Something Else

What A Catch, Donnie

"How long did you and Cam wait until you two started having sex?" I questioned curiously, lying upside down on Nicole's bed. There was a bowl of grapes beside me and Nicole was sitting right side up flipping through the newest issue of Vogue magazine with a glass of white wine in her hands.

"Um, after like a month or something. Maybe a little longer. Why?" She looked over at me then smirked. I stayed silent and just continued to lie upside down. "Oh my god, you and Mike boned didn't you?"

"Possibly." I said keenly, sitting up and then plopping another grape inside my mouth.

"When?!" She exclaimed, hitting me on my arm and her blue eyes ready to bulge out of her head.

"The night of the dinner. When we got back to my place." I explained as I eyed her.

"And you are just now telling me?! That was like a week ago!" Nicole's attention fully on me now, eager for details. I was never really open with my sex life. I guess since my last sex life was so boring, I would always complain to Nic about it and now that there was a chance that it wasn't, she was interested.

"Do you really wanna know?" I rolled my eyes at her.

"Okay, if you don't wanna spill then just please tell me that he is bigger and better than Steven's stupid ass..." She trailed off. I wanted to laugh out loud at how girls seem to do this. We always wanted to know about our friends' sex lives, I never knew why, it was just ingrained in each of us I guess. The imaginary details that we can put to it. I never said a word, I just nodded then a smile grew on my lips, pulling on each end. Her eyes grew and her mouth opened into a grin. She giggled and all she said was, "Damn Bonnie, get it girl."

We both looked at one another and laughed. I knew she felt bad for me when I was with Steven. Not just about the lack of satisfaction, but the lack of everything. The lack of happiness, love, and fulfillment that was there. I knew she could see that I was the opposite of what I was feeling then, now. I was happy, I was satisfied.

"I like you two together. You guys seem to fit each other. And, I like seeing that he makes you happy. He's seemed to make you happy since you two met." Nicole muttered out of nowhere, her eyes glued to a page in her magazine. She didn't look at me once when she spoke, just down at the magazine. I looked over to her and smiled softly, knowing well enough that she was behind me. She always had my back. After all, she's my best friend. Even when I make giant mistakes, she has my back.

I was pretty busy today. I had been driving around town all day to shops and brands putting in orders for Spring. It was always a good idea to do this in order to get your items in a timely matter. And since Christmas was just less than a month away, it was already a hectic time in the fashion buying world. I had huge orders to send in from a ton of companies and brands, so today was the day I would do it. Once I had gone inside, placed my order, then left one of the final stores on my list, I got back into my car and took a deep breath. The clock read 4:15 and I had fifteen minutes to get to my last store and put in my order. I hurriedly put on my seatbelt and then backed out before taking off and heading out.

As I was driving, my phone rang over the Bluetooth on my phone and it was Nicole. "Yeah?" I greeted kind of rudely, not meaning to do so.

"I just fucking finished my list, dude. I'm exhausted. Johnnie over at Perry's, that small boutique on Melrose, was being a little dick about my order. I'm so irritated. How's yours going?" She asked, out of breath. I could tell she was driving, too.

"I'm heading out to UNIF right now, and then I'm done. I had someone like that Johnnie guy being a dick to me earlier, too. I didn't have time for it, so I just placed my order and left. I was like, 'I have a million things to do so when you decide to stop being a loser, then you can call me when my stuff is in.' then I left."

She chuckled loudly, "At least your last stop is with cool people. Everyone at UNIF is chill."

"I know, what a relief after the day I've had."

"What are you doing tonight?" She questioned, softly.

"Mmm, I don't know yet. Mike wanted to do something but he wasn't sure because he's been holed up at the studio all day." I pulled up to the shop and parked. "Hey, I'll call you back in twenty minutes, I just got here."

"Alright, bye." She said before hanging up. I got my bag, my papers, then got out of my car and walked inside of the UNIF HQ.

"Miss Bonnie, what's up?" The owners and CEOs, Eric and Christine shouted from behind a counter. Eric was on a ladder, fixing something.

I grinned, pushed my round sunglasses up to my head, "Hey guys, how are you?" I walked to Christine.

"Doing good, trying to get this baby to grow."

"Well, you're doing a good job on that babydoll. I came to just place my order." I handed her the papers I had in my hand and she took them looking over it.

