Who Can Save Me Now?

Chapter 14

Lu-Lu skipped past me as I walked side by side with Ben and Grant and Alyssa right in front of us. We had gotten off the bus at FIR’s for the party they were throwing and we went to our bus to continue the tour. We got on the bus, resting on the couch and talked a bit before our bus driver climbed on and announced that we were leaving.

“Our interview was posted over two hours ago.” Alyssa said, scrolling through her phone before Lu-Lu connected the Bluetooth on her tablet and turned the TV on, going on YouTube and searching for the interview. We finally found the video and Lu-Lu clicked it, watching as it loaded before the interviewer appeared.

“You guys may or may not have heard of Suicide Night, a brand new hardcore band from New Jersey. What started as a small fun night of messing around with instruments, turned into one of the most popular bands in only a year. Today, I had the privilege to talk with the band one-on-one and see how they met, seeing as the only one from New Jersey, is the lead singer, Victoria.”

Lu-Lu’s POV

“I have to say, I don’t think I ever interviewed a band quite like yours. Most bands have a girl play bass or rhythm guitar, but this band has a female vocalist, which we have seen, but a lead female guitarist and a female drummer, it’s pretty cool.” The interviewer smiled.

“Yeah, it’s pretty cool. Most people don’t expect it, but that’s the way it is. It makes us unique.” I grinned and hopped a bit on the couch. “I usually play a bit of all the instruments, right now, the xylophone being my favorite, but the guitar always had that little thing that I just enjoyed.” I smiled.

“So tell us about you before the band.” I thought back and smiled a little.

“I was bullied severely during elementary school, until Ben came along and got used to the annoying me. I’m really happy Ben was in my life. I had an adventurous high school life with him, going to concerts, doing reckless things at three in the morning and sleeping over each other’s houses. Of course, he slept over mine because he didn’t have to sleep on the floor since my bed was big enough for the two of us.” I giggled, thinking back to our young times.

“You guys are fresh out of high school, am I right?” He asked.

“Tori is, she’s the youngest of us. She’s barely 19, Ben and I follow at 20, Alyssa about to be 21 and Grant being 23 already.” I smiled. “In the beginning, it was Ben and I, we really didn’t think that it would be five of us and a whole mess of the bands that we looked up to.”

Ben’s POV

“Ben, tell us how you began with playing bass.” The interviewer asked. I chuckled and leaned back into the couch on our bus.

“Let me see, my mom was a bass player in her music class; so ever since I could remember, I used to watch her pick up the bass and just play. When I got older, she got me a guitar but I just couldn’t play it as good as the bass. I owe my mom a lot, she got me really into this and because of her, I’m doing something I love.” I smiled, knowing my mom was going to be watching this.

“So, how did you come to meet the band?” He asked.

“I was a good friend of Lu-Lu’s during middle school. No one spoke to her because of the way she was and when I met her, she was really quiet. So after she knew that I wasn’t planning on leaving her, she opened up and acted like her normal self. She was loud and hyper and she got me annoyed, but she was the one person who liked me and I couldn’t picture my life without her.” I grinned.

“It seems that she means a lot to you.” The interview smiled, sitting next to the camera lady.

“Oh yeah, Lu-Lu is a great friend of mine, more like a sister to me, like Tori. Alyssa though, I see her more as a lover than a sister.” I laughed and the two laughed with me. “I’m kidding, the three are my sisters and Grant has to be the mother of us.” I grinned. “We actually met Grant next, now that I think about it.” I thought back, thinking back.

Grant’s POV:

“I met Ben and Lu-Lu before I moved out the New York. I had gone to a PTV concert during my freshman year, which was my last year in Virginia before I moved over to New York. I got barricade and right next to me was Lu-Lu with Ben right behind her, his arms caging her between the barricade and his body.” I remembered and laughed.

“I joked that no one was going to bother talking his girl with bubble gum colored hair. She had bright pin hair at the time, and we laughed. We exchanged numbers and we talked. When I moved up to New York, I met Alyssa, who had barely moved from London. We talked and got to know each other before I moved in the middle of my junior year to New Jersey and met Tori.” I rubbed my jaw and felt the pricks of my growing beard, thinking I needed a shave, and soon.

“How did you get into playing guitar?”

“I taught myself. As you could tell, I moved around a lot and I found comfort in playing it. I enjoyed making acoustic covers of hardcore songs and it just always calmed me.” I shrugged and looked at the interviewer.

“So, technically, you knew Alyssa and Tori, but they had no clue about one another.”

Alyssa’s POV

“No, Tori and I knew each other since her freshman year. I talked with her through Tumblr, that’s how we met.” I said, pulling my hair over my left shoulder.

“And you didn’t know that she knew Grant?” The guy asked.

“Not at the time, it was really cool how he happened to meet me and then move right next door to Tori.” I nodded.

