Curtains Close; Take a bow. I think we fooled all of them now.
Chapter 74 - For Every Heart We Betrayed
Oli's POV
I walked back inside the room with Hanley. Someone was sat on the end of the bed and Rain was leaning against his shoulder. When he turned to see me, my jaw dropped. It was Anthony! He wasn't dead!
"Ah! Hello, Oli!" He smiled. "I'm sorry to hear about your baby..." He quietened the room.
"It's okay..." I shrugged. "We thought you were dead."
He shook his head.
Hanley pointed his finger at Anthony. "That's the man that was at the door daddy!"
Anthony looked guilty. "Oh. Sorry, didn't mean to scare you lot. I just wanted Danny to come to the door. I figured he wasn't in, I couldn't see his car outside." He said innocently.
Both Rain and I swallowed hard and looked at each other with grief. I waited for her to say something, but it looked like it was stuck in her throat.
"Anthony..." I whispered. "Danny is dead..."
Anthony's smile dropped down. His face dead serious now. "What? For how long?"
"Not long after you left. He killed himself..." I dropped my head down and looked away from him.
His eyes started to well up. "Oh god... I shouldn't have left my boy... I should have been there to protect him..." A tear dropped down from his cheek and he fell silent. He got up and walked away from us, closing the door behind him.
"Hello, Hanley." Rain whispered.
"Are you better now mommy? Have the doctors fixed you?" He put on a desperate smile.
"Yes baby." She whispered. "And you have a baby sister now."
Hanley's eyes opened up widely. "A baby sister!?" He shouted with joy. He tapped his little feet on the ground and jumped up onto the bed beside Rain.
Rain held his shoulder. "But your sister has a problem with her eyes... She can't see..." Rain nudged him a little in confession.
"That's okay mommy." He smiled. "I bet she's so pretty like you!" He simply brushed it off, with such a delicate understanding voice. We were both so proud of him.
"Go and talk to Anthony." I told Rain. She nodded.
I lifted Hanley up over my shoulder and carried him to the baby ward. There was a room full of little babies in plastic tanks, wires and tubes sticking out of each. I looked on the covers, looking for our baby. And out of the corner of my eye, I found her.
"Here she is!" I playfully said to Hanley.
He looked over her in ore. He placed his hands over the plastic and traced his fingers over her. "She's so tiny..." He whispered. "What's her name?"
"Well, mommy was thinking of calling her..." He looked at me in anticipation. "Sienna."
"Sienna? Thats a pretty name. It sounds like a flower..." He replied.
Sienna wasn't a flower, but it was a shade of brown. The exact color of her hair. And I had loved the way it rolled off your tongue with such a smooth flow. And it was quirky. I bet there wasn't any other babies in this room called Sienna.