"Spring?" She asked, grabbing her MacBook and sliding it over to where she could see it.

"Yes mama, for Dollskill." She typed a little bit, looking back and forth from the paper to the computer and then back again.

"Alright Bons, I got you babydoll. I'll you and let you know when everything is set so you can come pick it up." She said with a smile and handed me a paper hot off the printer, confirming the order I just placed.

"Thank you, my love. I'll see you and Eric around, alright?" I smiled, adjusting the purse that was hanging on my shoulder. "Hey, are you going to the Jeffrey Campbell party on Friday?" I asked before I walked out of the front doors.

Eric nodded, now on the ground. "Yeah, are you?"

I nodded, "Nicole and Cam are going, and I think I'm gonna take my boyfriend if he wants to go."

"Ooh, Bonnie's got herself a boyfriend. You better bring him. I gotta meet the fellow." Christine smirked, "Oh wait! I got some new shit for you, Nic, Cam, and your man, too. Oh, and I have those Hellraisers that you have been wanting." She ran to the back real quick and then told me to go back there with her. There was boxes and boxes, racks and racks, with clothes all over it. She told me to pick out something for myself and Nicole. And then something for Cam and Mike. Once I had chosen the items, she neatly folded them and then placed them into a black paper bag that said UNIF on it in white letters along with it's logo. "We'll see you Friday, Bons!" Eric shouted as he waved at me.

"Bye, guys!" I grinned walking out of the black doors and walking to my car. I drove to my house then went on to call Nicole to come over and get her freebies. I loved working in fashion and this reason was one of the reasons.

Nicole and Cam walked in once I had opened the door for them with pizza and beer in their hands. I grabbed the bag from my room and brought it downstairs so I could show them their stuff. I sat on the floor and took out the stuff that I picked out. Cam loved the tees that I picked for him, and Nicole the same. "Christine asked me if you still wanted those Hellbounds? Because if you do, then just stop by sometime this week. If not, she can give them to you at the JC party on Friday."

Nicole nodded, holding up her shirts. "Yeah, JC party is probably best. My schedule is filled the rest of this week."

My doorbell rang and I hurried to open in. Mike was standing there with a wide smile, "Hey babygirl."

He greeted me with a kiss. "Hey darling, Cam and Nic are in the living room." I shut the front door. "Hey! I got some stuff for you from UNIF today." I followed him into the living room as he gave Nic a hug, and Cam a handshake that led to both of their backs being slapped. I returned to my place on the floor and then reached into the bag as Mike grabbed a slice of pizza and stuffed it into his mouth. "So, I got you mostly sleeveless tees since apparently sleeves aren't your thing." I said making all of them laugh.

I grabbed his stuff and then showed it to him, waiting for him to wipe his hands off of a napkin before touching his new shirts. "These are cool as fuck! I love UNIF. Thanks, Bon. I didn't know you work with them?" He looked over to me.

I nodded, "Yeah. They were one of the first brands to have me work for them, actually. I get their stuff and then sell it to other buyers such as Dollskill and other boutiques so they could sell UNIF also. And I get freebies every time they have new stuff out."

"Damn, I lucked out dating you, huh?" He joked making Cam laugh and they high-fived. Since Nicole and I both sold for UNIF.

"Y'all are stupid as fuck." Nicole said, laughing along with them making me laugh.

"Hey Mike, you going to the Jeffrey Cambell party with us on Friday?" Cam questioned Mike as he sipped on a beer.

He looked over to me confused, "I was gonna ask him if he wanted to go, tonight actually." I explained and he nodded.

"What happens at a Jeffrey Campbell party?" Mike asked, looking at his new cutoff tees he got.

"Booze, shoes, food. It's basically a huge company party." Nicole explained.

"Seems cool." Mike shrugged, nodding his head.

"Wanna go?" I asked with hopeful eyes.

Mike grinned widely, "Sure. I'm in."

I caught his attention for a moment and smiled over at him. His brown eyes met mine momentarily, matching my smile. Those eyes looked really tired, like he hadn't slept in days. But regardless of that, he still had such high energy and that smile on his face. I can only imagine what it's like to work for 12-14 hours straight and then sleep to wake up and do it all over again. That's why whenever he came over and it was us two, I just let him sleep if he wanted too.

