The Letter
Dear Austin Carlile,
I fully understand you are very popular, so I first want to thank you for reading my letter. Your music is amazing and such an inspiration to me. I love the songs you perform and your always fun-having attitude! That fact that you’re always open to interacting with your fans is very thoughtful and kind of you. I can only read about other fans’ experiences meeting you and how much of an impact you’ve been to them.
I might just be another fan in the crowd, but I would love to meet you some day. You've given me strength when I've been through tough times, even though we've never met. I heard that in 2012 you underwent heart surgery, and although I’ve never been through that experience, I can sympathize with you. Recently I found out my mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She’s gone through surgeries that have hopefully taken all of it out and reduced any chance that it will ever come back. She’s still recovering from the recent procedure, and it’s affected more than just her. I love her to death; she’s the rock in my life, but I felt like half my heart is torn out some days. Each time I felt like that I’d turn on some OM&M songs and let it all bleed away. You've saved me many days from totally mental breakdown, but it still hurts other days.
With all this news, I feel like every day is a Second and Sebring day with baby scars all over the place.
Austin, you’ve been someone I’ve looked up to ever since I listened to your music so long ago. All I’d like to ask for, if it is no trouble at all, is just a letter back with some words of encouragement. Honestly, I’ve never had a pen-pal before, and I’d absolutely love it if we could talk sometime! I understand if you are too busy and cannot meet this because you’re on tour all the time and I feel lucky just being able for you to read this letter! You and the rest of the band (plus Squidgy!) seem like just caring, great people. I’d love to talk (or hopefully meet!) with you guys sometime because you just seem like an amazing crowd to be around.
I can’t tell me how much your music has gotten me through a rainy day. I can't wait for August 3rd, when you get to come to Warped Tour in my home state! It would be an honor meeting my heroes for the first time. Thank you for reading my letter and creating amazing music!

This story has completely captured my full attention over the last few hours. I don't think I'll be able to sleep until I finish it. This is wonderful. I adore your writing and characters. Rae and Austin's relationship and the bond between Alan and lp are the most adorable freaking things ever. I've been laughing, wanting to cry, and majorly fangirling. This is beautiful and I love it so much. And the appearance of all of the various band members made me incredibly happy!
Okay back to reading.
