*Vic’s POV*
‘Mom?’ Thalia murmured as she scrambled to her feet. I swiftly pulled my t-shirt back on and returned my attention to the woman at the door, not letting go of Thalia.
‘Of course it’s me, can’t you see? Have you not only become a slut, but also blind?!’ Thalia’s so-called-mother raised her voice with every word she spoke, ending up full-on shouting. The girl standing in my arms cowered away from the fear worthy woman, and I tightened my grip around her, feeling rage start creeping its way up my feet and hatred towards my, I suppose, mother-in-law settle in my heart.
‘Do you think that’s how you should talk to your daughter? Or to anyone, for what matters? For God’s sake, you should be ashamed of yourself, ma’am.’ I spat without thinking.
The woman started pacing slowly towards us with a cruel grin on her face; I stood between Thalia and her trying to protect the girl even though I knew it was pointless. ‘And who may you, in this Godforsaken world, be?’
‘I...-‘
‘Oh, there’s no need, kid.’ The woman cut me off, getting nearer every time. ‘I bet you helped this little shit here when she ran away, didn’t you? Why, I can’t know. Maybe she’s a good fuck to you, I don’t know, I never saw any good use or future for her.’ She accused, waving her hand as she turned and continued pacing. ‘She’s good for nothing, you better run away while you can...-‘
‘Shut it! Right now, just shut it!’ I raised my voice, aiming it directly at the monster walking around in front of us. ‘How dare you? You are the one that were awful enough to your own daughter to the point that she had to run away from you to try and put her life back on track!” My voice dripped poison at that point; Thalia was hugging my waist tightly, silently pleading for me not to make it worse. As for her mother, she was looking at me with an astonished look on her face that turned to one of anger and switched back swiftly to a smug one.
‘You’re one brave scumbag, I must give you that. But, you know what? Thalia is underage and, until she’s eighteen, she’s under my custody. And neither you nor anyone else will avoid me from making your life a living hell.’ And with that, she snatched Thalia’s arm and yanked her from my side. ‘You know, Thal, it’s going to be nice having you back in Ireland. No one at school really missed you and I knew you’d ran away so I didn’t alert the police, but, I looked for you because screaming insults at the air isn’t half as fun as it is screaming them at you.’ Thalia trembled slightly but kept a straight face and looked at her mother dead in the eye with a daring, piercing glare.
‘I don’t care what you do to me.’ She started. Her mother was shocked to hear her talk, and even I was after all the threats. ‘And I don’t care because know I know what real happiness is, what it feels like. And every time you shout at me, or tell me I’m a worthless piece of dirt, I’ll remember that I was happy once, away from you, and that one day, I will again.’ Thalia shut her mouth after her reckless words; I felt tears pricking the corners of my eyes. Just as I was about to pull Thalia back, her mother struck her right across the face with her right hand, making a loud slapping noise. The poor girl let out a barely concealed squeal and clutched her reddening cheek. As I was about to approach her, she looked at me with eyes on the verge of tears as she slowly shook her head, then looked at her feet before turning around and facing the door.
‘Nice meeting you, boy. Thanks for taking care of this but now, it is all mine.” Thalia’s mum pronounced and, then, they were gone.
Oh, this isn’t fucking finished. Like hell it isn’t.
*Thalia’s POV*
I walked with my head hung low as my mother stomped proud beside me with head high in the air. It was still a shock seeing her here again. It felt like another nightmare of mine in which she appeared suddenly and took me away. Only this time, it was true...
‘Don’t be like that, sweets. You’ll be home soon, with momma. Everything back to how it should be.’ My mother’s – if she could still be considered that- words rolled off her tongue with enough fake sweetness to make me want to vomit on her stupid suede boots.
‘Sure mom.’ I murmured the shut my lips tightly enough so they were a mere line on my face.

Soon enough, we’d reached the flat where I’d been happy for – I didn’t even know how much time had passed anymore. The woman beside me pushed me inside, leaving an angry red mark on my upper arm where she’d been holding me by. ’Gather up your shit, we’re leaving in the morning.’ I could practically sense the cruel grin on her face as she sat on the couch, propping her feet on the table, kicking her shoes off and tuning on the TV. ‘Are you deaf?! Go away and get your fucking stuff!’ She shouted. I scrambled to motion, leaving the living room and closing the bedroom door behind me.

