It was weird not having Tyson around anymore. I felt like a piece of my life was torn into tiny little pieces. Everyone tried their best to cheer me up, even Cara. Yeah she was still around. She never said whether she was going to stay in LA or go back to Texas. I kind of wished she would go back to Texas so some could tell me how Tyson was doing, but I guess that wasn’t going to happen. I had to finally cheer up a little since today was the day the guys were finally going to get a record deal. During my depression period the guys finally found a manager, Michele. From what I heard she was a really cool chick.
I stayed the night with Mike and Vic, so we could all get up and leave at the same time. For some reason, spending the night felt so awkward for me, like I haven’t done it a million times before. I stayed in the guest room rather than staying in either of the guys room. Everyone one in the house thought it was weird, but I just wanted to be alone for a little while longer. But again, today is the day we’ve been waiting for.

“Vic… Hey, Vic wake up already why don’t you?” I shook Vic vigorously with no luck. “Sweetie please wake up, you’re going to make us late.”

Vic rolled over on his back, but kept his eyes closed, “I heard you the first time… I miss hearing you say that…”

“We don’t have time for that this morning, okay?”

Vic finally opened his eyes and suddenly it felt like my heart had leaped into my mouth. I forgot how breathtakingly beautiful Vic was in the morning.

“Are you okay?”

I shook my head, “Yeah, I’m fine. Hurry up.”

I walked across the hall to Mike’s room to wake him up too, but he was already up so I headed into the bathroom to take a shower. I stood under the water doing nothing, but thinking. After seeing Vic there were too many emotions running through me that I didn’t know how to handle. I knew for sure that I wasn’t ready for a relationship again, even if it was with him. But I wanted comfort… from him. Not sexual, but emotional. I felt the need to be in his arms and to have him tell me everything was going to be fine and that we’ll make it through anything, that we could become invisible like we once were.

Fuck hormones.

I got out the shower and finished getting ready. I walked back over to Vic’s room when I was done to check if he did get up, which he didn’t.

“Don’t hurt him,” Mike said as he walked back into his room from the shower.

“No promises. Last chance Vic. You can either get up without getting pissed at me or just get up pissed of period. It’s up to you.”

“Neither.”

I huffed and walked over his bed. I felt his forehead and it was slightly hot.

“Are you feeling alright?”

“No, I feel like I’m going to hurl.”

“Well there you go! On one of the most important days of our lives, he gets sick, awesome.” Mike said in the doorway.

I turned and threw daggers at him, “Mike go away before I hurt you.”

“Fine, fine, all I’m saying is-.”

“Mike.”

Mike turned and went down the stairs.

“Do you want me to call Steve to reschedule for a later time today or some other time?” I asked.

“No, don’t you dare. I’m going to get this band signed in a few hours as planned. I’m not going to let a little sickness stop me. Plus, I still have to keep my promise.”

His promise…? Oh God, that promise! He didn’t plan on trying anything today did he?

“You’ve already broken a few, so what’s one more? You really don’t have to keep this one.”

“No I’m keeping this one no matter what.”

“Man someone is being a hardcore rebel this morning. I don’t think I’ve heard Vic tell you no more than once in a day. By the way what promise are you two keeping from me?” Mike came back with a bowl of cereal.

“Go away Mike.” Vic said.

“I second that.”

“You guys suck, everything is so boring ever since you broke up. Bro hurry up we need to be leaving soon.”

“Yeah, yeah I’m getting up.”

I helped Vic sit up and went to get some medicine, “Here take this and get in the shower. Take your time and down fall over. I’ll go make some breakfast.”

“Thanks Keri, you’re still the best.”

I smiled at Vic and then went downstairs to start making some pancakes. Just as I started to get everything together, Mike popped up behind me ready to grill me with questions.

“So…”

“Don’t ask Mike, this is between Vic and I.”

“Just a hint, please?”

“No, you’ll see for yourself if it happens.”

“If?”

“Yes, if.”

“Whatever, I hate you both. All this secret keeping from me is going to bite you in the ass eventually, but after I get a few stacks.”

“You already had cereal.”

“Your point?”

“Whatever.”

A few minutes later Vic came down the steps and just in time before Mike devoured all of the pancakes.

“What no chocolate chips?” Vic asked eyeing the pancakes like they were poisoned.

“I will shove them down your throat.” I threatened.

“Okay, okay, chill.”

We all sat in silence and ate. This was one of the first breakfasts we had in a while with just the three of us. I felt like we were back in high school again. It was a nice feeling.

“Okay let’s go.” Mike said getting up and collecting our dishes, “Mom can wash these up.”

“When do you guys plan on moving out?” I asked getting up.

“Never! Mommas love is the best kind of love. I’m never letting her go.” Mike said.

Emily walked in the kitchen to hear his speech, “Yeah until you meet the right girl then you’ll be out of here. And you’ve already found one, I wish you would just man up and ask her out already.”

“Mommm.”

“What? It’s true.”

“Nothing is going to happen between Liz and me. I’m pretty sure she’s moved on by now.”

“We’ll you’ll never know until you ask. Now run along, your father and I will meet you guys there.”

“Bye Mom, see you later.”

“Bye Emily.”

“Hey I want to drive.” Mike said as I took my keys out.

“Not my baby.” I told him.

“Don’t look over here either, last time I let you drive you almost totaled my car.” Vic said looking away.

“You can sit in the front if you want.” I told Mike.

Mike looked at Vic.

“What?”

“I’m waiting to hear you protest.”

“I’m not in the mood. Just get in before we’re late.”

Even though I had a gut wrenching feeling something bad was going to happen today, nothing was going to ruin the good parts of it.
