Bulletproof Love

Josh's POV

I have been playing hide and seek with Megan for ages now. Ellie is very late or picking up Megan. It's now 5:20pm, Ellie is sometimes 10 minutes late at the most but since she's nearly an hour late without letting me know, I'm kinda getting worried.

Maybe she's working late and forgot to tell me?

I need to stop overthinking things, I'm sure she's fine. I was walking around the house looking high and low for Megan, for a little 4 year old girl she's very good at hiding. I walked in the bedroom, nothing. Walked into the bathroom, nothing. Then I walked into the lounge.

"I'm going to find you!" I shouted so wherever she was she would hear me. I then heard a faint giggle coming from behind the couch. I've got you now. I slowly walked over to it and looked behind. I saw Megan sitting there silently, she hasn't noticed that I've found her.

"Boo!" I shocked her. She looked up at me and giggled. I picked her up and ran around the room with her still in my arms pretending that she's an airplane, she was laughing a lot. Then my phone suddenly started to ring. I put Megan down and grabbed my phone.

Unknown caller.

I don't usually answer unknown callers but I hesitantly pressed the green button and answered it.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hello, is this Josh Simmons?" The unknown caller asked. How did they know my name? It sounded like a woman but I wasn't sure.

"Yes it is, who is this?" I asked.

"This is the hospital, your friend Ellie Matthews has been in a very serious accident and you're the first contact on her emergency contact list sir" I instantly froze. Ellie's been in an accident? I didn't know what to do or say, "sir, are you still there?" They asked.

"Y-yes, I-is she okay?" I asked worriedly.

"I'm nt 100% sure sir, if you come to the hospital a doctor will tell you everything!" They explained.

"O-okay, thankyou!" I immediately hung up and I nearly burst into tears but I held it back because I didn't want Megan to worry.

My bestfriend is in hospital right now probably fighting for her life.

I was freaking out so much, I wasn't thinking straight and I didn't know what to tell Megan. I walked over to her and picked her up and sat her on my lap.

"Sweetie, mummy can't come pick you up, so we're going to go see her, okay?" I said as well as I could without crying.

"Okay!" She smiled. She wouldn't understand if I told her the truth. We put our shoes on, opened the front door and left quickly for the hospital.

Please let Ellie be okay.

I parked my car in the hospital car park and got out. I opened Megan's car door and lifted her out carefully and held her in my arms. I shut the door, locked it and then I walked into the hospital. I was shaking a lot. I walked through the door and all I could feel was a really bad vibe, I seriously hate hospitals. I headed towards the front desk and saw a young woman sitting there.

"I'm here to see Ellie Matthews" I said shakily.

"Are you a relative?" She asked giving me a weird look.

"This is her daughter, please just tell me where she is?" I literally begged. She clicked a few things on her computer and typed something.

"She hasn't been assigned a room yet sir because she went straight to surgery as soon as she got here and she's still in there right now. If you go and sit in the waiting room, a doctor will come and tell you when she's ready for visitors!" She said with a sympathetic smile.

"O-okay thankyou" I said and slowly walked away from the desk and went over to the waiting room. I sat down and placed Megan on my lap, I could tell she was confused as to why we were here but I didn't have the courage to tell her the truth.

"Joshy, where's mummy?" She asked, the question I was dreading to answer.

"I-um, we're just waiting for her sweetie don't worry" I forced a smile to her. All I could think about right now was if worse comes for worst what would happen to Megan? I suddenly thought about Jaime, does he know? I don't have his number but oddly enough I have Tonys because Ellie gave it to me, so I rang him to tell him to tell Jaime about what happened. I grabbed my phone and called Tony.

"Hello?" He answered.

"H-hey Tony it's um, Josh, Ellie's friend!" I said shakily.

"Oh, hey man you okay?" He asked.

"No not really, Ellie's been in a serious car accident and I haven't got Jaime's number to tell him, please tell him to come down to the hospital!" I said. The line went quiet, he's probably shocked, "are you still there?" I asked.

"Y-yeah, we'll be down there as soon as we can, bye!" He said then hung up.

This could be a long wait..

Jaime's POV

I've been sitting at home all day being bored and I've been trying to keep myself occupied but it wasn't working. None of the guys would do anything because the were busy. I did the washing up, washed all my clothes and cleaned the house because I have nothing else to do. I was texting Ellie a few times earlier but she stopped, I was assumed that she was busy at work.

