Shattered

I Said I'd Never Let You Go and I Never Did

Five years later….

“Aus, stop it! You know that tickles!” I playfully pulled at the arms that wrapped around my shoulders as his lips attacked my cheeks, jaw, and nose with kisses. I caught his face and gave him a quick peck on the lips to soothe him.

“Aww.” Austin pouted. Alan, Aaron, and Tino were all sitting around us in the living room. The boy I was sitting with had been fidgeting all morning, like he was being forced to sit on pins and needles.

“If you two get any cuter, I’m going to puke.” Tino grumbled. Austin abruptly stood up, taking it as a challenge. He took my hand and pulled me to the middle of the living room. The three boys looked up. Tino and Phil set down their reading materials and Alan looked up from the bouncy ball he played with.

“Challenge accepted.” Austin laughed. I poked him in the chest, but he caught my wrist and held my hands.

“Kynder….”

“Austin….” I responded. Now, I had known Austin for about five years. I’d never seen him this nervous. It’s like his hands were trembling as if the earth was violently shaking. Was there supposed to be an earthquake soon?

“Kynder, you’ve been with me for five years and together we’ve survived thick and thin.” Aus started out. I looked up into his soft eyes. The other three boys were silent. I waited for him to go on, wondering what all this was going to lead to. The afternoon sun brushed behind a cloud, briefly dimming the room.

“I nearly lost you due to my own stupidity, and I almost lost you to Miles and Nicco. You’re a strong, beautiful, intelligent girl and you know I’ll love you forever, right?” He asked me. I nodded because he seemed to tell me this every night. He removed his right hand from mine and reached into his back pocket.

Now really, what was he doing?

“Kynder Syre, you’re the most wonderful thing that’s ever happened to me. I can’t imagine going on through life without you….” Austin started. He moved his hand back. I tore my eyes away from his stare, but now both hands were covering the mysterious object.

Alan, Aaron, and Tino let out a strangled gasp together. I think Alan was shaking in excitement.

Could someone please tell me what was this…..wait….wait…was he….was he really….?

Austin Carlile stooped down to one knee in front of our friends, the silence hanging heavy in the air of anticipation. He held the box in his left hand and opened the black lid in his right. The soft velvet seemed to whisper secrets of a forever love.

“Kynder, would you do me the incredible honor of marrying me?”

“YES!” I responded without a single hesitation. As Austin slid the ring on my right ring finger, I felt the happiness well up in my eyes. It was a simple silver band with a diamond in the middle surrounded by small bits of sapphire. It sparkled brightly in the light. Alan screamed like a fangirl seeing her favorite band in concert for the first time. Aaron, the sensitive man of the group, started bawling like there was no tomorrow. Tino covered his face with both hands.

In a single motion, Austin stood up and swept me into his arms, placing his lips on top of mine. The love of my life had just asked me to be his forever! How much better could this day get? Around our little piece of paradise, the trio started making plans.

“I’ll get the cake!” Tino called and scurried to find his laptop and search up wedding cakes.

“I’m calling the guests!” Aaron made a mad dash for his phone.

“I’m…I’m….I’m….” Alan trailed off, thinking for a moment. Suddenly, a light bulb burst in his head.

“I’M DECORATING THE VENUE!” He screamed and ran to his room, leaving us two alone. I hugged Austin like there was no tomorrow and couldn’t stop smiling.

“Now I get to live with these dorks forever.” I laughed. It wasn’t a bad deal. In fact, it was perfect. I had found my family and my husband. Now I can live with Alan and his Golf Club, although I’m sure he’ll get a girlfriend-eventually. Now I can help Tino in his garden as long as he’s a gardener. Now I can joke around with Aaron and talk about anything and everything for ages. Now I can wake up in Austin’s arms every morning.

For the first time in my life, I had found my definition of perfect.

Notes

THIS IS THE LAST OFFICIAL CHAPTER! I'll have an epilogue to give you a little bit of what happened afterwards, but this is the end for now. :(

The end.

End.

I love you guys so much and it's because of your comments that I kept going. I loved all the happiness, sadness, and anger you all felt because that meant you CONNECTED with the story, and that was my ultimate goal. Really, I enjoyed talk to all of you and being able to get to hear what you thought of the little novel.

So, in the end, this story is dedicated to YOU, the amazing reader that pushed me forward through the tough days and the rough roads. These words were written for YOU so that it could bring a smile to your face, whether it was the parts with Bob the Golf Club, fluffy stuff with Kyn and Austin, or the Balz puns that made you grin and laugh. Without YOU(Yes, the one staring at the screen right now) I couldn't have continued on to write and continued to develop characters. It wasn't me that put the book on the popular list, it was everyone who read this story.

Some people told me that they stayed up all night reading it, crying and laughing with the highs and lows. Thank you for your dedication! Some one told me that this story is the one thing they look forward to each day. Thank you for your perseverance through the day! Some one recently asked if they could write down the stories in a journal. Thank you for thinking so highly of a story line I honestly thought would be horrible! Just a big thank you to everyone who commented! It was fun to laugh and sob along side you!

Thank you, everyone, also for reading this really long dedication!! XD

A writer can only do so much, but in the end, it's the reader that really takes the story to where it ends up. I will only stop writing when you stop reading, so I hope that's not anytime soon!

Thank you, my lovely people. I love you all, and don't be afraid to message me at anytime for any reason. Also feel free to check out the rest of the stories. Be on the look out for a new title coming soon. I sure hope you stick around and read it!

With great sadness at such an end, I sign off.

With much love,
Chaos'sWolf
