One Hundred And One Sleepless Nights

It's raining. We're in Vegas and it's raining. I don't think it's rained here since Noah came to gather up two of every animal. We're all sat in the sitting room. There was a fight for the couches. Again I ended up on the floor. Everyone is so annoyed that we've resorted to drinking the remainder of the drinks Leah and Charlie snuck in.
My phone started ringing and I looked down. It was Vic. I could see Polly watching me closely. I stood up and looked around the room. "Just this guy that has been after me. Ugh guys." I went on. I only said that for Sophie's benefit. "Hey you." I answered.
"Zee?" Vic asked.
"You just keep ringing." I laughed.
"Are you drunk?" Vic asked.
"No, you are." I giggled.
"Right... Alex wanted to say hello and that she misses her mama." he told me.
"Okay," I said. I heard some shuffling before I heard someone breathing down the phone. "You okay, baby?" I asked.
"Daddy has been doing lots of silly stuff. We went to see Mike and they showed me a tv show where these men were running around with guns and then Mike showed me his gun but it wasn't real and Daddy's been giving me lots of cake." Alex rambled.
"Have you been having other stuff too?" I asked.
"Lots and lots of burritos."
"Have you been having fun?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"Do you miss me?"
"Lots! Daddy won't read my the dog story, he just sings. I don't want songs, I want stories."
"Let me talk, I'll tell him." I said.
"Okay, bye Mommy!"
"Bye Darling." I smiled.
"Okay?" Vic asked.
"Read, no more songs." I teased.
"She grassed me up." he said playfully.
"No secrets," I laughed. I looked and saw Polly was glaring. "Got to go." I told him.
"Okay, have fun, Zee." Vic said. I hung up and sat back down.
"Who was that?" Kate asked.
"Just a guy I met on New Years." I wish.
"Who did you meet?" Jemma asked.
"Ryan!" I blurted. I don't even know a Ryan.
We fell into a uncomfortable silence. Jemma was tutting. Kate was fiddling. I was pouting. Polly was squaking. Leah was laughing. Fuck you Leah.
"Can you just apologise, Zee, Polly? So the atmosphere can be nice again." Jemma begged.
"I'm sorry, Zandra." Polly eventually said.
"Me too." I mumbled.
"Great!" Sophie exclaimed. "It must be super awkward to be sat in the same room as two of your fiancée's ex's." she added. Ugh.
"What do you mean?" Polly asked. For God's sake, did Vic tell her nothing?
"Um... You tell her." Laura urged Jess.
"Leah went out with Vic. Before Zee did, I mean." Jess said awkwardly.
"Yeah, but not for long." Leah rushed.
"It was a while." Sophie interrupted.
"But it wasn't serious."
"No, it was." Sophie disagreed.
"He didn't love me or anything though." Leah put in.
"No, he cheated on you with Zee."
"Shut up, Sophie!" I snapped.
"I'm just saying." she rolled her eyes. Why didn't we kill her?

Home sweet home. On the way back we thought tactically. The night before we kept Sophie up until three a.m. and forced a mixture of whiskey, rum and absinthe down her throat. She was way too hung over on the journey to even open her eyes, never mind speak.
I went into my apartment and collapsed down onto the couch in my sitting room. Polly still didn't speak much on the way back. I'm not convinced she's sorry. I should take Vivian up on her offer. I heard someone knock and went to the door. I opened it and Alex jumped up to me. I pulled her close to me and kissed her cheek. I grinned as she nestled her head into my chest.
"Hey." I said warmly to Vic. He didn't reply. He just waited until Alex had ran to her room and he pushed her bag forcefully on me while he glared. "What's wrong with you?" I asked.
"What have you said to Polly?!" he demanded.
"Oh." I muttered.
"Yeah, oh." he snarled.
"I may have told her you proposed to me." I said guiltily.
"Fucking hell!" he exclaimed. "Why are you doing this to me?!"
"Mommy!" Alex yelled. I looked and saw her running to us. "Why are you fighting?" she pouted. She looked into my eyes and frowned. "Daddy, why is Mommy crying?" Alex asked. I sighed and wiped my eyes. When did I start crying?
"It's nothing, sweetheart. My eyes are just leaking." I forced a smile.
"Okay." Alex grinned and ran off again.
"Why are you so hostile to Polly?" Vic asked angrily. "Just because you don't want me doesn't mean someone else doesn't!"
"You think I don't want you." I laughed humourlessly.
"You don't." Vic frowned.
"Are you fucking stupid?" I shook my head. "You know how I feel. It's not going to change."
"Stop," Vic said desperately. "Please Zee. I just... I need to go." he sighed. I bit down onto my lip and watched him hurry out of my apartment. Stop? I wish I could.