As I was folding the little amount of clothes I had, I heard a patter on the window. Just as I turned to look at it, a familiar face appeared outside it, upside down with a mop of straightened brown hair falling on his face.
‘God! Vic! What are you doing there?!’ I whisper-exclaimed as I rushed to open the window and let him in. Once the window was open, Vic struggled inside and landed with a soft thud, but got up and on his feet in a matter of seconds.
‘My, Thal, come here.’ He whispered, opening his arms. With no shadow of hesitation, I fell in them, hugging his waist tightly, relishing in the feeling of his arms hugging me close to his body.
‘I’m scared, Vic. This is so terrifying...’ Not long, and silent tears were streaming down my face; pure bloody panic had taken over. ‘W-What’s going to happen b-back... there?’ I just couldn’t call that place home.
‘You’re not going anywhere, you hear me?’ Vic spoke with a hushed but forceful voice, stepping back to look into my eyes. ‘I’m not letting go of you, okay? Not now. You’re... I mean, I’m selfish and you’re too important and I cherish you too much to let go...’
Still with wet cheeks, but with a swollen heart to add to that, I threw myself at him and kissed him, adding as much of the love I felt as I could to the kiss. He kissed back with a passion that stunned me; it made me all giddy inside and, in a sense, made me feel loved for once that day.
Without notice, I felt something being put in the back pocket of my trousers (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=111819791&.locale=es).
‘Love, I know it’ll be difficult but, if we want to leave, you’ll have to slip these sleeping pills on your mum’s dinner. That way, we’ll be able to leave without her noticing.’ Vic explained in my ear, his voice a subtle whisper.
I nodded slowly and looked up in his deep brown eyes. They showed a gloomy shine that I’d seen before, and that I never wanted to see again.
That was the moment I decided I’d do anything to keep Vic away from all the shit storm that my life was, and to keep both of us happy.
‘I’ll do it. Then what do we do?’ The look he gave me told me. ‘No. No, no, no, we can’t leave. We can’t run away! What about you? What about the guys, the band? Everything you have? Your life’s here, for crying out loud!’ I whispered, nervousy taking over me entirely. Vic caught my hands that were flailing around in an agitated frenzy.
‘Sh, sh, shh, no! Don’t you understand?’ Vic asked lowly. His voice was passionate and his eyes blazed with a coppery fire. I felt overwhelmed and almost scared by how set on this his mind was. ‘Can’t you understand that I can’t let you go back to that hell hole? It’d be wrong in so many levels, it’d break my heart, Thalia, can’t you see?’ His was mind made, and his heart was set on his decision, it was clear as day.
‘I see.’ I mumbled in answer and not a second after, his lips were on mine again, sealing our uncertain future.
‘I’ll be back at nine and we’ll leave.’ I nodded, understandingly. ‘Please, baby, stay safe.’ Vic searched for something in my eyes, I guess some reassurance I wasn’t sure he could find in them, and then, he was gone out the window again, climbing the small space between my window and the one above.

‘Thalia, get here this second.’ My mother’s voice growled from the living room. I had just finished packing up everything like it had come once, so I rushed to the other room to avoid her shouts. I found her laying on the reclined on the couch with an annoyed expression. ‘Make dinner, will you, girl?’
‘Of course.’ I mumbled. ‘Pasta sounds okay?’
‘It’s the best you’re able to do, so meh...’ She answered vaguely and turned her attention back to the TV.
Barely half an hour later, dinner was ready and I was popping the pills open and sprinkling their content over my mother’s serving. Then, I stirred it and added some mote cheese to both plates to disguise any possible differences between the dishes.
Smelling the food, my mother sat at up and grabbed a hold of the plate I offered her, leaving me no option but to sit on the floor if I wanted to use the table. She scarfed down the whole plate in less than five minutes and, in less that ten more, she was snoring like a big baby. Checking the clock, it was only two minutes before ten and yeah, sure enough, the doorbell rang once shortly. Rushing to open it, I almost tripped before revealing a nervous looking Vic standing on the doorway, holding a heavy looking backpack and his guitar; seeing him standing there, having to move away from his life made me want to curl up in a ball of guilt.
‘You ready?’ He asked in a hushed voice, though no one could really hear us.
I nodded and he walked inside carefully, throwing a disgusted look at my snoring mother on the couch. I didn’t blame him though.
I had traded the small suitcase I had come with for a backpack which would be much more comfortable, so I grabbed it from the bedroom as well as a note I’d left for my mother. Leaving it where she’d surely find it, I turned back my attention to Vic.
‘Are you sure you wanna go?’ I tried reasoning with him once again, but there was no changing his mind now. He nodded curtly and softly smiled.
‘Yes. Come on, let’s go. Jaime’s waiting.’ Vic offered me his hand to take and, together, we exited the flat, leaving it closed and locked with a double turn of the key.