I was currently watching some shitty television programme that I've never seen before but nothing else was on. My mind was wondering all over the place when my phone began to ring in my pocket, I pulled it out and saw Tony ringing.

"Hey man!" I answered.

"Jaime you need to listen to me, you can't freak out when I tell you this but me and the guys are coming to get you because Ellie's been in a serious car accident!" He explained. Those words were something I was dreading. I froze to the spot, I probably stop breathing for all I know.

"Jaime, for fuck sake did you hear me?" He shouted.

"Y-yes I heard you" I said quietly. I couldn't breathe, it felt like all the oxygen in my lungs had been kicked out of me. I walked backwards, hit the wall and just slid down sitting on the floor with my head in my hands. This couldn't be happening.

I heard a knock on the door and slowly got up off the floor. I opened the door and saw Tony standing there with a scared expression on his face.

"Come on Jaime, we need to go!" He said. I nodded. I quickly put my shoes on and left the house to the place I dread to go to the most, I hate hospitals.

The car journey to the hospital was quiet, I don't think any of us have completely taken in what's happened. I was thinking too much to speak and I'm sure no one else wanted to speak.

When we made it to the hospital, I opened the door before Vic had properly stopped the car and ran inside as quick as could. I made my way to the front desk.

"I'm here to see Ellie Matthews!" I rushed. The young woman at the desk just looked bored.

"Are you a relative?" She asked.

"I'm her fucking boyfriend, now let me see her!" I shouted, shocking her a little.

"Jaime calm down man, she'll be fine!" Mike said as he placed a hand on my shoulder to try and calm me down but nothing worked, I was completely freaking out.

"She's on the 3rd floor in room 35 sir!" She smiled at me. I ran to the elevator and pressed the 3rd button. The guys ran after me and made it before the doors closed.

"Jaime you need to calm down and stop freaking out!" Vic said breaking the silence. I knew he was right but I seriously couldn't think straight at all.

"I can't" I simply said. He just sighed in defeat. As soon as the elevator stopped and the doors opened, I was out of there like a flash. I ran and as soon as I made it to her room I just froze. I couldn't go in there, I was ok scared to see way was in the other side of the door. The guys came up behind me an waited for me to open the door. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked round and saw Tony half smile at me, couldn't wen force one back. I took a deep breath and slowly opened the door.

When my eyes met with her I broke down, she looked lifeless. She was on life support, her whole body was bruised, her leg was in a cast and her stomach and chest were covered in bandages. I saw Josh and Megan sitting next to her bed, Josh was holding one of Ellie's hands looking terrified and Megan didn't full understand what was happening. As soo as Megan saw me she ran up to me, I hugged her tightly and sat nex to Ellie's bed. I was praying that this was all just a horrible nightmare but I knew it wasn't.

"Daddy is mummy okay?" Megan asked. I didn't know what to say to her. I looked at the guys and they just nodded at me, giving me the cue to tell Megan the truth even if she didn't understand.

"Honestly no princess. She's been in a terrible accident, as you can tell mummy isn't very well!" I explained while crying slightly. Megan moved off my lap and sat on the bed next to Ellie. She kissed Ellie's forehead lightly and laid right next to her.

"I love you mummy and always will, please be okay!" She whispered to Ellie just loud enough for me to hear. That seriously broke my heart. Megan is too young to go through something like this.

A few hours had passed, no one had moved or said anything. Then a doctor walked in

"Can I speak to Ellie's boyfriend please?" He asked. I quickly stood up and followed him outside the room. He didn't looked too happy.

"Ellie is in very critical condition. She was stabbed in the chest and stomach by smashed glass, we had to operate immediately to stop the bleeding which we did but she isn't looking very good. I'm not saying she's not going to make it but just don't keep your hopes up, that's all I'm saying. We need to keep a close eye on her" He said. Everything he said didn't seem real, I didn't want to believe it.

"O-okay thankyou doctor!" I forced a smile and walked back into the room.

"What did he say Hime?" Vic asked.

"She's in critical condition and they need to keep a close eye on her.. t-they sai we shouldn't keep our hopes up" I explained, tears threatening to fall. Everyone looked really scared and Megan was still laying next to Ellie, she refused to leave her side.

This is the worst day of my life.
