A Friday Night Like This

Hold My Heart It's Beating For You Anyway

I looked up and over at the bath. Everything was clean. Vic still wasn't anywhere to be found. I blinked. The bathroom had been coated in blood! I had seen it with my own eyes. I took a deep breath. Only the faint smell of antiseptic remained. I walked into my bedroom and looked around. Everything that belonged to Vic was gone. His clothes, styling products, even his alarm clock which he never used. What was this? I walked back out to the kitchen, shuffling through Vic's novel. I grab a can of Coke from the fridge and sit down, reading the rest of the letter. I reach the middle, and see a familiar bold heading staring back at me.

Divorce Agreement

Maybe it wasn't such a big novel after all... I flick through the legal documents, my heart dropping with each word I read. I drop the sheets and open up the cabinet beside the sink. We keep all sorts of odds and ends in there. I finally find what I'm looking for - the phone book. It shows phone numbers and names from California, Nevada and Arizona. I look up "F" and start skimming near the back of the section. I find what I'm looking for - V. and V. Fuentes. Victor and Vivian - Vic's parents. I dial their number, and Mike picks up.

'Fuentes household.' He says, oddly formal.

'Mike?' I ask. I'm not entirely sure.

'Ah, yes. Who's this?' He says.

'It's Kellin... Is Vic there?' I can almost see how shocked he is.

'Ah... No, sorry. How have you been, Kellin? I've heard about the whole divorce.' He said, sympathetic.

'What do you mean? I'm married.' I say, laughing.

'So you were cheating on Vic?'

'What?'

'Last time I spoke to him - which was about an hour ago - he said that he was single.' I hastily pick up the papers and shuffle through. Vic's signature is there, with a sticky note attached to it.

"I'm gone. Just sign the sheet. You'll feel better afterwards."

'I... I need to sign the papers...' I say. 'Uh, bye Mike.' I hang up and look for the next person who Vic may have gone too. I flip to "Pr" and start searching. There's only one of them in San Diego. [A/N If you have not guessed who it is, you are stupid. Nothing personal.] I ring J. Preciado, and they pick up on the first ring.

'Hello?' A voice sobs down the line. It isn't Jaime's deep tone. It's a very familiar one.

'Vic? You're alive!' I hang up and jot down the address. I run to my car, grabbing the hated piece of paper and a pen. I speed to Jaime's house, some of the route being taken from memory.

I leaped out of the car and raced up the path. I knocked on the door and heard shouting.

'No! Don't! Jaime!' Vic yelled. There was silence and the door opened a few moments later.

I looked up into the tall Mexican's dark chocolate eyes. He had gotten another sleeve over the years. His hair had deflated slightly, but still in a clearly recognizable Albert Einstein inspired look. I knew instantly why Vic cheats on me with him. He's gorgeous. Nicely muscled, with an aura of confidence and protectiveness. But you had to know him to see the real Jaime. The funny, sweet guy who would never hurt a fly. Except for the occasional tackle in soccer. But seriously - it's soccer. No one can be blamed of something that happens in a life-or-death game of such a sport.

'Kellin.' He says. He leads me into his house. He seems on edge, like I'm about to attack him.

'Vic,' I say, relief filling my chest. He's sitting on the couch.

Vic

I tried telling Jaime not to let him in. As soon as I had answered the phone, I knew that he would come over. Jaime was adamant that we talk it out though.

I look at my hopefully ex-husband through my tear stained eyes.

'I'm sorry, Kellin. I know it wasn't fair of me-'

'Don't explain,' Kellin cuts me off. 'I understand.' He shows me a piece of paper. 'I'll sign it. Just to give you some piece of mind.' He takes out a pen and clicks it, the ballpoint appearing. He signs his name.

'There,' he offers me the piece of paper. 'It's done. Enjoy the rest of your life, Vic. I love you.' He then turns and walks out of the house.

Short, I know. What do you think of this? And thanks to Hyper Little Pixie for being my first comment! :D

Thanks. I won't upload it right now because I've been writing the second chapter for about a week now and it's nowhere near finished!

Haha, just kill all the characters! If you want to read a story in which some characters may die, may I suggest my other story, Kiss Me Through the Window and it's sequel The Taste Of Touching Glass? *shameless advertising*
That is so adorable! I love it! This story was great and I loved the plot progression, like it didn't move to fast or slow. I'm excited for the sequel <3
