then looked at Tony as he waited for his answer. Tony stared straight ahead where he saw her walk away to and shrugged his shoulders.
“I’m glad we ran into her.”
Glad, that’s it?” Mike nearly shouted as he waited for more from him.
“I don’t know, what else do you want me to say?” He rubbed the back of his neck before he continued, knowing what he was waiting for. “Well she’s uh-“
Hot.” Vic finished off for him. Tony turned around to face him then nodded before turning back to Mike.
“Ye-yeah what Vic said.”
“There you go!” Mike said clapping his hands before he came over and put his arm around Tony. “You know what I think, and I’m sure the guys would agree with this. You and Tori-“
“No, no, no.” Tony quickly said, backing away from Mike.
“You don’t even know what I was going to say.”
“You want me to go out with her-“
“Yeah, what’s so wrong about that?”
“I- I don’t know Mike, I just broke up with Liz after dating for three years. She screwed me over remember.”
“Tone I’m not saying to jump on it now, but I think you should really consider it. You two were literally attached the hip growing up! Who knows you better then Tori?” Tony staid quiet as he stared at the floor and started to contemplate what Mike just said. He was right, growing up they were both fairly close even though she was two years younger then him. As a kid he never expected to be hanging out with a girl as much as he did, since he was always shy, but since they were neighbors and their parents were both considered family friends it just sort of happened.
Vic tapped his foot on the ground and slapped his phone against his palm repetitively as he grew frustrated with the conversation his brother was having with Tony. He didn’t understand why he was throwing Tony at Tori, they had barley seen her after all these years and this is the first thing they do. It always has to be Tony doesn’t it? Vic shook his head as the guys continued to talk and stormed out of the patio. The guys noticed his departure and looked at where he once stood in confusion. Vic quickly went inside the house and went straight to his room, minutes before Tori reached the patio with her luggage in hand.
“You’re staying?!” Tony asks with excitement as soon as he sees her.
“Sure am.” She said smiling at him as they all went up to her and helped her with her bags.
“I thought you were only here for the weekend.”
“I was.”
“How come you have so many bags then?” Jaime asked as they made their way inside.
“I was in the process of moving back to San Diego. We sort of just stopped here for a little break.”
“It’s about time that you come back!” Mike said bringing the bag in his hand to the floor.
“Yeah New York wasn’t really for me. I’ve always been a California girl.”
“And it’s where you belong. “ Mike confirmed, earning nods from both Jaime and Tony.
“Want us to show you to your room?”
“No it’s fine; just tell me where to go.”
“Up the stairs and the room on the left at the end of the hall should be empty.”
“Thanks Jaime. I think I’m going to go leave these bags up there and get settled then.” She told them as she wrapped her hand around the straps to her bag.
“You sure you don’t need any help?” Tony asked her as she made her way to the stairs.
“No I’m good, thank you though.”
“Ok well if you need anything, we will be down here.” Victoria smiled at him before grabbing her bags and started to go upstairs. Once she got to the top she put her bags to the side and walked to the hallway to find her room. She passed through the other rooms and saw the guy’s bags on top of the beds before finally stopping at the room Jaime told her about. She turned the handle on the closed door and slowly opened it as she stepped inside.
Vic turned to face the door when he heard it open and sat up when he saw Tori coming through it. When she noticed him at the other side of the bed she stopped in her tracks.
“S-sorry I didn’t know this room was taken.” She said softly before turning on her heels and opening the door to step back out.
“Tori wait!” He yelled before she was back at the hallway. He noticed her hesitate before slowly turning around to finally face him. He got up from the bed and made his way to her. Tori took a step back as he stopped a few feet away from her.
“Yes?” She pinned her hair behind her ear nervously as she looked at him.
“How have you been?”
“I’ve been good.” She pressed her lips down to a straight line as she saw him staring at her.
“I-I missed you, I haven’t seen you since-“
“I need to go unpack.” She said interrupting him, knowing where he was headed and turned back to face the door.
“Tori will you please talk to me?” He pleaded as he grabbed her arm. She fidgeted with his touch and he slowly pulled his hand away as she turned her head to the side, still not fully facing him.
“There is nothing to say.”
“Why are you mad at me?” At the sound of his words Tori fully turned around and stared at him in frustration.
“I’m not mad at you Vic.”
“Ok then wh-“
“-I’m hurt.” He stood there dumbfounded as the words felt like a ton of bricks hitting him. He never realized that his actions could have made her feel this way. “The guys don’t know about that night do they?” Vic shook his head slowly as he stared down at his hands in defeat. “Okay.” She gave him his back once more and stepped out of the room, leaving him there staring at the ground. He lifted his head and stared at the door where she just stepped out of before punching the wall besides him in anger.
“Why did I have to be so stupid?”
