The Throw-Aways

They Think I'm Crazy, but They Don't Know the Feeling

Friday night and it was time to unwind after hard rehearsal. Austin was in the kitchen making popcorn and I was in charge of getting the movie ready. The outside light finally died as the playing menu started. Todays featured film: Lord of the Rings-the Return of the King

During practice today, I had managed to get through three of the songs without my arm malfunctioning. It seemed to jolt and halt during Second and Sebring. I had to take a break and reconnect everything. This occurrence sent me worries. What if this was during an actual concert? What would happen then?

The microwave annoyingly beeped for the popcorn to be done. I set the remote next to me and Austin came in carrying a plastic bowl filled with deliciously popped kernels of corn. He smiled and set it down, exchanging the bowl for the remote. Even though I could set up my laptop, program the system to play exactly what I what when I want it, and I could multitask by playing solitaire, practice with the band, and Skype Kylar at the same time, but I couldn’t work the remote.

It was a little pathetic.

On the screen, Frodo and Sam were journeying through harsh terrain as Austin attempted to distract me by playing with my hair. He had helped me freshly dye it a couple of days ago. His hands wove through the strands, gently running down my back.

“Aus….STAHP! You’re distracting me.” I groaned and pursed my lips. He laughed and pulled me onto his lap. I folded into his arms as he kissed the top of my head. There was some pretty exciting stuff going on and this butthead had to distract me from it.

“I do what I want.” He chuckled softly. Using every ounce of willpower, I focused on the screen as he rested his chin on my shoulder. The warm breath tickling my neck was making my mind fuzzy.

Willpower….fading….fast!

“AUSTIN CARLILE!” I roared. He held me closer as I struggled to escape. Redemption was unable to move and I couldn’t fight back.

“Come on, Raven! Let’s watch the movie!” He chuckled. I rolled my eyes and finally settled down. There were two armies about to clash and I couldn’t miss any funny line about throwing dwarves!

Jakes snored through the entire thing.

At the end of the movie, I was slowly drifting off. I managed to stay awake through the entire finale, all the way from the elves and their rescue mission to Frodo leaving. My eyelids drooped like they had ten pounds of weight on them.

“Ready for bed?” He asked me quietly, the voice breaking such fragile silence as the TV shut off. I nodded and he picked me up, not letting me walk up the stairs on my own.

“Austin, you can put me down.” I complained to him. His strong limbs never did set me on solid ground. He kicked open the door and let me fall into the bed. I grumbled and glared up at him. He laughed and I shoved my head under a pillow.

“Go away.” My muffled voice mumbled. He flounced down beside me, wrapping an arm around waist and pulling me from under my pillow. I squealed and struggled under his grasp.

“AUSTIN! I have to take off my arm!” I laughed as he tickled that spot on my side that always made me laugh. He didn’t stop as I curled into a ball and couldn’t breathe from his funny attack. Eventually, I pushed him off and leapt off my bed. Jake didn’t exactly enjoy almost being stepped on, but I ignored my pug for a moment rotate the disc and carefully lay my arm in the case. Shutting it, I hopped back in bed. Of course, the little plate that stayed constantly attached to Nubby the nub was in place.

“So how’d you like the movie?” He asked. We both lay on our backs, staring up to nowhere and somewhere at the same time. My ceiling happened to be very interesting.

“It was good, it was good. You kept distracting me, though! I nearly missed the entire first half!” I complained. His devilish smile reappeared.

“Hey, you can’t resist me.” He teased. It was true, I couldn’t resist his brilliant smile.

“Well aren’t you a charmer.” I rolled my eyes in the dark and rolled over onto my left side, away from him. I kicked my way under the covers and closed my eyes. Of course, I wasn’t allowed to sleep as long as Aus was around.

“Hey, are you excited for the concert next week?” He murmured to me, pulling me into his chest. I rolled over to face him.

“Yes, I am.” I yawned softly. He laughed and kissed the top of my head.

“It’s so close. I can’t wait to see Jack and Alex again.” He mumbled. I nodded, the memories of Jay creeping into my head again.

Just when I thought I could sleep, she goes and takes it away from me.

Great.

“I can’t either.” I responded dully and closed my eyes to the dark room around me. A peeking beam of yellow light from the hallway glinted into the guest bedroom, but otherwise it was like pure night invaded our cozy little spot in the house.

With a sigh, I allowed an uneasy rest to overcome me.

I dreamt of Middle Earth and Hobbits, of Mordor and Jay instead of Sauron.

It was terrifying.

Notes

So all has been happy and wonderful for Raven! She's gotten her new arm, she's been working hard at the keyboard and getting ready for the next concert! R-Girl's got a good relationship with Austin. Life couldn't be more perfect, right?

WELL I'M ABOUT TO CHANGE THAT!!! MWAHAHAHAHA!!!
