The Throw-Aways

It's Love that Keeps Fueling Me

“WE’RE DOING TEAM!” Alan declared loudly as soon as we got on the bus. Mark and my dad were hanging outside, already chatting about anything and everything. The two had instantly hit it off and you could’ve sworn that they had been best friends for years. To escape the hot day in Denver, we turned on the air conditioner. Everyone sat down around the couch and table as Alan dug under hundreds of letters and pictures for the Monopoly board.

“Okay, princess. What teams are we doing?” Aaron laughed.

“I call Raven!” Austin proclaimed. Tino wiggled his eyebrows at Aus, causing him to glare at the drummer. Kylar stuck by my side, eyes wide with awe. She had gone back to her usual shell of quietness in the presences of the band.

“I’ll take Dante!”

“Nico’s with me!

“Skars, come sit here.” Everyone had found their partner and then of us were squished side by side. There wasn’t much room for moving, but there was an air for excitement.

“So Alan, you never told me what Extreme Monopoly is.” Kylar pouted quietly. Alan nudged her playfully and set up the board.

“Basically, it’s like the regular game, but when you land on someone’s house, you pay them clothing. Houses are equal to shoes, bracelets, hats, or anything small. Hotels are worth something bigger, like a shirt or pants. The trick is that you have to pay the person, but you want to hold on to as much clothing as possible. So start paying small and save the biggest clothing for later. The trick is that Hotels, you have to give up something big, like your shirt.” Alan explained. Kylar’s face paled and I saw her eyes go wide, staring at the guys here. Alan patted her leg softly.

“Help.” She turned to me and whispered. Dante chuckled. It sounded like he and Aaron were already formulating a plan of attack.

“Don’t worry, Kye. We’re on teams so that one person is the banker, or the one that strips. The other will be the roller.” His eyes gleamed.

“The band is the bankers, so don’t worry.” Austin laughed. Kylar sighed in relief and we instantly started the game.

The teams were Dante and Aaron, Nico and Phil, Tino and Skars, Alan and Kylar, and of course Austin and I were together. The game started off pretty normally. Dante and Aaron took a good lead with getting a monopoly within the first twenty minutes. They started to bank on some houses, but nobody landed on them.

All eyes were set on the far end of the board. It had the most expensive property and the Hotels had the highest price. Nico and Phil wanted it for the humor of watching everybody be frustrated, Tino and Skars wanted it because they just wanted the highest priced property, and Alan just followed like a love struck puppy for whatever Kylar wanted. Dante and Aaron-well they were hard to read.

After an hour of playing, it was getting both frustrating and funny. Dante and Aaron had already gone bankrupt after Tino and Skars got the two biggest Hotels on the most expensive property. Phil was down to his pants, Tino had only his shirt and shorts, Austin was shirtless, and Alan was about to lose his last piece of clothing.

“Please be anything other than a six!” Kylar mumbled over and over as she shook the dice. We had a stash of blankets nearby since it was starting to get a little cold. The fan in the corner hummed happily. I could hear the faint murmur of people outside pass by the buses. A band was jamming out on stage in the distance. Kylar bounced the dice, hearing little clinks on the table.

Of course, it was a six.

“Okay, we’re bankrupt.” Alan grumbled. He hadn’t lost a monopoly game in a while and the ginger was crushed. He took off his board shorts and tossed them to Skars, who was grinning like a fool. Of course, it had been their Hotel Alan landed on. Even the steel horse figurine looked dejected. Passing him a blanket, he put it over Kylar and himself.

“This isn’t enough, but I enjoyed your reaction.” Tino shook his head, but was ecstatic he beat Alan at his best game.

“Better luck next time.” Austin chuckled. Kylar slammed her hand down on the table. Normal, quiet Kylar had been throat punched out the window and was replaced by the Kk I knew.

“WE AIN’T DONE YET!” Kk raged. Alan looked at her with shocked eyes. I resisted smirking. Nico and Dante looked a little scared. In an instant, Kylar took of her tank top and threw it in Skars’ face.

“Woah, okay there.” Phil looked away. Alan ducked his head and blushed like a fool. Of course, leave it up to Kylar to stay in her black sports bra for the rest of the game. I knew her well. She wouldn’t give up on a game this easily. Kk was one of the most competitive people I knew. Crossing her arms, she stared angrily at the board.

