The Last Of Us
Day One; Pt. 1
It was hot, the kind of hot where you were so uncomfortable you couldn't even sleep, and a once freezing cold pool felt like soup. As my friend and I stood in it I could feel my skin begin to just melt away. We had been standing in line for only about an hour and it felt like a year or two now. Today was the day we had both been waiting for, Warped 2011.
"Dear god I can't take this anymore." My friend Kat moaned, putting her forehead on my shoulder.
I shrugged her away instantly feeling her sweat meet mine.
"Hey, you decided to come with you didn't have to how do you expect to survive the rest of the day if you can't even survive the line?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow.
Her eyebrows furrowed with frustration and with her whole body urged me that the line was finally moving. I stuck my tongue out and playfully flicked her off before following the hundreds of other sweat struck people into the venue. I handed the ticket scanner my ticket, but as I looked at him a shot of disgust flew down my spine. Black circles ran bold and deep below his eyes and were traced with blue veins. His hair was graying at the tips, his hands freezing cold when it bumped mine.
"Enjoy the show." He grunted in a harsh tone followed by a slight cough.
My nose scrunched up...ew...lay off the coke man.
"Whats with that face?" Kat asked once she got through bag check.
I slowly erased the grimace from my mug and shrugged.
"The guy who scanned my ticket...he looked...terrible...almost scary."
Kat chuckled and wrapped her arm around my shoulders, leading us towards the list of show times.
"You and your scary movie fetish, it's really gone to your head Lee."
I rolled my eyes and glanced over my shoulder to get one final look at the strange guy, but he was gone, rushing quickly towards the bathroom. Another chill rushed over me as I turned away; weird. After walking up the huge hill of grass we had reached our destination.
"Hmmm..." Kat hummed staring at the schedule. "OK so ADTR at 145, TAS at 1205, AA 705, and PTV at 845."
My heart stopped when she mentioned PTV. I saw them back in 05" and had fallen in love with everything about them. Like everyone seemed to say about a band, they helped me through a tough time and inspired me to uh...better myself.
"We can't miss PTV." I whined, pushing hair from my sticky face. "Other then that, I dont care what we do."
Kat smiled and shook her head.
"Oh glorious Warped Tour fulfilling wet dreams year round."
I let out an exasperated "ha" and crossed my arms.
"OK miss I've been crowned "Band Whore" on Isanyoneup.com over 3 times." I fired with a smirk.
Kat faked a shocked expression putting her hand over her mouth. To most normal people being called a band whore wouldn't be prized but...Kat was proud of it so we joked around about it now.
"Fuck you.." She joked, "Lets go."
I grinned widely, trying to forget what happened earlier.

As the day continued along with the heat, sweat, pits, and sets....everything seemed fine. The sun began to set as did the fatigue.
"I don't think I'm gonna make it for PTV." Kat groaned as we laid out in the grass.
I sat up quickly and pouted.
"You're shitting me right?!"
She opened her eyes and frowned.
"I'm exhausted Lila, aren't you?" She asked.
"Yeah, but I don't care, I need to see them."
Kat sighed and lit up her phone.
"Well its 815 now..." she paused, "I guess I'll stay but if I die from exhaustion I'm gonna be the reason you can't sleep at night."
My pout expanded into a huge smile and I instantly flew up from the ground.
"Come on!" I yelped reaching out my hand. "I want a good view"
She reluctantly took my hand and followed as I dragged her to the pavilion. Just like it did every other time I waited to see a band I loved, my heart began to flutter causing my whole body to rattle.