*3rd Person POV*
In front of the building, Jaime stood waiting for his best friend and the girl that he’d grown so fond of. It’d be awful not having them around, having to put the band on hold...; well, everything.
Vic and Thalia emerged from the front entrance of the building, hand in hand, with pairing gloomy expressions on their faces. It wasn’t a happy day, but it certainly was a day to remember - the ending of an era and the start of a new time.
The three people were standing now facing each other when both men fused in a hug full of unspoken words of good wishes, love, luck and-I’ll miss-you’s. With teary eyes, Jaime held Vic arm-length apart and looked at him for a little bit before finally speaking with faltering voice. ‘Now mate, take care yeah? Promise you’ll call? The guys and I will miss you, the girls will be mad at me for not telling any of them about this... But it’s okay ‘cause you’ll be back, yeah?’ His voice was sad for the departure, but hopeful nevertheless.
‘Of course I’ll come back, Hime! I have you all here, you guys are my family, my brothers.’ Vic’s voice trembled. Oh, how all this made Thalia’s heart break. This was all her fault; they had to leave because of her...
‘Now you lovely little girl, come here and say goodbye, will you?’ Jaime spoke to Thalia with a small smile, opening his arms to the girl who rushed to them and into a tight hug. ‘Thalia, we’ve all had so little time to know you it’s not even fair... Truth is it’s too hard to see two people from the small group I consider ‘family’ leave, to even digest it yet.’
‘Oh, Jaime...’ Thalia buried her face in the man’s chest and hugged him tightly, as so did he.

Goodbyes done, Jaime handed Vic the keys of a light blue, rusty pick up. ‘This is the best I could do, hope it does.’ (http://24.media.tumblr.com/eca22eeef7f7b2a1098f356cdf0a077b/tumblr_mzzla0WoKS1r4zqefo1_500.png)
‘It’s perfect, Hime.’ Vic smiled genuinely. Both him and Thalia placed their belongings on the back part of the vehicle before turning to their friend. Vic and Jaime hugged, uttering something along the words of ‘I love you dude’, ‘take care’ and ‘we’ll be waiting for you guy to come back’. Jaime hugged Thalia and whispered ‘Please, take care of him, don’t let him get hurt.’ To which the girl answered – confidently for the first time in some time – ‘Don’t worry, I will.’
Then, with the three of them at the verge of tears and with a knot in the stomach, Thalia and Vic made a final goodbye gesture to Jaime and both of them hoped in the car, ready to go.
‘We’ll miss you Jaime!’ Thalia screamed through the open window once they were already moving and a bit away. Jaime smiled and waved.
‘You’re the best friend anyone could dream of, Jaime!’ Vic did the same. ‘Tell everyone we love them and that we’ll be back soon!’ They saw him smile, nod and wave again, after that, they lost sight of Jaime.
Vic searched beside him for Thalia’s hand and caught it in his own, squeezing it tightly. ‘We’ll make it, Thalia. Together.’
‘Together.’ The girl muttered, with a small smile, looking into his eyes. ‘ I love you.’
‘I love you too.’ Vic chuckled a little at what he’d said and looked at Thalia with eyes full of love and hope. She returned exactly the same look. ‘Two outcasts out in the world.’
‘Then the world is ours.’
And with that, Vic and Thalia were gone. Lost in their future.
