Skin To Bone. (On Hold... Again.)

I sighed loudly, frustrated, searching for something that was right to wear tonight. I cringed as I heard what I knew was my stepfather and stepbrother screaming at my mother. I was glad that I had remembered to lock my bedroom door earlier, I had even bought a deadbolt and installed it myself when they weren't home the other day. But I refused to let my fucked up family bring me down right now, no not today. Today was for me. Tonight I was going to see my favorite band of all time live for the first time ever, with my three best friends, and well, I honestly could not wait. The only problem at the moment was that I really had no clue what to wear.

I brought my attention away from what was going on downstairs, and back to my closet. I was determined to just pick something out. Finally after much debate, I decided upon a pair of acid washed skinny jeans, with my red Pierce the Veil song title tee, my black and white polka dot hoodie, and my vintage 20's era inspired heeled lace up boots. Once I had made this decision and was sure of it, i quickly changed out of my pajama pants and baggy tee shirt, and began to pull the outfit on. I knew I should probably shower before I left, but that would involve leaving the safety of my room for something other than leaving the house for the night, and with both my stepfather and stepbrother home right now, that was not something I was willing to do. Besides, it wasn't like I was gross or anything, I had taken a shower once today already, in the early hours of the morning when everyone else in my house had been passed out drunk.

I was just pulling my hoodie on, and putting my shoulder length bleached blonde hair into a messy bun, when my phone went off, vibrating on my bed. Reaching over and grabbing it, I saw a text from Rhiannon blinking on the screen.

Rhi <3: Almost ready Zuki?

Typing quickly, I responded.

Me: Yeah... but both my stepdudes are home so I'm going to have to sneak out... It might take me a little while. I will meet everybody at Alejandra's.

She responded almost immediately.

Rhi <3: Okay. Be careful tho. See you soon.

Be careful. Oh believe me, I would be. There was no way in hell I was letting anything stop me from going to this concert. Pierce the Veil was literally the only thing besides the girls that had kept me going, kept me alive, all this time. I was not going to let anything keep me from seeing them live, there was absolutely no way.

In my twenty years of life, I had been through shit that no person should ever have to go through. I can't count how many times I came this close to just ending it all, to just killing my self. But every single time, every single time, the music of Pierce the Veil, and the support of the girls, had pulled me back from my breaking point like the light at the end of a long dark tunnel. And now, finally, I was going to get to see them live in person. And maybe, just maybe, if we were lucky, we would actually get a chance to meet them. Excited didn't even begin to cover my emotion right now.

Placing my phone in the pocket of my hoodie, I went to my bedroom door, and placing my ear against it, listened to try and get a feel for where in the house the 2 people I was most afraid of were located. I frowned when I realized that all noise indicated that they were both still downstairs. Getting past them would be difficult, maybe even impossible, depending on what kind of mood they were in, and how sober they were, and I really did not like the odds of my escape at all.

Looking at my window, I suddenly had an idea. My room was only on the second story, and in the back of the house, and there was a tree just outside that had plenty of sturdy branches for climbing. I could easily escape out my window, and no one would even realize I was gone. Grabbing my backpack, which I carried instead of a purse and never went anywhere without, I quickly, but as quietly as I could, opened my window, and climbed out. Climbing carefully down the tree, I sighed with relief when feet finally touched the ground of my back yard.

Crouching low, I sneaked around the side of my house, and once I reached the front, I started running as fast as I could, not stopping until I reached my friend Alejandra's house at the end of the street. Stopping in her front yard, I stood there panting, and trying to catch my breath. Once I could breathe properly again, I walked up to her door and knocked, smiling when she answered the door.

"Hey! You made it out!" she said, grinning at me.

"Yeah... I had to pull some James Bond shit to do it, but I did," I responded, "Cheyenna and Rhi here yet?"

She shook her head, and motioned for me to come inside. We ended up sitting in her living room and watching music videos of our favorite bands, until we heard Rhi's car pull into the driveway, and two doors slam.

"Well, sounds like they're here," I smiled.

Hope you guys liked this first chapter!!!!! I know it's a bit shortish, but my laptop was acting up, and it's only the first chapter anyway, so I was more worried about quality over quantity.
