The Forgotten Fuentes

Repeating Apologies

Vic's POV~

The stranger walked closer to me. "Uh...who are you?" I asked cautiously, unsure why this beanpole of a man was in a garden that's only entrance-well, that I have found at least-was through my home and back yard. "My name is Jack...Jack Barakat, and you are?" he asked politely extending his arm in my direction. I stood and shook his hand. "Victor Fuentes, you can call me Vic," I replied. I'm not sure why, but this Jack guy made me feel instantly calmer than I was upon his interruption.....it was a bit....alarming.
"So how did you find me anyways," I asked, genuinely curious as to how he got into the garden. "I have my ways, but I know what you're thinking. Don't worry, I didn't come through your house or anything," he replied. I nodded, letting it go. "You?"
"I found it a few weeks back and I've started coming here to clear my head," I said, returning to my seat under the tree. "So why are you so angry today?" he asked, sitting unnecessarily close to me. "How do you know that I'm angry?" I asked. "Well, for starters, you nearly took me out with a rock a few minutes ago," he chuckled, picking up another piece of the rock that I'd been throwing earlier and lightly tossed it into the air. "Oh. Sorry about that....but y'know, family problems. My wife and her sister are teaming up against my brother and I can't stand to see him so close to breaking. We had a great little family until my brother cheated on her sister while we were on tour, then my wife found out that the girl he cheated with is pregnant and had to open her big mouth, now we're all in trouble," I said, not really aware that I was unloading all of this to almost a complete stranger. He nodded in understanding, and looked away from me for the first time since we met. It seemed as if the man had been studying me, which was also a bit unnerving.
"It'll sort itself out Vic, don't worry. I need to get going but here is my number, text me if you need someone to talk to about your family stuff or anything," he said, seemingly distracted but handing me a slip of paper then stalking off in the opposite direction. I was confused, but shook it off and decided to go home as well.
I walked through the back yard and up the porch steps on which Tony was perched, smoking a cigarette. Funny, I never thought he'd smoked.
The house was quiet and the only life seemed to be coming from the twins' room, where I could hear Chandler snoring slightly. I went into their room and saw my Alli, sitting in the rocking chair with her head in her hands and her body shaking slightly with silent sobs. I calmly walked over and lovingly embraced my wife. She jumped a bit and looked up at me, revealing her make-up stained face. I wiped the streaks away and kissed her forehead, letting my lips linger on her skin for a few moments. "I'm sorry Vic, I don't know what's wrong with me lately," she whispered, careful not to wake the babies. "It's alright, but I'm not really the one you should be apologizing to," I replied softly. She sighed and nodded, reaching for my hands. I helped her out of the chair and she hugged me tightly, connecting our lips. "I love you Victor," she whispered, smiling as she pulled away. "I love you too Ariella," I replied and led her from the nursery to the kitchen, where my brother was pacing about.
