Failing Lights

"What were you saying earlier about Vic and Scarlett?" Jaime asked me back in the bunks. WE had been on the road for about two hours now. Scarlett had gotten suckered into watching Star Wars with Tony and Vic was probably hanging out with the driver to avoid Scarlett.

"That's right. Ugh how do I put this..." I trailed off.

"Dude just say it. I don't want to keep waiting to hear this." He was right. I have tried to tell Jaime like five times now but every single time Scarlett or Vic walked in and there was no way in hell I was saying anything about their past because I'm pretty sure both of them blocked it out.

"Scar and Vic were lovers. He never asked her out. He was about to but I don't know what happened man, I went with him to go pick out the perfect flowers and when I came back home from my friend's house the day Vic was supposed to ask her, the flowers were in the trash and he was sitting there balling his eyes out with Amber Carlson." I sighed.

"Amber Carlson?" He whispered. We heard Scar say that she needed to grab something from her bag.

"We called her Ambitch. She tormented Scar and Vic for a while." I whispered quickly into Jaime's ear.

"Ahem. What the hell where you two talking about?" Scar asked, arms folded impatiently.

"Nothing at all." Jaime immediately answered, his panic totally evident on his face.

"Okay I'm going to pretend like this didn't happen, because you two are acting weird." She pushed past us and grabbed candy out of her bag.

"Why do you have candy in your purse?" I asked trying to make the awkwardness in the air disappear.

"What good is it to have a giant purse and not have candy in it?" She laughed and walked back to Tony.

We watched her leave. "He loved her. I could see it. I think a part of both of them both love each other but they have burried all thoughts like that deep down. Vic with his random one night stands and Scar with slit wrists." I finished.

"So what's the plan Mike? How are we going to get Scarlett and Vic together like they should've been?" Jaime asked.

"You know me well. We need to get Scar to talk about what Vic did to her and Vic to remember everything." I came up with.

"Which one first?" He asked

"Honestly I don't know. Just get Scar to trust you. It will be hard but she's really genuine and sweet once she really opens up to you." Sigh.

"What are we going to do about Vic?" He asked, his eyes intensely staring into mine.

"What about me?" Oh crap.
