Now as much as I like Oli and he seems like a really great guy I don't actually like him. At least I don't think. How do you know you like someone? I mean I know when I like someone. But I mean like like. Not kiss my boobs like either. Kiss my heart like - only not really. If he literally kissed by heart I'd probably be dead. Only probably.
I decided that I will break up with Oli after our date. I'm here for the free food. I've gotten all dressed up for our date. Even though I might not like Oli I'm still a lady after all. We're all allowed to go into town and spend the day exploring. So Oli is taking me for pizza. As much as I was decided on breaking up with him when it was over that all disappeared when I got in the coach. Mike had his arm wrapped around her. I don't even want to say her name anymore. Let's call her You-Know-Who.
"They're such a cute couple." Sophie said from behind me.
"Hmm yeah." I muttered. B squeezed my hand and I smiled to her in thanks. I looked across at Mike. Oli will ask for my hand in marriage even if it kills me.
After we got off of the coach. Oli was waiting for me and smiled widely. He's so friendly. He has a good set of teeth on him too. I don't because I like drinking coffee in the mornings. We walked down to the pizza place and went inside. After a while we ordered and I realised that I couldn't actually avoid talking to him anymore.
"You look really pretty today." Oli suddenly told me. Okay, okay. What would Cassie do? She's sweet. Everyone likes her.
"Thank you, Oliver."
"Um why did you call me Oliver?" he looks really confused. God damn it.
"Is that not your name?"
"Yeah. Only my mom calls me that though."
"Do you love your mom?"
"Sure, why not." he shrugged. Well, this is going well. What can we talk about?
"How's Vic?" I blurted out. Damn I'm desperate.
"He's good. We were jamming together the other week. He's gotten a band together." I wonder if Mike knows about this.
"Do you have a band?"
"Oh, yeah!" Oli exclaimed excitedly. "We're called Bring Me The Horizon. We're kind of good too." He's telling me all about who plays what and how he writes songs. I thought Vic was bad, but gosh he's not shutting up. Now he's talking about distortion pedals. Why would I care?
Just in time the pizza arrived. Phew. I took a slice and started to eat. It's possibly the best pizza I've ever tasted. This is how it's supposed to be. It's never like this back home. But San Diego isn't really known for it's pizza. More for the Mexicans and don't I know we have enough of those.
"You should come to one of my shows. You can come back stage with me." Oli said when we were finished.
"Really? I can't wait!" I grinned.
"Matt's girlfriend is talking about coming on the road with us after I've finished high school."
"I don't think we're ready for that." I rushed. Saying that being a groupie would be kind of cool. If they get big like the Beatles I could write my own book.
"No... I didn't mean that! Like way too soon, this is date one. But you know if you wanted to that it would be cool too. I'd need to see you in a bikini first though." Oli stuttered.
"Why a bikini?" I frowned.
"Because it's like socially acceptable underwear."
"I like underwear. I wear it every day." I said knowledgeably.
Once I'd finished properly Oli paid the man, which is actually lucky because I didn't bring my purse. Then we walked out into the street. I saw Mike and Dom walking towards us. Mike had his arm around her. Oli took my hand quickly and I smiled. Look who has a boyfriend now, Mr I-Kiss-And-Then-Get-A-Girlfriend.
Mike nodded curtly at me and I stuck my tongue out at him. My maturity amazes me sometimes. Oli stopped right at the point we met up. He squeezed my hand and smiled down at me. "This has been really fun." he whispered.
"I know."
"Do you want to hang out some more? Or go see your friends. Mine are texting me asking if I scored a hot girlfriend yet."
"I could go and tell B how well it went. You could tell your friends you bagged said hot girl." I teased. Oli smiled brightly and leant in. Woah there. I got on my tip toes to kiss him. I met his lips and we kissed. Now the kiss wasn't amazing. It wasn't poor but it wasn't Mike standard.
"I'll see you soon, Nelissa." Oli said and pecked my lips once more.
"Bye." I pulled away. I waved and walked along to where I knew everyone would be.
I stopped outside a diner and went inside. I saw B and Cassie at a table. With Mike, Tony and Jaime at one near by. "How was your date?" Cassie asked me as I sat down.
"It was great! He's perfect!" I exclaimed pretty loudly. Not for Mike's benefit. I'm lying. Totally for Mike's benefit.
"Did you break up?" B asked.
"No, I want to see how things go." I explained.
"You know what!" I heard Mike exclaim. I know I was loud but jeez I bet Vic would hear him. "My girlfriend is just so great and perfect! Did you know that Nel?!"
"I didn't!" I mocked. "But wow, Oli is such a great kisser! Not too much tongue like some people, I mean we're kissing not going down town!" I said back.
"That's weird because Dom loves my kissing! She moans and everything!" Mike retorted. Everyone was looking now.
"Does she have a thing for dementors? How silly of me! If one kissed her it'd die!" I said earning some laughs. Mike stood up and walked over. I got up too. I put my hands on my hips and he looked down at me.
"You take that back!" Mike snapped.
"I will not, soul sucker!"
"Frizzy hair!" he shot back.
"Mexican skin!"
"That isn't even an insult." he rolled his eyes.
"You're not even an insult!" I'm doing so well here. I'm bound to win this argument.
"Your mom isn't!"
"At least I know who my mom is!"
"I know who my mom is! She's right at home."
"So you know who your mom is but not who your brother is dating?" I mocked.
"Don't go there."
"I just did!" I stuck my tongue out at him.
"Put that away, I don't want to see it when it has Oli germs on it. You probably smell of tea!" Mike rambled.
"Hey, I like burritos!" Jaime suddenly exclaimed. "Does anyone else?!"
"I do! They're so warm and filling!" Tony added.
"Let's fill one with friendship! A burrito of friendship!" Jaime called.
"Jaime, there's no point. It isn't working." Cassie said gently.
Then out of no where I kicked Mike right in the shin. "Ouch!" he yelled and screamed like a girl. He started hopping from one foot to the other and holding his shin. "What was that for you crazy person?!" he squealed. "You're crazy!"
"Well it takes one to know one!" I snapped.
"No wonder Vic didn't want everyone knowing! My mom would have gone loopy, you're off your rocker!" Mike said.
I let his words sink in. Is that right? That's why. I looked down and swallowed hard. Mike touched my shoulder. I think he knew what he did. Suddenly I took my charm bracelet off. I opened his palm and pressed it into his hand.
"I don't want it, Mike." I said.
"No, no," Mike rushed. "It was a present, Nel. You have to keep it."
"I don't want to." I swallowed hard. Then before he could protest I set it down on Mike's table and pulled B and Cassie out of the diner.
