These Are the Memories Between Us

Lok-Oblaan-Vul’s POV

That boy, that joor. He piqued my curiosity. I wasn’t willing to crush him under my thunderous maw. Toltek, the man with strength, had something about him that I couldn’t put my talon on.

He was no normal joor.

I called him joor, mortal, but he was the opposite. He is Gein wo vaan vothni viing. From the moment he entered the cave, I thought him of dovah, I thought him of dragon. I had snuck out of my hole to confront the foe, but found him puny.

He is not human.

But how does he possess a joor body? If he has the sil, sahlon, and hah of dovah, how is human, and a boy, no less!

But, joor or dovah, he beat me at a game of riddles. I owed him free passage, and he didn’t take it. Then, he proceeded to tell me he would not let the others be aware of my presence! How noble, how kind!

That was the sealing of the deal. He was no normal joor, mortal. He had to possess some dovah in his heart. I owe him a favor for keeping such a weighty secret.

That’s why I was battling the zuld right now, the maelstrom.

Honorable storm, I ride your vicious viing.” I growled in pleasure. Being storm-born myself, I felt the energy course through me. It was invigorating! That boy had done wonders for me. I had finally gone out of the cave in about a decade to do something other than hunt. What wonders!

I had not enjoyed a storm this fierce in quite a while. Although it is no qo strun, it was better than nothing. I shot a bolt of lightning arcing through the sky before returning to my duties.

The vampires, the Vulcan, were kind. Surprisingly enough, they were quiet neighbors, despite their nightly wanderings in search for feed-subs. However, they only did that on the rare occasion. I must give it to them. They are alike the dovah in the ways of they keep one mate and mourn when he or she dies. They are not like the desert wandering vampires who get rid of humans like they are cow bones.

I shuddered at that thought.

The Vulcan at least took care of the girls. That was the only reason I kept the peace with them. They will now owe me a hindah, a favor, if I can find the group.

The wind changed directions as I flew high over the forest. Slowing down, I sniffed the air. Licking my lips, I smiled in pleasure. It was them, the girls, the fear, the blood from a cut leg, the anxiety….all down below me.

Spreading my great black wings, I unfurled my large length. Tip to tip of each hooked wing, I had to be about thirty feet across. Neck to tail, about twenty five. The joor have poor measurements, but I was equipped with Heaven and Hell’s most divine senses.

I dove down to peek through the mist. I saw a group of twelve struggling through the snow. Three fell down and four boys rushed to their aid.

Oh the joor, the fearful joor. They help each other despite circumstances. I had to give them that, even against all odds, I gave them that.

I had their location, about three miles from the cave. They seemed to have been walking in a big circle, and now they were falling. The cold would get to them soon. The vampires were close behind. I could smell the sickly sweet smell of something…not from this world.

The immortal dead always had that odd odor. They smelled like an old blanket, kind of musty, but of ancient memories.

I skimmed the treetops as the smell got stronger. There had to be eight that I could see. There might be more, but the sudden gust was starting to cover up their scents. Damn blizzards!

“Krosis! They will freeze if they are not to reach the feed-subs soon!” I growled softly. I let out a soft call to the vampires. They crouched, prepared for danger, as I soared low over their heads.

“Lok-Oblaan-Vul, what do we owe this pleasure?” The tallest man, Chris, asked me. I settled down with a heavy plop on the earth. Great proportions does not make one most graceful.

Your feed-subs have escaped and you let them freeze.” I chuckled to him. He rolled his eyes and tapped his foot impatiently.

“We are searching for them now. We must go, Lok.” He bobbed his head. I barred my teeth, halting them from leaving me.

Meyus vozahlaas! You walk the wrong path! I have found them south about three miles. Take that way through the trees. Three have fallen, more will fall and perish if you don’t make haste.” I warned them. Another tall man raced off in that direction with a ginger male hard at his heels. A girl followed.

“Thank you, Lok-Oblaan-Vul. We owe you greatly.” Chris nodded, but relief was evident on his face. I gave a sharp bob of my head before taking off. I would circle the area until the girl had been found safely.

Within the next few minutes. The vampires had left no trace in the meadow. I saw them close in on the girls, most who now lay in defeat on the snow. Keeping high in the sky, I kept my eye on that group.

They were special. I knew it.

As I flew off I stretched my wings and flew in loops. It was great to stretch. I might have to hunt soon. Deer was plentiful. I would need some meat to refresh my aching belly.

I had helped that strange boy who was no joor. He had better keep well on his promise.

Notes

So if you're wondering what the heck the dragon words mean, click the link here and type it in! It'll give a direct translation to what the draconic word means! Remember to type it in the second box where it's a draconic to English translation! The language is from Skyrim, for all my Elder Scrolls gamers, such as myself :)