“You’re known as one of the most serious of the group, mostly because it’s rare to see you smile unless it’s with the fans, why is that?” The guy asked and I sighed, looking up.

“I used to live in London, and I had three older brothers with three younger sisters, so I was literally the middle child. I never had my parent’s attention since they were too worried about the guys doing things they weren’t supposed to and the sisters getting wild.” I shrugged and crossed my leg over my other.

“I moved out to New York after just getting tired of being home and no one to let loose with. Ben though, he was a great friend, the one person I smiled with and just, relaxed.” I slightly smiled.

“And the drumming? Did that come naturally?”

“No, the first time I drummed was when Lu-Lu showed us the new set she bought.” I laughed a bit and the interview guy chuckled.

Tori’s POV

“So, you brought the whole group together?” The man spoke.

“I wouldn’t say that, no. I mean, after deciding to run away from home, you know having problems with my mom and all,” I waved my hand, the interviewer nodding. “I drove with Grant up to New York, and he had been telling me about a girl he would be leaving me with, a friend of his that he trusted with his own life, which was pretty surprising to me at the time.” I spoke.

“When I first met Alyssa, I recognized her from my Tumblr and immediately explained to Grant how we knew each other. After Grant dropped out of college, he came over to New York with us and from there, brought Ben and Lu-Lu with him. We all met there and I knew we were going to stick with each other, through thick and thin.” I smiled.

“And the singing?” He asked.

“I just always sang, whether it was for school plays or just fun.” I giggled and he nodded.

“What sort of things did you go through in high school and home?” He asked.

“I was bullied in school, and my mother never really saw me as a daughter, really.” I shrugged and the subject was dropped.

We laughed as the interview continued, Ben going on about how the fans ship him and Alyssa and Alyssa’s jaw dropped, laughing and holding her stomach. We all were laughing, Ben laying his head on my lap as he almost choked on his laughter.

“If I would have known how much people ship us, I would hold you more often in front of them.” Ben said between laughs and Alyssa leaned forward, slapping his leg as she continued laughing.

“The fans would freak!” She laughed and we all finally calmed down, Grant leaning back on the couch as Lu-Lu squeezed her way next to Ben and me. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders, Grant linking his arm with mine as Alyssa laid on our laps.

“The tour is almost over.” Grant sighed and I nodded.

“We have this upcoming one, then we go back to writing music.” Alyssa yawned and Lu-Lu did too, resting her head on Ben’s shoulders.

“Keeping up with the boyfriends will be hard.” He chuckled and I smiled, Grant linking his fingers with mine as we fell asleep.

Mid August came too soon and the tour was over, all of the bands agreed to meet at the airport to head over to Europe. I looked over at Andy who walked to me and smiled. “Are you guys coming along?” Jesse asked us as he walked over to us.

Grant packed our bus with the crew members and Lu-Lu was hugging Vic. “Nope, we’re staying here until mid-November, we’re doing a Ditch School Tour.” She grinned.

“I talked to our manager and he agreed.” Alyssa spoke, walking off the bus and putting her hair back with a clip, her clean nose ring between her teeth.

“So no Europe run?” Alex frowned and Ben shook his head.

“Sorry.” He smiled and we all said our goodbyes, our bus driver getting the bus ready. I looked up at Andy and he frowned a bit before looking at me and holding my hand.

“Call and text?” He asked.

“We have FaceTime and Skype.” I grinned and he nodded. He leaned down and placed a small kiss on my lips and chuckled as I blushed a scarlet red.

“You’ll be my girlfriend, right?” He asked. I looked up at him and smiled, kissing his cheek and walking to the others. “Is that a yes?” He asked, following me.

“I’ll think about it.” I smiled, hugging everyone goodbye. I laughed as Jack told me a joke and when I turned around to say bye to Aaron, I caught a glimpse of Alyssa and Austin saying their goodbyes. I looked away, Aaron glancing at them before laughing and looking at me.

“They’re like a newlywed couple who can’t keep their hands off each other.” I rolled my eyes and laughed, talking my time saying bye before covering my eyes and walking to Alyssa and grabbed her elbow.

“Stop it Victoria.” She grumbled.

“We have to go.” I laughed and uncovered my eyes as she took a few steps back. We all said bye, Andy hugging me tightly before we headed into the bus.

“Please tell me we’ll see them soon.” Lu-Lu said, waving at Vic from the window.

“We’re touring, not dying.” Ben laughed and slumped on the empty couch.

“Women.” Grant grinned and Lu-Lu tackled the two, Alyssa rolling her eyes and smiling. I watched as the guys stood around and talked outside. I waved at the few who looked over and noticed Andy looking at me. I smiled and pulled the window down as we pulled away.

“The answer is yes!” I yelled out, seeing him grin and CC pat his back.
