Senior Year, Biscuits & The Fuentes Family As Told By Nelissa Brown

Shouting, Diners, Pancakes and Fuentes

I stumbled down the street and huffed when I realise Mike was following me. Did he not listen to what I just said?! Maybe he's going deaf. Now I need to learn sign language. Great. I kept walking and walking. Mike isn't too fast after all the drinks he had. But a block later he's still following me. Apparently he can't take a hint. "What?!" I exclaimed, turning around to face him.
"I'm sorry." Mike rushed. I sniffed angrily like a wild sniffing dog and folded my arms across my chest.
"Where's B?" I asked.
"In the bar. She was trying to follow and fell. Jaime and Tony are with her. They're calling Linton," Mike exclaimed. What he has failed to realise is that Linton is about as much use as a chocolate teapot. "Can we talk?" Mike asked. I shook my head and went to walk again. "Wait!" Mike yelled. He grabbed my arm and turned me to face him. He looked down for a while before he sighed.
"I'm waiting." I snapped.
"I was at the park with Jaime and Tony. We didn't mean to see. But all of a sudden I see you. This girl that I've only really started to just talk to. Then I see you climb a tree, wow that's odd. I almost went over. But then out of no where I see my brother. My brother and you... I couldn't believe it. I couldn't not watch." Mike explained.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked.
"What could I say?" he sighed. "Look, I know I had no right to kick off like that tonight. No right at all. I'm sorry, Nel. But I really care about you." he finished.
"Care about me how?"
"What do you mean?" Mike frowned.
"Like weather care or people care?"
"What on earth is weather care?" he almost laughed. No wonder he won't get into college, he ain't too bright.
"Like you kind of care but not really. Like you'd care about the weather if you were going for a picnic."
"What was the other option?"
"People care. So you care about me and what happens to me and if I'm happy or sad." I explained.
"Yeah, the second one."
"Not weather care?" I asked hopefully.
"People care," Mike confirmed. "This is getting all odd. I'm sorry. I didn't mean anything I said."
"Really?"
"I promise," he smiled. "So forgive me?"
Forgive him? "No." I said firmly.
"No?" Mike echoed.
"No. Like no I don't. Not Opposite Day no, normal it's just a Sunday no."
"But-"
"I can't forgive you, Mike. A few hours ago I was crying over you."
"Okay," he told me sadly. "I understand."
"I should go help B." I said.
"Okay, let's go." Mike nodded.
We walked back to the bar and tried to get in. Apparently I don't look twenty one. I tried to explain that I graduated high school seven years ago and at home I have three children and I'm on my second husband. But it didn't seem to work.
Jaime walked out with Tony behind him. Tony was carrying B who peered down at me once Tony was standing next to me. I think she's too happy with her current position. "How's the leg?" I raised my eyebrows.
"I think it's broken. I need it amputated. I'll have to have a wooden pirates leg and change my name to Captain Becky, arrrr!" She is one to exaggerate.
"I'll take her home." I said.
"Will you be okay?" Jaime asked.
"Yeah, she can hop." I shrugged.
"We tried to call Linton." Jaime said.
"He's probably searching for shark horses in a puddle or something," I shrugged, making B glare. "Let's soldier on." I told her. Tony placed her on her feet and she hopped over to me. I held her up and we waved to the boys. B started hopping down the street until the boys had turned the other way. She fell into step with me, walking completely normal again. I knew it! The faker!
"Was pretending hard?" I asked easily.
"Surprisingly easy. Those boys believe anything. I think I bruised my knee when I threw myself down though."
"So you got Tony to carry you?"
"He offered." she grinned.
"Did you make Mike chase me?" I asked.
"I was going to. But he beat me to it. He ran straight out after you. I thought you could do with alone time so I did the entire faking my injury thing," B explained. "So, what happened?"
"He told me he's sorry and he didn't mean any of it. I forgive him though."
"Good," B said brightly. "Now let's make a pizza stop before we head to my house." she said easily.

