Roots Beneath Ideals

New Year's Surprise

“What’s up New York City!!” Vic yelled through the mic, “I hope everyone is enjoying their New Year’s Eve!”

Roots Beneath Ideals was finally done and the twins pulled some strings to get the guys to play for a New Year’s Eve party along with other local bands and artists. They also sent out the EP to several record labels, but we still haven’t heard anything yet. The twins said a rep from Equal Vision was supposed to be at the party to check out all the bands, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed.

“I’m really glad to be playing tonight along with these other great bands and we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for our awesome manager and best friend Keri. Thanks Keri.”

I poked my head out from backstage for a split second to wave at the crowd.

“You guys are a really amazing crowd and I have one last song for you. I just wrote this song and I’m going to need my number one supporter on stage with me.”

It took me a while to process what he said. I looked to Tyson.

“Well what are you waiting for, number one supporter?”

I frowned.

“Go you loser,” Mike said giving me a light push.

I walked on stage confused. Vic had his hand extended and I took it. He helped me into a chair that was brought on to the stage.

“What are you doing?” I whispered.

“Just listen,” Vic responded with a wink.

I sat in awe after Vic finished singing. The song was sweet. I loved it. I wanted to smother Vic with kisses and never let go…. but I knew that wasn’t possibly any longer. Instead I stood up and hugged Vic tightly.

“I loved it, but don’t do this to me please.”

I then walked off stage before I could start bawling in front of all of these people. I waved Mike and Tyson off when I saw them following me, “Leave me alone.” I went and found the darkest corner and wrapped my arms around my knee.

“You can’t run from Vic forever you know.”

I looked at my dad, “Sure.”

“Tyson is nice and all, but I prefer Vic. So just take him back, it’s not like there’s anything serious going on between you and Tyson.”

“Sometimes I wonder whose side you’re on. You are a typical guy, always sending mixed signals.”

Dad chuckled at my comment, “Well I hope you don’t think I’m that typical.”

“You’re definitely a typical father looking out for his daughter. But I’m not taking him back, at least not yet. An amazing song is not going to make me go running back to him that easily.”

“And you are a typical girl, being a stubborn brat.”

“Hey you made me this way by spoiling me.”

“True. Alright get up before your friends really start to get worried about you.”

“I’ve been sitting her for less than five minutes, I think they’ll survive. I’m going to hang out a little longer.”

Dad sighed, “I was hoping you wouldn’t say that.”

He threw me over his shoulder.

“You know I’m really getting tired of being thrown over people’s shoulders.”

“Oh well.”

I sighed.

As Dad brought us back to the group, I looked up to see a guy talking to all of them.

“Who is that?” I asked a little annoyed for no reason.

“How ‘bout you settle the attitude then find out?”

Dad put me down and I went to join the guys. Tyson took the chance to comfort me by wrapping his arms around my waist. So not comforting.

“Ah Keri, it’s nice to finally meet you.”

“And you are…?”

“I’m Steve Reddy from Equal Vision.”

My jaw dropped, “Oh my god please tell me…”

“Only if I have your full permission.”

“Yes, yes. Please, please.”

“Alright then yes, I’m here to sign The Early Times.”

I jumped, squealing in excitement. I got out of Tyson’s embrace and pulled my boys into a hug.

“Guys you finally did it!”

“Part because you’ve been an awesome manager Keri.” Mike said.

“Dido,” The others chimed.

“Steve let’s trade cards and set up a time.”

“Perfect.”

Dad handed me one of my cards and we switched contact info.

“I’ll be in touch.”

“Great.”

Steve shook everyone’s hand and went on his way.

“Okay first rounds on me. Virgin drinks for everyone!” Dad announced.

We didn’t argue with him, we were all too happy. We all got a glass of sparkling wine to prepare for the countdown.

“Are you going to keep your promise?” Mike whispered.

“I can’t and you know that.”

“You haven’t broken one yet.”

I looked at him and groaned, “Mike-.”

“Do it for me.”

“I will be the death of you.”

I sighed and went to find Vic. As I found him, I tapped his shoulder.

“Don’t take this to heart, I’m only keeping my promise to you, you know the thing you used to know.”

When the countdown ended I pulled Vic into a new year’s kiss. It lasted only moments, but it felt like forever. A forever I didn’t want to end, but it needed to.

“Happy New Year’s Vic.”

“Are you sure about this?” Tyson asked.

“Clearly we wouldn’t be in this position if I wasn’t. Are you opposing?”

“Absolutely not, positively not.”

“That’s what I thought.” I said with a smile.

Tyson fiercely ripped my clothes off, not taking any time. It amazed me that in the matter of seconds I had been stripped, but while he done that, I had him stripped as well. There Tyson and I were, ready for what was to come. I swear that, being with him, at this moment was perfect. I felt him slip into me, as I moaned. He started pacing his thrusts, while I felt as if I were in heaven. He leaned down and kissed my lips, looking in my eyes. I knew what he felt, because I felt it, too. He was the only one that I wanted to be with at this moment.

Maybe it was the liquor in me thinking this, but right now it didn’t matter.

“I don’t care what you say or feel, I love you.” He whispered, kissing me again.

“I love you, too.” I whispered back.

Why did you just say that?

Tyson leaned down, and placed kisses all over my body. My hands went straight to his hair, pulling on his black locks. I squealed as I felt his tongue tease my clit. I locked my legs around his head. His fingers entwined in mine. I felt myself coming to my peek; he then plunged back into me. I moaned in pleasure, as he hit my ‘g spot’. A couple more hits, and I felt myself reaching my peak.

He collapsed on me, breathing heavily.

“Do I get to get use to this now?” Tyson asked.

I giggled, running my hands through his locks, “When you officially ask me out.”

“Well then, how about we go out for breakfast and we can take a nice walk in the park and I can buy you flowers and make it official?”

“Sounds good to me.”

“I meant what I said Keri. It wasn’t the lust or the alcohol talking.” Tyson confessed in the park later that day.

“I’m not going to lie to you; it was the lust and alcohol talking. But I want it to change. We’ve known each other for less than a month, but in that time, I’ve been happier than I’ve been since you know. You make me happy and I want to stay that way.”

Tyson smiled brightly and pulled me into a kiss.

“Can we put the ‘I love you’ to the side for a while though, just until I can really get into the swing of things?” I asked.

“You can, I won’t.”

I smiled, “You are a stubborn beautiful blue eyed boy. Have I ever told you that you have very beautiful eyes?”

“Yes, but please tell me continue to tell me how beautiful they are.”

I gave him a light shove, “Cocky.”

“Complain when it actually bothers you.”

I shoved Tyson again then pulled him into a kiss. Maybe I’m doing this all wrong. Maybe I’m just doing this because I want to get over Vic in whatever way I can even if it meant using Tyson. It was wrong, but I’ll make it work. I’ll learn to love again and Tyson will be my teacher. I like the way he makes me feel. I trust him.
