Hidden in Plain Sight

Chapter 10.

*Jaime's POV*

"Hurry the fuck up or we'll leave your ass at home!" Mike calls out from my living room.

I hurry up and jump into my favourite pair of black skinny jeans and run down my hallway. The guys wait eagerly for me on my large lounge chair. Vic and Tony are talking to Jess, trying their best to convince her to come. She refuses to though. It actually sucks.

"We ready to go?" I say to everyone.

"Let's hit this club!" Vic and Tony yell out in unison. We all paused for a second to take in the once in a lifetime moment.

"You sure you don't want to come?" I ask Jess just as everyone is heading out.

"You go have a good time. I love you" she leaves a small kiss on my lips.

"I love you too" I say when the kiss breaks.

I rush out the door and everyone has jumped into Mikes car. He's got a pretty cool car. With mikes rap music pumping through the car, we cruise through the streets of night time San Diego. I can feel a very excited yet chilled vibe between us. We are celebrating. We are celebrating our new album being halfway done. Yeah it sounds lame, but you gotta look at the little things right?

"Yeah mike turn left here" Vic points from the backseat but mike just keeps going. "Why didn't you turn?" Mike stays quiet.

"No let's go here, they got some babes here" Tony points from beside me. Again mike just keeps going and stays silent.

What the hell is wrong with Mike. Does he know what he's doing and where he is going and how we are getting home?

"Where the hell are you taking us Mike?" I blurt out. I just want to go somewhere good. I can feel a good a good night happening.

"Well if you're just so eager to get your drink on, I was scouting out the clubs the other day and I discovered a really cool one downtown called Wolf. It's actually pretty cool. It's got a good bar at a good price and it even has decent live music. I thought I'd take us there tonight" Mike finally talks after being pestered by us.

We all mumble a 'sounds good' and a nod. Not long after Mike describes the club, we pull up in the parking lot. There are quite a few cars around here and there is a cool neon sign that says 'Wolf' on the roof. It really does seem fancy. Exiting the car we can hear the pound of some dance sort of music from inside. This could be interesting.

We walk up the door and approach a big built man. "You're all over 21 right?" He asks. (21 is Americas legal age right?) We all give a nod and he let's us through. We are all about 25-28. We look it. Although I'm not sure about Vic, he is quite short but he's the oldest. Oh well.

We walk through a dark doorway into a massive wide open club. Tables sat almost everywhere, a very very big bar corners the club and a huge dance floor is at the back. There are masses of people everywhere. Groups of people at the bar, some people sat at the tables and the people on the dance floor are either stumbling or grinding someone. We all walk over to the bar, ordering our starting drinks.

Finding a spare table, we seat ourselves, placing our drinks in the centre of the table. We all gesture to Mike to do the honours. "Gentlemen, here's to our album being nearly halfway done". Mike cheers and we all pick up our drinks, clashing them together as we celebrate with a 'cheers' and we down a mouthful of drink. It is a ritual of ours that if we ever celebrate something, we make it special. And this is our way.

We take ours seats, just chatting away. "I wonder if there is any live music tonight?" I ask. Tony shakes his head at me while Mike and Vic look for some sign of live music. I check the time and it is about 8pm. As if one cue, a loud voice booms through the club. "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Miss Carly Fox to the stage".

In a split second, we have all turned to each other recognising the name. We say to each other that it couldn't possibly be Carly as in Carly our producer. It has to be a different person. But we were all proven wrong. Carly our producer, walks out onto the stage, a painted acoustic guitar in tow. As she plugs in her guitar, some awful feedback booms through the speaker. Carly mumbles an 'oops, sorry' before getting comfortable in the stool provided.

"Hi guys, I'm Carly and I'm gonna play a couple of songs for you tonight" Carly says into the microphone, earning a small laugh between us. We take small glances at each other, desperately waiting to hear her play. We have no doubt that she will kill it, well at least I have no doubt. I've heard her play and I've heard her sing and it's gorgeous.

And here are those fucking feelings again.

"This ones called If It Means A Lot To You". I hear Carly before she begins to play the A Day To Remember song. As Carly began to sing, I felt a wave of absolute awe come over me. She sounded so perfect, so natural. I've never seen anything like it. When she pauses, the crowd of people erupt in cheers. I join in. There was no way I wasn't going to. Looking beside me, the guys are all cheering too. It was so amazing.

She moved onto some more songs, songs I hadn't heard of before. Mainly the ones by Ed Sheeran. But they were such beautiful songs. I really liked the song Afire Love. It was so emotional. The lyrics were so sad and Carly sung it with absolute passion.

The whole show for the past hour has been a blast. Carly is a great performer, a killer guitar player and her voice is just so powerful. There has not been a moment when my heart stopped racing. But then she played her last song.

"I've had a great time playing for you guys tonight. Thank you all so much. This last song is a favourite of mine. I wrote it with a couple of friends about two years back. Sing along if you know it. This songs called Guts" She says into the microphone.

Guts. Alex's favourite song he's ever written. And I know that from touring with them last year. Alex and I were talking about our favourite songs and he said he loved Guts. Now that I think of it, I also remember Alex telling me about the girl he wrote the song with.

"Dude, I love that song, how'd you get to write something so fantastic?" I ask Alex in amazement.

"Well, our producer, Foxy gave me the idea. We were talking one day and the inspiration just hit me. She's a pretty good source for inspiration" Alex laughs at the end.

"Foxy. Haha, what a name" I laugh. "Is that her nickname?"

"Yeah, well Jack gave her that nickname" Alex informs me. "I swear those two have something going on"
"Is she like a slut who drinks like Jack?"

"No, she isn't actually. She doesn't really like to party and drink either. But she's a sweet girl and she's quite funny. She found Jack passed out on her trailer of university gear when we were in Australia and yeah. But I can see Jack eyeing her off a bit but not in the Jack wants to fuck way" Alex laughs.

"Damn, she sounds cool"

I am taken out of my dream cloud with the roar of a standing ovation. Carly has finished playing guts and people are standing up and cheering for her, and I do the same. Mike, Vic and Tony are all standing too, adding to the roar of the crowd. As she unplugs her guitar, she takes one last look at the crowd and she found us.

Notes

I'm sorry I've been slow with updates but I'm quite a busy person you see. Haha.

Split it!!

If separating it into 2 parts makes the story have a better ending than I'm all for it. I don't mind waiting a little longer