We sat there drinking for a couple more hours before Nicole and Cam left back home. Mike and I groggily went up the stairs. He stripped himself down to his boxers as he was telling me what went on in the studio today, that smile still present. I sat in my bed, watching his lips move carefully and the way his eyes averted in excitement over the progress of their new album. He got under my covers and took a deep breath, "Man, I can't wait until the album comes out. This is gonna be a huge step for us; a game changer. I can't wait to play these live and see the fans go insane. That's the best part, the reaction."

I turned over to my side so I could watch him talk and admire the simple fact that he was living his childhood dream out, right in this very moment. That's something that's super cool to think about. "That's gotta be the best feeling in the world, huh?"

He nodded his head twice, "Oh yeah." He smirked, adding a bite to his bottom lip for a second. "Bonnie, you gotta see it when we start playing shows again. You have to see the reaction. It's so crazy. Promise me you'll be at our first show back?" He looked over to me with the wildest hope in his eyes. They shined brighter than usual.

"I cross my heart and hope to die." I answered softly and with a genuine smile. "I'll be there, babydoll."

"Good. Because if you're not, I'm dumping you." He said, both of us laughing hysterically at the same time.

I chuckled a little more, placing my hands on his face looking into his sleepy eyes deeply, "I promise that I will be there. Just tell me where and when." I kissed him on his nose, then on his lips leading him to smile widely. "Now go to sleep, we both have long days tomorrow." He nodded, kissing me back then we turned off the lights and doze off to sleep.

I stepped inside of my dad's office the following afternoon, and his partners all waved over to me. Steven eyed me slyly from his oak desk. He wasn't big enough to have an actual office, he was still small time. I walked up to his desk since he seemed to be the only one not on the phone. "Is my dad here?" I questioned as I kept grip on the hot coffee cup that was in my hands and adjusted the strap to the bag hanging on my arm.

"Well, hello to you too Bonnie." He raised an eyebrow as he looked at me. "Your new boyfriend seems pretty...uh interesting." He sneered and shot me a fake smile.

I rolled my eyes, "Look, is my dad here or not? I don't have all day."

He rolled his blue eyes right back at me and pointed to the office behind him. "He might still be with a client. Shades are down."

I scoffed, "Great." I went and sat on one of the nearby chairs as I waited for the client to walk out, and luckily within ten minutes, she did. I smiled sweetly at her as I passed her and waltzed right into my dad's office, shutting the door behind me.

"What a lovely surprise, sweetheart! What brings you here?" My dad greeted from behind his desk as he got up and gave me a tight hug.

"I don't know, mom said you wanted to talk to me or something?" I sat on one of the client chairs and sipped on my coffee.

"Oh yes, it's about Thanksgiving. Your mom and I are undecided on whether to be here for Thanksgiving or leave on vacation."

"I'm busy with work so count me out on vacations. What are the plans for Thanksgiving?"

"Well, I'm not sure yet. What is your new boyfriend doing?"

I eyed my father, "He's going home to San Diego to have it with his family. He's in a band, he's usually touring on Thanksgiving so this is one of the only days he has with them. Why?"

"Just asking. If we go on vacation, what will you do?" That questioned echoed me. I didn't have much family around that was left. I had my aunt that lived here in Beverly Hills, but I usually spent my holidays with Nicole and Cam.

"What I did last year, made dinner and hung out with Nicole and Cam. Third wheeling is what I do best, pops." I answered, shrugging my shoulders. He laughed at how I didn't see things, anything really, as a big deal.

"Okay. I'll let you know by Friday afternoon if we end up leaving or not. Is that okay?"

I nodded, "Sure. As long as it's not Friday night. Jeffrey Campbell is having a huge party and Nic, Cam, Mike, and I are gonna be there."

My dad straightened out some papers in his hand before placing them in his 'Out' box. His suit was perfectly tailored and wrinkle free. He cleared his throat, "I never got a chance to tell you that I like your boyfriend. He seems to make you smile a lot and I'm all for that." He smiled over at me softly.

"He does make me smile a lot. Mike makes me very happy, dad." I think saying that validated it for him. He was super protective of me yet all he wanted was for my guy to make me happy. We talked for a moment and then I go up to leave, but before I walked out of his office I mentioned half-jokingly, "You gotta fire that loser, Steven." My dad laughed and I shot him and wink then left him behind.
