Stolen Moments
Give Me Jealousy
Tony watched the outside door for Mike, a bottlerocket aimed in one hand, a lighter ready to start a fight in the other. He lit the short fuse just as he heard a commotion coming from the corrodore, grinning to himself. It flew from his grasp, aimed right at Mike’s chest. He almost didn’t notice it, but moved out of the way just in time for it to hit the ground and go off at Vic’s feet, causing the older boy to jump.
“Oh, it’s on, Turtle!” Vic yelled with a laugh, “Mike, get me some fucking rockets!” he yelled at his brother, dodging away from three more of the small explosives that Tony aimed his way.
“Come get them yourself, dude!” Mike said, grabbing his older brothers arm and running with him to the large stash of fireworks. “Let’s make him pay,” Mike whispered in Vic’s ear as he shoved a large hand full of sticks at him.
“Gladly,” was the only reply he received before Vic spun away, aiming his first rocket at Tony. The brothers ganged up on the younger man, shooting off rocket after rocket at him until one of Vic’s went astray and almost hit Mike in the arm. He screamed and jumped away, sending out a cuss at his brother.
“Oh, no, now it’s on!” slipped from Tony’s mouth before he could stop it, and his hand slapped over his grin to suppress a laugh.
“You’re right it’s on!” came Mike’s reply as he wound four of the small rockets together. Vic started to back away towards Tony as he saw what his brother was doing, fumbling to tie together his own lot of fireworks.
“Oh, no. Not my way, you don’t! Not with that coming at you!” Tony yelled as Mike lit the fuse on his newly beefed up rocket, retreating away from Vic and the oncoming trouble as fast as his legs would let him.
“Shit!” slipped from Vic’s mouth as he dropped his hand full of rockets and jumped away from the bundle, which ended up exploding against the wall. The three friends stared at the scortch marks on the metal siding, silence falling over them. After a few minutes, it was Vic, the closest to the incident, who broke the tension.
“I think you busted it, Mikey,” he mumbled, barely loud enough to be heard by the other two. Bemused, Tony and Mike began to make their way over to investigate as well. The thought that they could have just harmed part of the building had them distracted as Jaime finally emerged from inside. His arms were crossed over his chest as he watched the trio inspect their accidental handiwork. He walked over to their tour bus and leaned against the side, watching as Vic tried to touch the hot metal. Jaime smiled to himself, figuring that he had done it to see if their was, in fact, a hole.
He watched as Vic jerked his hand back, pressing his burnt finger to his lips to cool it. Oh, how Jaime wished that he could be theone doing that for Vic; kissing his wounds, taking the sting from his burns. He knows that he’ll get the chance to at some point during the night, but not now, not when it’s fresh. He sighed and shook his head as Mike and Tony leaned as close as they could without butting heads in order to get a closer look at the damage. He knew that they probably hadn’t actually done more than scorch the paint, but they didn’t know that. He wasn’t going to tell them, either, because he kind of enjoyed the view he got each time Vic would lean or crouch down to look at the wall.
He watched as something caught first Mike’s, then Tony’s, and, finally, Vic’s attention on the other side of the park. He didn’t have to turn his head to know that someone was making cat calls towards them, but he did anyway. What he saw always made him laugh, he would never get used to the sight. A few yards away from them, across the street, stood a couple of fans in Pierce The Veil shirts. He and Tony used to make up stories for these wanderers, try and make up how they ended up standing in front of the tour bus. When Tony looked away from the girls to catch Jaime’s eye, he knew that Tony remembered those days as well. Tony grinned, and Jaime couldn’t help but return the smile as he kicked off the bus and made his way over.
Jaime swung his arm around Tony’s shoulder, watching from the corner of his eye to see if Vic would react. Vic pretended like he didn’t see, but he did, and he was jealous. He had gotten used to seeing the way Jaime acted towards other people, but it would never stop making him wish that Jaime’s arm was around his shoulders and not someone elses.
“Their friends told them the bus was back here,” Jaime said softly to Tony, waving at the girls who seemed to be debating making the trip over to the boys.
“They didn’t believe them, so…” Tony added in, smiling his brightest at the four girls.
“They had to see for themselves, of course,” Mike concluded, bumping his arm into Jaime’s. “Watch this…” he threw over his shoulder, too quietly for the ladies to hear, as he started to walk slowly over to them.
“And, to top it off, they had no idea what awaited them,” Vic finished the story, as always. It was always the same whenever Vic ended it. Mike always walked over, the fans were always shy, and then the conversation would die and Mike would send the fans on their way with news to share with everyone. Tonight, though, tonight was different. Tonight, something new happened.
