Fight By My Side
Summary
Some are born with the Gift: the ability to Shapeshift into a different animal. Whether they change into a raven, leopard, bear, or pit bull, they all have one thing in common. That is that their kind are hunted by the Guardians, a form of super-humans. They specialize in the destruction of those with the Gift.
Wynter is one with the Gift, born into the form of a gorgeous silver-black wolf. Her family was hunted down and slaughtered after they attempted to shelter her from the Guardians. Now she secretly runs a home for those who are hunted as prey. They come to her to know they aren't alone, to know they have safety. They may not be able to fight off society, but they can take refuge here.
It all changes when a Usual, a normal boy, named Austin shows up with a scraggly ginger cat at her home for those with the Gift. Will this intruder be the downfall of them all, or the start of a new revolution?
Characters
Aaron Wild
Leader of the Rogue Shifters, he was corrupted long ago and sews chaos in society. Ten years ago, Aaron was the reason why the Guardians were created, after he and his followers slaughtered masses to show their dominance over Usual people. He takes the form of a Jaguar
Alan Ashby
Alan is friends with Austin Carlile and soon becomes good friends with Wynter. He is a joker and likes to play around, but when it comes to danger, he is serious. Alan has no one in his family who has the Gift, other than he. His older brother is a Guardian, and his sister was killed by a Shapeshifter.
Alex Gaskarth
Alex is a former Guardian who discovered he had the Gift. He was hunted down and shot. Wynter found him and took him in. He roams around, but often stops by her place. His form is a Mountain Lion.
Austin Carlile
Austin Carlile was born into a family of all Usual people. None have the Gift or are Guardians and this has kept his family safe for sometime. He stumbles across Wynter one day after he finds an ginger cat. His best friend is Alan Ashby, but soon becomes close to Wynter
Jack Barakat
Jack is partners with Alex. He instantly forms a bond with Alex since both of their forms are Mountains Lions. Jack never leave's Alex's side, ever since Alex found him on the side of the road, being attacked by Guardians.
Kellin Quinn
Kellin was taken by the Guardians, but escaped. He found shelter at Wynter's place and has formed a brotherly bond to her. His form is the Horse.
Mike Fuentes
Mike is the younger brother to Vic. They both ran away from home after their parents found out they were Shifters. Mike often likes to tease Vic. His form is a Hawk.
Ronnie Radke
Ronnie came to Shadow's Sanctuary injured, but now wanders freely. He says he has an addiction to danger, wanting to dive straight into the midst of peril. Although he doesn't visit the Sanctuary often, he is the eyes in the sky, watching out for danger and possible Shifters for Wynter.
Vic Fuentes
Vic is a refugee with his younger brother Mike. Both are Shapeshifters and have run away from home. They take shelter in Wynter's safe house and are permanent residents. Vic can shift into the form of a Tiger.
Wyland Ashby
Wyland Ashby is Alan's older brother. After he witnessed his sister being killed by a Rogue Shapeshifter, he joined the program and became a Guardian, vowing to hunt down the beast that killed his sister. He has no clue what his brother is, but is very friendly to Alan.
Wynter Ryland
Wynter Ryland was born from two Gifted parents. Her mother was an eagle, and her father was a bear. They both died after an attack from Guardians. Wynter managed to escape and now provides shelter for other Shapeshifters on the run. She soon meets Austin and Alan, becoming very close friends. She has the form of a Wolf.