When I woke up I was hungry. I'm hungry most of the time though. It was still dark outside. I saw B sleeping next to me and shuffled downstairs in my p.j.'s. I can't believe it. There's no food! None. All B has is almond milk and sesame seeds. I don't know what I can do with that. Seasme milk? I don't think that's delicious.
I could order a pizza but I have no money. And I had pizza last night. I'm probably eighty percent pizza right now. I'll be oozing tomato sauce soon. I went to grab my jacket and got on my slippers. Then I went outside. I started walking and headed for the diner. There's not many people around at this time. What is this time? I have no idea.
When I reached the diner I saw Mike, Tony and Jaime inside. It struck me I was wearing shorts and a tank top. Oh and no bra. I wasn't expecting to see anyone I knew. I shuffled inside and went to the counter. At least now I won't have to pay.
"Hey Nel." Tony said.
"Hello." I smiled sleepily.
"So, what you doing?" Mike asked.
"I want food." I grumbled.
"Did you not have food at home?" Mike asked.
"All B has is seeds. I can't have seeds. Do I look like a bird?"
"What do you want?" Mike asked.
"Pancakes."
"Sit down." Mike urged.
I shuffled over and collapsed down into the booth. Jaime patted my back and leant up against him. "Why are you out on your own at four in the morning?" Jaime asked.
"It's four?" I looked up. "I thought it'd be more like two."
"Why would you go out at two in the morning anyway?" Tony asked.
"I'm a ninja?" I tried.
"Right...." Mike trailed away. "Your pancakes are coming." he told me.
"Thanks." I told him.
"So Nel, what's up with the rad attire?" Mike asked.
"Hmm?"
"Your crazy p.j.'s." Tony said for him.
"They're kinda risqué." Jaime grinned.
"Leave my p.j.'s alone," I stuck my tongue out at them. There's nothing wrong with them. They have foxes on them with Chinese writing too. I don't speak Chinese. I could be wearing an invited to come at staple my ears to the wall. I hope not though. "You are you guys back out this early, or this late... I don't know which." I said.
"We never went home." Mike laughed.
"How come?"
"We like coming to diners late early." Jaime shrugged.
"It's where we kidnap drunk women and take them back to our lair." Mike grinned.
"They're all buried under Tony's lawn." Jaime said.
"Why my lawn?" Tony complained.
"You have that I'm going to kill a girl and bury her in my back yard look about you." Mike shrugged.
"You know if you lost the dimples you would make a scary serial killer." I suddenly said. Everyone laughed. I don't know why, I was being serious.
"Me?" Tony whined. "What about Mike? And Jaime?"
"Jaime is too happy to be a serial killer. Maybe he could be own of those clowns, you know that leer at you smiling before they snap your neck. Mike already looks like a serial killer, but in an obvious way. Everyone always knows not to go for the obvious, that's why he'll never get caught." I explained casually.
"You've really thought this through, haven't you." Jaime said.
"Yeah. I've been thinking about it for a while. I told B but she threw a cat at me."
"What?" Mike gasped.
"A stuffed toy cat." I added quickly.
"It wouldn't have even surprised me if she threw a real cat at you." Tony said.
"Let's not give her the idea." I replied. My pancakes were set down in front of me and my eyes lit up. "It's missing biscuits." I sighed. Jaime grinned at me and set down a packet on the table. I took them and started crumbling digestives onto my pancakes. Then I poured maple syrup on top.
"You did not just do that." Mike wrinkled his nose.
I took a huge bite and stuck my pancake-y, biscuit-y, syrup-y tongue out at him. "It's yummy."
"You're gross." Mike shook his head.
Jaime grabbed a fork and shovelled some into his mouth. "This isn't bad, you know." he said.
"I want to try some." Tony said and took the fork. I don't like this. I'm getting the urge to take my plate and run.
"You're all gross." Mike said.
"It's delicious. I like it. Cassie liked it that one time in food tech." I said.
"Cassie is coming to the Italy trip." Jaime said excitedly.
"And?" I urged.
"And he's so excited to be in a confined space with her he's already wet his pants twice." Mike teased.
"It was once!" Jaime joked.
"Is Becky going?" Tony asked.
"Yeah. I am too. I wonder how biscuit pizza would taste." I pondered.
"Probably a lot like biscuit pancakes." Mike rolled his eyes at me.
I grabbed my plate and finished my pancakes under the table. Just you know... the normal thing to do. Afterwards I remerged holding my plate. I think they've been making fun of me.
"You ready?" Mike asked.
"Yeah." I nodded.
"I'll walk you to Becky's. If you go out like that at this time you'll get sexually assaulted." Mike said.
"What about you? You might get sexually assaulted."
"No I won't." Mike laughed.
"Yeah, who in their right minds would sexually assault Mike?" Jaime teased.
"Shut up." Mike glared.
"Tony how do you make them shut up?" I asked curiously.
"You don't," he shrugged. "You just zone out and occasionally nod."
"What if they ask questions?"
"Yes or no. If you say the wrong one just repeat what they said and it'll confuse them." Tony said easily. He's pretty wise, for a guy with dead women under his lawn I mean.
Mike pulled me up and wrapped his arm around my shoulders. He's trying to get me to leave. I don't know why. My mom has been trying to get me to leave for years, it hadn't worked for her so far.

@sleepingwiththedisco
I might just add a chapter here and there to it. I have loads pre written I just definitely don't have time to write. With working in retail over Christmas, working on the KKP and going to college too I have no time. But thank you lovely! You're so sweet! With Break The Barricade I'm not saying it's impossible, but so unlikely it'll be finished. Like I said I'm so busy and Simone is at university doing a psychology degree. I actually only get to speak to her properly around once a week because she's so packed! And ahh I see xoxo