“Looks like we’re not out.” Alan said, tucking the blanket lovingly around Kylar. She grinned and leaned on his shoulder. It looked like he hadn’t touched a girl in at least a year and his eyes went wide.

Tino swore lightly and the game resume.

A half hour later, Austin and I had gotten out, and Tino won the game alongside Skars. They seemed like a pretty good team and worked like a well-oiled machine. Alan and Aaron grumbled unhappily about their defeat. Alan didn’t seem too displeased past that because he was sitting next to Kylar. She looked like she was about to fall asleep on his shoulder. Her brown hair was spread out of her shoulder, just obscuring her sleepy eyes.

“So that was pretty extreme.” Dante laughed quietly. We handed back clothing and discussed the highlights of the game, like when Phil got stuck in his own shirt and had to sit through a round trying to pull it off.

Oh, Phil.

“I feel like I could fall asleep.” Kylar yawned. Alan nodded happily.

“Me to!” He attempted to look tired, but it was obvious we could see through his ploy. Kylar threw on her shirt lazily as the door burst open.

“WE BROUGHT PIZZA!” Jack and Alex entered the bus, looking thoroughly pleased with the four boxes of pizza they brought. Both expressions turned shocked as they saw the four new passengers on board.

“I hope we have enough….” Jack muttered to Alex. I waved to both of them as we cleared a spot and sat down around the table. There was literally no room and we stood there, pondering what to do.

“Wha-?” Kylar trailed off as Alan pulled the girl into his lap, wrapping his arms around my best friend’s waist. A new spot for Jack had opened up. Alex sat down as I was hauled into Austin’s lap. The rest of the boys catcalled and I stuck my tongue out. Kylar was just about to fall asleep and didn’t notice the whistles.

“Austin, I didn’t know….” Alex gushed like a teenage girl, just teasing him. Austin hugged me closer and I blushed deeper. Austin rested his chin on my shoulder and pizza was distributed.

“Thanks for the food, guys.” I smiled. Jack winked to me and nodded through a mouthful.

“Okay, now that you’ve accepted our food, we’re ALL PLAYING ANOTHER GAME OF EXTREME WOULD YOU RATHER!” Jack yelled. Tino, Phil, and Aaron were sitting next to me one moment, but had bolted at the name of the game.

I groaned. Last time, this had ended up with something stolen in the middle of the night. Tino was still trying to scrub the last remnants of a mustache I had drawn on a few weeks ago.

Alex turned around to Jack and swatted his arm, arguing that we can’t play Extreme Would You Rather every night. Even if I was forced to play this, I was glad they had at least figured out a proper name for the game.

Jack instantly produced a card deck and dice. Kylar woke up just long enough to learn how to play and decide she wanted to join. I slid off Austin’s lap and picked up the dice.

“Truth.” I sighed.

“Ever kissed anybody?” Alex immediately asked. Oh that boy. I was going to kill him some day.

“Haven’t you asked this question already?” He smirked.

“That’s the question.”

“Fine. Yes.” I grumbled. Austin just looked at me and so did my friends. They had stuck around to play as well and they all stared at me.

“But…” Kylar started sleepily. I passed on the dice before more questions were asked. Austin might pursue this later, but I wasn’t going on for now.

Let’s just forget that night, shall we? I knew that it’s never going to happen between me and him and I’d rather not dwell on it. Kylar just gave me an odd look before getting a truth.

“Truth.” She muttered. Austin looked to Alan, waiting for permission to ask the question. Jack motioned for him to go right ahead.

“Do you like Alan?” He smirked evilly. I punched him in the shoulder. Why would he ask that?!

Oh wait, Alan was blushing redder than a fire truck.

“Yes.” Kylar mumbled. Alan just stared and took the dice before more words were said. It looked to be a very personal round. Of course, the ginger princess got dare.

Of course, Jack and Alex dared him to kiss her.

Do we really need to go into what happened next?

I looked away to give the two privacy, ducking into Austin’s shoulder and beaming. I knew Kylar would send me a flood of texts later on.

Jack and Alex were the love doctors tonight.
