I Put Your Body to the Test With Mine
It's not that easy but it's half of the fun to see you throw the first punch.
I waited for hours without anything to drink, eat or to do and the worst part was that I really had to pee but couldn't leave the room before Tony let me know that Kelsey had left... But what if she never left? What if she was there to stay? I couldn't exactly climb out of the window because it didn't open that much so the only way out was through the door. And I could only leave the room if Kelsey didn't see me leave. And that was only possible if somebody let me know that she wasn't there to see me.
All of a sudden the door opened. My head shot up and I saw Tony standing in the doorway, looking at me laying over the bed in nothing but his shirt.
”Come on. You have to leave,” he said.
The tone of his voice was colder than before and I furrowed my eyebrows. Had something happened? Something between Kelsey and him?
”Is everything alright? Where is she?” I asked quietly as I got up from the bed.
”She went to get some food for us. I told her I was too hungover to drive,” he explained. I grabbed my clothes from the floor and started walking to him.
”Is she here to stay? What did you two talk about?” I asked him.
”She's... She's going to be here for a while, don't worry about it,” he mumbled.
”What's that supposed to mean?” I asked and cocked an eyebrow. He sighed.
”We're going to talk tonight. I'll call you tomorrow or something. Okay?”
”Okay but... Are you going to be alright? I don't want to hear any shouting or anything...” I mumbled. He faked a quick smile and nodded before patting my back like an old friend.
”Well... Thanks for last night. I had fun,” I said quickly.
He nodded and I made my way out of the room. I saw Vic sitting on a couch in the living room as I was making my way to the front door. I quickly tried to cover my bare ass with the clothes that were on my hands. I opened the front door and turned to look at Tony one last time before leaving.
”Can I get a kiss?” I whispered.
He bit his lip but leaned closer anyway and pressed his lips against my mouth. He pulled away really quickly so it was barely even a kiss. I said my goodbyes and made my way to my place.
That night, as I was about to go to sleep, my doorbell rang. Thinking it was Tony, I pretty much ran to the front door and opened it. Much to my surprise I came face to face with Vic.
”Oh, hey,” I said and tried to catch my breath, ”What's up?”
”Can I come in?” he asked.
I nodded and let him in. He found his way into the living room and sat down on the couch. I sat down on the other couch and looked at him.
”I can't take this anymore. I'm sick and tired of listening to their arguing and shouting. Tony and Kelsey drive me crazy,” he said and sighed deeply.
”Oh... Is it bad? Like, really bad?” I asked and grimaced slightly. He nodded.
”It's the worst I've ever heard. I kind of hope that they don't end up together after this,” Vic told me, ”Don't get me wrong, I do like Kelsey and everything but fuck... Those two don't belong together, I'm absolutely sure about that.”
”I don't like Kelsey. She brings out the worst in Tony,” I said, ”He completely changes around her and I hate that.”
”You've got a point,” he agreed, ”It's like... I don't know. Apparently she came back because she wants to fix their relationship. I don't understand the point in that, there is no way to fix that.”
”Do you really think so?”
”Well, yeah. As long as you're around Tony, he's not going to be able to stay faithful,” Vic said and grinned a little.
”We're just friends. With benefits...”
”Yeah right. You act like a couple already,” he said.
”Do we? Honestly?” I asked.
”Yes.”
”Oh my god... I had no idea,” I said and sighed, ”That's too bad, though. He would never get in a relationship with me.”
”How do you know that?”
”Because I'm too young for him. He's, what, six years older than me and he never lets me forget that,” I said, getting slightly frustrated when I really understood the situation and had finally said it out loud. Tony would never want me as his girlfriend and there was really nothing worse than that because I wanted him to be my boyfriend.
”But he really likes you, though,” Vic told me.
”Yeah but what's the point if that's all I'll ever get? He can like me as much as he likes to but if it's not going to lead to anything then he might as well hate me as far as I'm concerned,” I mumbled.
”So, what, are you just going to give up?” he asked and I really had to stop to think about it.
Was I just going to give up? No... Of course I wasn't going to just give up. I knew what I had to do – I had to fight for Tony, even if meant getting in trouble with Kelsey.
