King For A Day

Mike’s POV
I knew I had to get some new clothes because I had been wearing the same clothes for a week and for another thing I was too skinny to fit any of the guy’s clothes. I knew I had to keep it from the guys or they would never let me go. It was late at night probably about 10:00 pm, everyone was asleep so I tiptoed downstairs and snuck out of the house.

I hopped on my skateboard and skated to my house. I noticed several things out of place. Like the fact that there was a brand new Lexus parked in front of my house. Second I noticed that the lights were on in the house and usually dad would be comatose by now.

I put my key in the lock and came in slowly. There was a beautiful Mexican woman sitting on the couch watching tv and there was a boy next to herhe was handsome. He was short and his skin was a shade darker than mine, he had long hair that curled close to the end, he had a nose ring, brown eyes, he was wearing a red t-shirt, black skinnies, and some red toms. I came all the way in.

“um….hi?” they looked up at me. The woman burst into tears and ran over to me.

“Mi hijo como te he extranado!!!” she exclaimed kissing and hugging me. Which translated as my son oh how I’ve missed you. And that meant this woman was my mother…

“Mom?” she nodded and started crying even harder.I couldn’t help but to tear up myself.

“Where were you? Where have you been all this time? Father said that you died. Yet here you are. Why didn’t you come and see me? Why didn’t you take me away from him? I was here alone getting beat and starved and I had no help. Where were you? How could you just leave me like that mom? Don’t you love me?” I cried. I couldn’t believe I was being so emotional right now.

“Michael I am so sorry. I made a mistake a terrible one. I never meant to abandon you….”

“But you did! You left me here without a paddle. You didn’t give a damn about me! I sat here just hoping and praying that someday someone would rescue me and take me to a home where I could be happy and safe! But no one came. Now if you don’t mind I have to get some clothes and I have to go back to my friend’s house. I don’t know how you got in here but you better leave before the drunk comes back from wherever he is.”

“I let her in dumb ass.” My dad said coming from in the kitchen. I raised an eyebrow and looked back and forth between them.

“Michael….you are coming with me. You are coming to live with me in California. We have to get your stuff together tonight and we are leaving tonight.”

“I’m not going anywhere with you. What makes you think you can just abandon me and then come fifteen years later and tell me I am moving to California with you? I’m not leaving my friends, my school, and my life here. I can’t leave Alex.” I said softly.

“Who’s Alex? Is he uh….your boyfriend?”

“no uh…..he’s my best friend. But he is really fragile and he needs me. If I leave him there will be no one here to help him through the stuff that he’s going through. I can’t leave alex.”

“well honey how about we figure it out together. Ok? By the way this is your big brother

Victor Vincent Fuentes. He is 17 years old.” My eyebrows shot up again and I looked over at him.

“hi victor.” He smiled. He walked over to me and hugged me. I hugged him back and we were both crying like a bunch a girls. I had a big brother. I couldn’t believe it.

My doorbell rang and I ran to get it. No one ever came to my house unless it was Alex. I opened the door and sure enough Alex was standing there. He smiled when he saw me.

“Oh thank god you are ok Mikey I was worried about you. Can I come in?” I nodded and stepped back. He came inside and when he did he locked eyes with victor. And I could see that it was one of those love at first sight moments. Oh great my brother and my best friend.
