Second Chances Won't Leave Her Alone

Maybe I'll pretend right now

Bailee jerked awake in her sleep and sat bolt upright with a feeling of despair, having relived those moments in her dreams more times than she could count. She looked over at her alarm clock. “Oh crap, its 5am” she thought aloud, knowing all too well that she would not be able to get back to sleep now. ‘Looks like it’s going to be an early start today.’ She trudged lazily down the hallway of her small apartment and into the kitchenette to make herself a coffee. She wasn’t a breakfast person, plus it was way too early to consume anything other than some strong coffee.

She sat down the stool next to the bench. She had no need for a table or multiple chairs, as she was never accompanied. That was just the way she liked it. Bailee looked around her quaint apartment at the mess she had neglected to clean for the past couple weeks, making a mental note to clean up after work, that she knew she would ‘forget’ later. She sipped lightly on her coffee and turned on the radio. Gazing out the window thinking about nothing in particular, she was barely listening to the mumbled voices of the radio presenters. But when she heard his voice, she bolted to her feet and turned the radio all the way up, listening intently.
“That’s right! We will be touring all over the country as soon as we record our new album, we’re so excited to share it with you all!”
‘Ugh’ Bailee thought, ‘that voice, he’s just so perfect. He was so perfect.’ She began gazing out the window again, lost in reminiscence of her teenage years spent with Vic Fuentes.

Her thoughts were again interrupted as she heard that oh too perfect voice again; “yes, that’s right. We’re going to begin recording next week in Long Island, New York. We fly out on Monday and couldn’t be more excited!”

“NO” Bailee exclaimed aloud, “this can not happen, no! They can’t come here! What if I see him on the street? Oh fuck.” Bailee spent the next few hours contemplating what would happen if she did run into Vic on the streets somewhere. Would he even recognize her? She’d changed so much. More importantly, how would she avoid him??