”You know what, you're absolutely right. I shouldn't give up just like that,” I said suddenly, ”In fact, I'm going to go there right now and – ”
”Now, wait a minute, Abby,” Vic said and laughed, ”You can't go there now, okay? Let them talk things straight before you stick your nose into that house.”
”Yeah but what if they actually do fix their relationship and start being happy together?” I asked.
”They won't,” Vic assured, ”Tony likes you. I'm sure he won't just forget that.”
”Yeah but...”
”You know what, why don't you take it easy and go to sleep and I'll text you when the coast is clear. Okay?”
”Fine. But you can't go in there now, can you? Do you want to stay the night here if you don't want to listen to their shouting?” I asked him.
He nodded and I showed him one of the empty bedrooms and said goodnight before making my way into my bedroom. But as I laid down on the bed, I couldn't sleep. My mind was full of all sorts of thoughts and I could barely sleep that night.
In the morning, when I woke up, Vic had already left. I went to make myself breakfast but as I was making coffee, I remembered what we had talked about the previous night. Vic had promised to text me when it would be okay for me to go over. I forgot all about the coffee as I ran all the way up the stairs into my bedroom and grabbed my phone. And, in fact, I had received a text message from Vic, telling me that the coast, indeed, was clear. I pretty much ran all the way to Tony's front door and rang the doorbell a thousand times before Tony came to open the door.
”Good morning,” I said and flashed a bright smile, ”Is Kelsey still here?”
”She went down to the beach,” he said, ”What do you want?”
”You don't have to be so rude. Can I come in?”
”Sure...” I walked past him into the house and found my way into the living room.
”I don't think you should be here,” Tony said, ”Kelsey could walk in any second.”
”I don't care about her,” I told him, ”I just want to know what's going on between the two of you. Is everything alright?”
”Yeah... I think that, uh, she's flying home later today. She wanted to see Miami Beach and stuff before she leaves,” he explained. I couldn't help but smile a little.
”Did you two break up?” I asked.
”No...”
”What? Why not?”
”I don't know. She's so good at tricking me into thinking that I cannot do without her,” he muttered,
”And I think she's right. Maybe I do need her. Maybe we're meant to be or some shit.”
”Tony... Do you love her? Do you want to be with her? Don't let her decide what you want,” I said quietly and touched his arm. He rubbed his face and sighed.
”She just... She has this unbelievable power over me. I just don't know what I want and I definitely don't want to make any stupid decisions without really thinking about things well,” he explained.
”Fine. But I hate seeing you like this. I hate it when you have too much on your mind. You'd be better off without her. I'm just saying... And I'm not the only one that thinks so...”
”What? Who else? Vic? Has he said something?” Tony asked and furrowed his eyebrows.
”Ask him if you want to know.”
”Abby, come on, tell me. What did he say?” he asked quietly, placing his hands on my shoulders and rubbing them gently.
”He doesn't think you and Kelsey belong together,” I whispered. I watched as he started biting his lip and pulled his hands away from me.
”I don't know, Abby, I'm just really confused right now... And it doesn't help that one of my best friends thinks that I shouldn't be with my girlfriend,” Tony mumbled and sighed.
”Well... What do you want me to do? Do you want me to stay away?” I whispered and stepped closer to him, touching his cheek with my fingers. He looked down at me and started shaking his head.
”No. I... I do want to be with you. I just... I need to figure out what to do with Kelsey,” he muttered quietly.
”I hate what she does to you. I hate the person you become when she's around. I really do hope that you understand what's best for you,” I said quietly.
”Abby...”
”I'm serious. Like, when you opened the door for me just now, you were rude and that's all because of her. You're never rude to anyone. And you're... You're not happy at all with her and I hate that,” I explained.
”I don't know what to do...”
”Leave her. Tell her that you don't want to be with her anymore. Just, do something, anything, okay?”
”You know it doesn't work like that. It's not that simple.”
”What's so hard about it?”
”I... I have feelings for her,” he mumbled quietly.
”But she's not good for you!”
”Who's not good for Tony?” The sound of Kelsey's voice made my heart skip a beat. Oh my god. I turned around and saw her standing in the doorway, glaring at me. I quickly stepped away from Tony and looked away. Holy shit, what was I going to do?
