Run Away Dad

Tonight's the football game, it'll be the first one since last season that I've brung Zeke. My friend Summer comes over to help get us ready. She's Jack's youngest sister and my best friend, beside Parker.

"God, he looks so much like his father," she says.

"I know, he doesn't look anything like me," I say chuckling.

"Except your dark hair, Jack has blonde hair." She says and I nod. "Ready to change, Monkey?" She asks Zeke and I laugh. We put Zeke in jeans, vans, and a flannel shirt. We pack in a draw string bag three cars, two diapers and a few snacks. We strap him into his car seat and drive on out. "You know about Jack right?" She says. I just nod.

"Found out Tuesday." She sighs.

"I didn't know till yesterday," she says, "he doesn't deserve how nice you've been. Not saying it was rape, he got off so much more with a battery and statchatory charge."

"I was 8 months pregnant, I didn't want him to be in jail for twenty years, just enough so I could move on." I say quietly, she gives my hand reassuring squeeze. We pull into the parking lot and I get Zeke out. I carry him to the stands where my friends are. "Watch the language and smoke baby here," I say as James and Josh take Zeke out of my hands. They walk up and get our seats and I go to see Park.

"Hey beautiful," he says and pulls me into a kiss. "Your mom watching Zeke tonight?"

"Nope, Josh and James took him to our seats." I say and he laughs. Coach call him over and he gives me a strong kiss before leaving to go warm up. When I walk up to our seats I talk to Summer and James, while Josh is playing with Zeke.

"Come on Parker! Run! Woo!!" I shout with Zeke in my arms. He did it, Park scored the winning touch down. We all cheer and make our way down the bleachers. I'm talking to Summer and I'm stopped in my tracks. I see Caroline, the head cheerleader kissing Parker. I choke back a sob and hold Zeke tighter. I turn around and head to Summer's car with her on my heals after I put Zeke in, Josh and James come over to the car. I hug them both, I cling on to James and tell him what happened.

"Come on let's go to your house okay?" He says and I nod. When we pull up in our two cars, there's an unfamiliar car in the driveway

"Who's that Ron?" Josh asks.

"Don't know, come on let's go in." I walk in and see someone I never thought I'd see again.

"Ronnie?"

"Dad?" I say as I look Mike Fuentes right in the eye.
