My World is You

When we pulled into our driveway Vic looked at me and smiled. We walked in the house and I sat down on the couch.
“You’re coming to the New Year’s Eve concert right?” He asked sitting next to me.
I nodded “So is June and the girls.” I said
He smiled and looked at me.
“What?” I asked
“I got you another present.” He said
“What? No Vic this is so much.” I said playing with my ring
“I got it anyways.” He said
I nodded and he kissed my forehead and walked into the kitchen.
“Close your eyes.” He said
I closed my eyes and I heard his footsteps and then I felt something in my arms.
“Open.” He said
I opened my eyes and looked down, it was a smallish but not really Saint Bernard puppy.
“Awh.” I said
“He’s house trained and he’s all ours and he just needs a name.” He said
“How about Sam?” I asked
“I think Sam works.” He said
I smiled and he kissed my nose.
I looked down at the fluffy puppy.
“Now I won’t be so alone when you leave again.” I said
“It’s only a month and seventeen days.” He said
I nodded and set Sam down on the floor and Vic sat next to me.
“So Papa talked to me about some stuff.” He said
“Like what?” I asked
“Well he said we need to pick a date.” He said
“Do you want to do it this upcoming year or next year?” I asked
“This upcoming year, I don’t want to wait too long to call you my wife.” He said
I smiled. “How about July?” I asked
“That could work.” He said
“I’ll be right back.” I said
He nodded and I got up and walked into the kitchen, I grabbed an expo marker and wrote on the refrigerator.
I wrote: Wedding, July twenty-first.
I capped the marker and walked back into the living room where Vic was dancing in his seat.
“Babe?” I asked
“Sorry there’s music going through my head. What did you do?” He asked
“I wrote on the fridge.” I said
“What date did you pick?” He asked
“Twenty first.” I said
He smiled and patted the couch next to me.
“Two days until I leave for New York.” He said
“I know.” I sighed
“It will fly bye babe, and Sam will help with that.” I said
I nodded, and he cupped my chin and kissed me. I kissed back and he laid me down onto the couch.
“Not to sound weird but not in front of Sam.” I said
“Are we going to start that?” He asked
“He’s my baby now Vic.” I smiled
“What have I started?” He asked himself laying his head on my chest.
I laced my hands through his hair and he sighed.
“I love you.” I said
“I love you too baby girl.” He said
Sam hopped up and cuddled next to is.
“I don’t know if I want to leave again.” He whispered rubbing my thigh.
“Well think about this, it’s only almost two months and then you’ll be back here with me, we’ll get married five months after and we’ll go on our honeymoon and then things will go on.” I said
“You have a point baby.” He said sleepily
“Go to bed baby. I’ll be here in the morning.” I said
“Can I stay here?” He asked
“Yes.” I said
“Goodnight love.” He said
“Goodnight.” I said
He fell asleep and I did shortly after, with Vic using my chest as a pillow and Sam snuggles into my side
