Dear Austin...

The next morning gave me a headache, a pounding one at that. We were some of the last to wake up, with LP up early on Monday morning. We stumbled out of bed and into the kitchen after the long night of the initiation. I must have fallen asleep in the car since I didn't remember getting going back down to the basement to sleep.

"Morning, boys." My mom smiled. Austin and Alan smiled. Handing each of us a plate with left over pancakes on it, she leaned on the counter and held up a piece of paper. Three forks hovered in the air.

"So how was your initiation last night?" She asked warily. Setting down the fork, I waited to see how she would take it. I just hoped that since dad was gone she would be very flexible.

"Oh um..." Alan started, scratching the back of his neck. All that could be heard through the heavy silence in the room was the faint sounds of laughter from my sister giggling at the cartoons on the TV in the other room.

"Did you do drugs?"

"No."

"Steal anything or break any laws?"

"No and no."

"Did anyone die?"

"Nope!" We all answered together. She didn't smile but shook her head with a smirk that quickly dissolved.

"Well then I don't want to know. Let's just leave it at that." We all agreed to her terms. As she walked out of the room, a loud sigh we let out could have shaken the house. After swallowing his breakfast whole, Alan booked it out of the room to spend time with my sister. I stared at Austin after rubbing my sleepy eyes.

"What shall we do today?" He questioned. Thinking for a moment, I then knew the answer.

"We should go to Mirkwood." I teased him. The expression in his eyes said that I was crazy. A protest formed on his lips but I silenced it with an explanation.

"Let me show you." I explained. Within a few minutes, we were walking down the driveway and into my own personal Mirkwood.
