Hidden in Plain Sight

Chapter 5

*Jamie's POV*

A few days later, Mike has finished tracking his drum parts and Carly wants to begin recording bass. This means it's my time to shine. Before leaving home, I pack my bass into it's new case and sit it softly in my car. This bass is my pride and joy.

Walking into Fearless and into our designated studio, Carly is once again laying back in her wheelie chair with her red and black blend guitar In hand and strumming away. Each day is the same almost. Carly getting to work early and then me arriving then Tony and the brothers each arriving with each other. The time before everyone else shows up has given me and Carly some great time to get to know each other.

"I have to ask, where did you buy your guitar?" I ask as it rests in her lap.

"Jack gave it to me as a going away present and a thank you. It was originally white but I had it painted to look cool" she explains, a small chuckle at the end of her sentence.

"I see. When did you start playing guitar?" I ask. I'm always asking her questions.

"Since I was like 5. My grandad would play it a lot at family functions and I thought it was cool so he taught me for about 3 years. From then on I kinda just taught myself."

"Hey that's similar to how Tony learnt to play" I say excited.

"What did I learn to do?" Tony walks in as if on cue.

"Your grandad taught you how to play guitar?" Tony nods. "So did Carly's grandad."

"Oh that's cool" he says before joining us wheelie chair of his own. "Where did you get your guitar?"

"Jack gave it to me as a going away present and thank you. It was originally white but I had it painted to look cool" Carly recites the answer. Tony nods in understandingly.

Carly looks at her phone checking the time. The Fuentes brothers are 10 minutes late. Carly says she will call Vic soon and see what's up but first she asks me to begin setting up my bass ready to record. I do so, pulling my dull green and white bass out of the case. In doing so, Carly turns to me and I accidentally hit her in the face with the end of my guitar as I was turning to her.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry, are you okay!" I exclaim, jumping up and making sure she is okay. I hold her shoulders as she crouches into her knees. Thinking I've hurt her, I hold her shoulders.

She rises from her crouched position before telling me that she was okay. All it left was a slight red mark along her right cheek. She was laughing the whole time. Even though she said she's okay, I still feel bad for hurting her.

A few seconds later, Tony begins to giggle lightly while staring at his phone. I ask him why.
"Oh I was just making a short video to put online and I caught the whole incident" he plays us the video. My guitar swiping across Carly's face. Now I feel twice as bad. "Can I upload it?" He looks to us for permission. Well really Carly's permission.

"Yeah sure, I don't mind" she smiles. Tony nods. He soon uploads the video. I jump on my phone to see what he has captioned it. The video uploaded to Instagram and twitter is captioned "So Jaime nearly killed our producer...". It already had more than a hundred views.

"Okay guys. That's it, phones away. We have precious music to create" Carly claps her hands. Tony and I place our phones in our pockets. I pick up my bass and sit it in my lap ready to go.

"Wait a second... Where are Mike and Vi-" Tony was cut off with Carly's phone ringing. All Time Low's 'Guts' begins to play from her black jean pocket.

"Yo" she simply answers. "You are both half an hour late. Where are you?" "Are you serious. Neither of you have a car? I find that really suspicious" Carly begins to sound angry. Tony and I look at each other expecting to know who it is. I think it's either Mike or Vic. "Right. Well I'm not happy. I'll send Tony to come pick you up" "bye"

Carly hangs up her phone and let's out a breath she seemed to be holding. "Apparently Vic and Mikes cars have both broken down and only decided now to call me. Tony I need you to pick them up. Jaime and I have work to do" she orders us.

"Where are they?" Tony asks, standing up to grab his keys and wallet. Carly says that they are both at their houses. "Okay, I won't be too long hopefully" tony leaves on a light note, probably smart because Carly does not seem happy.

I sit up in my chair, my bass ready to go and music pulled out ready to go. "Okay, so do you want to go through and rehearse this or go straight to recording?" She asks.

"Can I rehearse just a couple things?" I asks. Carly nods.

I begin to play my part. Carly watched intently as I play almost effortlessly. I catch her glimpsing at me a few times as I play through the first song. There is a small smile playing at the edge of her lips and I can't help but smile myself. She is trying hard to hide it right now, focusing on the computer screen more.

"Wow. That was pretty much perfect" Carly says almost stunned.

"Thanks. I've actually never played so well. In rehearsals I fucked up a good 5 or 6 times" I reply with a laugh about my voice.

"I know that all too well" she laughs. "Alright, you wanna get recording?" I nod resetting myself. Working with Carly has been great so far. I kinda don't want the guys to come back.

Notes

Yeah I'm not really feeling this chapter for some reason. But guys please tell me your thoughts. I do love hearing them. Unless they're mean. I don't like mean. Haha.

Split it!!

If separating it into 2 parts makes the story have a better ending than I'm all for it. I don't mind waiting a little longer
