High School Never Ends

We Need To Talk

A few minutes later there was another knock at the door: Mike. I couldn’t face him now, especially not Vic. There’s so many things that I still don’t understand. For one, I know that it wasn’t drugs but people who killed my sister, evidently drugs played a part in that though. But not Vic. He’s too sweet and innocent.
Slowly, I got up and weakly reached out for the door handle, opening the door. Mike was stood with a big grin on his face, however his expression quickly changed to concern.
“Hey, what’s up?” He asked
“It’s, uh, nothing. Don’t worry about it.”
“Well your face is telling a different story.”
“Leave it Mike. I’m fine.” I snapped
His expression turned to hurt. I didn’t mean to upset him, I just don’t know what to do about this situation. The only person I feel I can confidently confide in right now is Mike but how would he react? It’s his brother, like Paige was my sister. I can’t expect him to understand. Maybe if I talk to Vic, I’ll get a clearer image yet I need to get him on his own without it being suspicious. That was it, looks like I’m going to have to spend the whole night trying to get answers out of Vic.
“Sorry Mike, it’s been a long day.”
“You don’t have to come if you don’t want.” He reluctantly replied
“What? No, I do want to. I need some time out of this house anyway. C’mon let’s go!” I forced a smile onto my face and pushed past him towards the car.
“I saved the passenger seat for you so you don’t have to be crushed between 2 of the guys. Plus it means that you get a front row view of my driving!” I could almost hear the grin in his voice.
I climbed into the front seat, took a deep breath and turned around to greet Jaime, Tony and Vic.
“Hey guys!” I smiled
I got a “hey” out of Jaime and Tony and a grumpy “hello” out of Vic. Must be because he was squashed between Tony and Jaime. Plus, they were really taking advantage of the opportunity. Mike hopped into the driver’s seat, winked in my direction before pulling away from the curb. I held my breath as he drove up the road. Out of these guys, I would expect Mike to be the most reckless driver, so I was honestly a bit nervous.
