The Forgotten Fuentes
When All Is Good We Close Our Eyes
That night, Vic's POV~
I just told her the good news last night....should I tell her this? She is gonna know something is wrong, I think she already does. She's gonna think I gave up my job for nothing. Shit, she doesn't even know I quit my job! Oh my God, this is a mess.
Alli walked into my bedroom, and sat down on my bed. "Vic, babe, will you come sit by me for a second?" she asked. I knew she could tell, over these past few months she's gotten to know me so well. She can practically read my mind.
I stopped pacing and nodded. I slowly made my way over to the bed and sat down next to her. "Okay, Viccy, you already know what I'm going to ask you, but I'm going to ask anyways. What is going on?" she asked, grabbing my hands gently and looking at me lovingly. I knew better than to lie to her, she'd know.
I sighed heavily.
"Well, you remember when Tony and Jaime came to talk to me at breakfast?"
She nodded for me to continue.
"Well, apparently the people at the recording studio weren't....real. It was a scam. Thankfully, we had sent the music to six or seven different recording companies all around Cali, so everyone knows it was our music and it has a copyright. Unfortunately, in all the excitement from finding out we'd been signed....I quit my job. And there is no way I can get it back," i paused, letting her take it in. She nodded again, so I continued.
"That wasn't all that Tony and Hime had to say, though. They told me that another recording studio called this morning and wanted to sign us. The only problem is....we'd have to move to L.A... and with me not having a job anymore, I don't know how we'd pay for it..." I finished, and a stray stress tear rolled down my cheek.
She sighed and wiped the tear from my face. "Babe, it's alright. We can use some of the wedding funds to pay for the house. But in the meantime, we need to look into getting you another part-time job, okay?" she asked. I nodded and laid back on the bed. "How did I let this get so bad? I'm sorry Alli, I don't want to have to use the wedding funds," I said, but she shushed me.
"It's alright, it'll be worth it in the long run, plus, I can recycle my mom's wedding dress so that we don't have to pay for a new one. And I have two friends from my old school that run a bakery so we could get the cake for free. Everything will be okay," she assured me. I closed my eyes and she laid next to me.
"I love you Victor, forever," she whispered.
"And a long time," I whispered back, then drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
