As I sat there with my hands on my lap and my leg moving up and down so fast feeling as if it were in control of itself, I didn't know whether to be upset or excited! It's not everyday someone meets their adoptive parents and brothers. I felt as if I were going to blow some chunks all over the saddest green kitchen floor. I calmed myself down by joking that my throw up would blend with the floor.

"Tere, are you ok?" My mom asked. My mom. Well, my mom who adopted me. She was my mom for the past 17 years, she was all knew. "Oh, uhm, I don't know," she knows me better than anyone, she knows I'm lying, but for the sake of the situation she kept quiet.

"It's really nice to meet you, Teresa!" A guy who mom claims is my brother says and shakes my hand. Does he recognize me? Please don't!!! I must have made a face because he then stared at me for a bit as if he were studying me and there it was. His eyes got big as he took a step back. "Come on Mike, were late for practice!" He says and walks out. "Well, duty calls! Bye sis," Mike says as he begins to walk out. I could see the confusion in his face as if there were a narrowing pointing to his face with 'confused' written all over it.

"It's been a long day, we should go back to the hotel," my mom says. She gets up and puts her hand on my shoulder and my mom...my real mom stands from where she was sitting and says "of course. I know this must be a lot to take it. It was really nice meeting you, Teresa." Her smile looked so familiar and it only took me about 5 minutes to realize, well, hello! I had my real moms smile!
